Final considerations

Hello there,

last message i will send you (before i leave altogether, will only update a couple of infoboxes on a couple of players that are still competing in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, don't have to tell you which because you will undoubtedly find out), would appreciate politeness as always and brutal sincerity if you please.

Why the endless stalking (you can call it "monitoring" or "cleanup", same thing)? Was it because i sometimes engaged in blanket reverts of your edits (also known as rollback, don't know if you knew that term)? Was it because i confided with other users because i felt so desperate i did not know what to do? If the former, i admit i could have engaged in talkpage (in the article's talkpage, not an individual user's one) conversation more, like we did in Unai Emery, but i almost never used that option in 13 years. Regarding who reverted who where and when, we both did it to the other party; if the latter, i apologise but i repeat i did it out of frustration, never once did i resort to insults (i find that action utterly coward through any means other than to one's face), i did use expletives here and there which is not the same thing.

Certes, you also edit in other fields that have nothing to do with football. But regarding this sport, 99% - 100% might be inaccurate, but also accurate - of your edits are in articles where i edit, immediately after i have done so and never before, before i edit there the article's overall display and grammar do not constitute a problem to you, not one bit. By doing that, you utter the words (without actually saying them) "this guy is the worst football editor i have ever seen, what a load of crap", and that makes me feel absolutely worthless wikiwise; please don't repeat the "Do you want me to stop improving poor material?" line again, but please do explain, in your honest opinion, why in 13 years no one had a problem with my approach (minor tweaks here and there are highly wanted and welcome but not major overhauls, and why you write "English" in many of your summaries is quite discouraging. Do i write my storylines in Czech?).

The final two technicalities, of course the articles i will now mention stay as you want from now on: 1 - in Pablo Sarabia, you say that "conquest" is not used in a context where/when a team wins a trophy. Then, i guess this Google search (https://www.google.com/search?biw=1280&bih=881&ei=HNMoXbyNEqqBjLsPx-26sAI&q=champions+league+conquest&oq=champions+league+conquest&gs_l=psy-ab.3...17047.20858..21072...2.0..0.92.1381.18......0....1..gws-wiz.......0i71j0i7i30j0i7i10i30j0i8i7i30j0i8i7i10i30j0i8i30j0i8i10i30j33i10.YIWrelzzWIc), as all i seem to perform, is not correct; 2 - Damián Escudero. Article's display is now worse in opinion (you don't like me as an editor, i guess i can have the same opinion of you if it is brought forth respectfully. Why the one-liners in the middle of a text i'll never understand), and your "cleanup" also left stuff like "Spanishh" and "Villareal" (club name carries two "R" not one).

I know i once told you the opposite when you asked, but since i requested full-blown sincerity in this final message i must engage in the same. Yes, it is because of you i am leaving (and i don't say this because i want you to feel bad or anything, if this was a battle of technicalities you won and i lost, that simple), that IP who told me once or twice to get lost because my English sucked is only a poor sap, i told them to "up yours" and was ready to move on with my editing (and the odd lowlife vandals i cannot even begin to care about), but your being constantly on my case became a weight that i could not handle in the long run. I figured since you had apparently found out my work IP, i could oblige and give you my home IP (both static, i never engaged in sockpuppetry or IP-hopping), so that you could engage in as many cleanups as you saw fit; guess i wanted to be caught so that i could leave the project that, as i once mentioned to you, was not fun anymore. But it was still a hobby and that is why i kept at it, guess i'll have to find another one...

Should you wish to reply, and if i fail to read it because i will go and hang out after dinner, i will undoubtedly have a go tomorrow afternoon. I wish you a pleasant life in and outside WP (and i am not being sarcastic, no sir, our huge differences were mainly technical i do believe), goodbye from Portugal --Quite A Character (talk) 19:00, 12 July 2019 (UTC)

Excuse me, but just one more question, one which i feels strongly belongs here: :@MYS77:, a Brazilian user who interacted with me for many many years, edits with practically the same style as i once did. Why are his contributions of no concern to you, then? Thanks. --Quite A Character (talk) 19:26, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

OK, a quick answer because I am busy with other things and don't have time yet to reply to all of this. I will add a longer reply later if i have time. I am not stalking you, or any other word you want to use. I sometimes see phrases or words that are examples of bad English, and I fix them. Sometimes I use Google to search for examples of the same words, phrases - netting, routing, etc
In your opinion, what should I do when I find an article that has numerous examples of poor English in it? --hippo43 (talk) 21:40, 15 July 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. Regarding this first bit, only the following: of course, cleanup and grammar correction is warranted when due. Since I am not a native, I must never think my edits/phrasing are above all doubt and in need of no correction, that point is moot fellow user (soon to be "former fellow user"); my simple question is, in regard to football edits, why does it come to be you only correct me (that is what your list of contributions in that field shows)?

Attentively --Quite A Character (talk) 08:26, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

You are mistaken. I correct mistakes when I see them, and I don't know who actually made them.
You mentioned MYS77. I have edited a number of articles that he has also edited. When I change something, I don't know who wrote it originally. I think the reason you are upset by this is maybe that very few people edit or read these articles, so no one had maybe noticed your mistakes before? I don't know. Maybe his English is more accurate than yours, I really don't know.
In any case, I would encourage you not to quit, but obviously it is up to you. My opinion is that your English is not as strong as you think it is, it is not strong enough to write good quality articles without a lot of editing, and you should respond to corrections more positively. Instead you argue over every point and keep making the same mistakes. On Wikipedia I think it is obvious that when one writes something, other people will edit, correct, or improve it, so I don't know why this makes you so uncomfortable. --hippo43 (talk) 11:10, 16 July 2019 (UTC)

Again, thanks for the reply. Maybe it can all amount to me being overstressed and not seeing things correctly, so if the scenario is that one or just me throwing a tantrum, it's time for me to quit equally. All the best --Quite A Character (talk) 12:47, 16 July 2019 (UTC)
