Conflict of interest in Wikipedia[edit]

Hi Henrich77 I work on conflict of interest issues here in Wikipedia along with my regular editing. Your edits to date are all about Ramy El-Batrawi. You also uploaded this image and said it was yours to license. All of this makes it appear that you have a connection to El-Batrawi and are here representing him in some fashion. I'm giving you notice of our Conflict of Interest guideline and Terms of Use, and will have some comments and requests for you below.

Information icon Hello, Henrich77. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your circle, your organization, its competitors, projects or products;
  • instead propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.

Comments and requests[edit]

Wikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. As in academia, COI is managed here in two steps - disclosure and a form of peer review. Please note that there is no bar to being part of the Wikipedia community if you want to be involved in articles where you have a conflict of interest; there are just some things we ask you to do (and if you are paid, some things you need to do).

Disclosure is the most important, and first, step. While I am not asking you to disclose your identity (anonymity is strictly protecting by our WP:OUTING policy) would you please disclose if you have some connection with El-Batrawi or any of his companies, etc? You can answer how ever you wish (giving personally identifying information or not), but if there is a connection, please disclose it. After you respond (and you can just reply below), perhaps we can talk a bit about editing Wikipedia, to give you some more orientation to how this place works. Please reply here - I am watching this page. Thanks! Jytdog (talk) 00:18, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jytdog,

I am sorry you had that impression of any connection to Ramy El-Batrawi. I am not connected in any way to him. I wish I am. I am big fan of Ramy El-Batrawi. In 2000 I was trading his stock (GINI) what made me big bucks. Then I was digging in, to find any info about him. Searching on internet. I actually attended his conference in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. He is a great motivational speaker. Recently I tried to look for some info on Wikipedia about him, but I didnt find anything. So I decided to create one. To be on Wikipedia si kind of cool and definitely challenge for me. Ramy El-Batrawi just happened to be a person who I could write about. I know this is my first article about somebody, so I am sure I made a lot of mistakes and I tried to contact somebody from wikipedia who could help me to correct it. So thank you for contacting me and helping me with that. I appreciate it. That picture I downloaded from internet and cut it. I know it says you have to have rights to picture in order to upload one. So I just click I have a rights, but I guess I dont. Please understand this is my first article and I wanted to have it perfect. If you can help me with that too, that would be great. Thank you again.

Henrich

Thanks for replying! Yes it was clear that you work for him, or are a big fan. Ok first things first. Would you please tell me where you downloaded that image from? Thx Jytdog (talk) 07:08, 19 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This is the website I downloaded the image https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1538786419782140&set=t.100009523909582&type=3&theater Cut it and placed it on wiki

Hm. There is nothing at that page. You are telling me took it from his facebook account? Jytdog (talk) 06:16, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
There is nothing at the page. Where did you actually get the picture, Henrich? Jytdog (talk) 08:12, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

warning[edit]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at GcMAF. Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted or removed. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Repeated vandalism can result in the loss of editing privileges. Thank you. -- Ed (Edgar181) 15:19, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please check the references on this website https://gcmaf.se/patient-resources/ms-parkinsons-alzheimers/ GcMAF treats neurodegenerative conditions like Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Acute brain traumas, Psychiatric disorders, Brain aging. Now please explain to me how that could be a vandalism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Henrich77 (talkcontribs) 15:32, 21 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Heinrich, two things. First, Edgar181 is an administrator, and your response is not appropriate. Second, if you want to add content about health to Wikipedia, it has to be sourced per the WP:MEDRS guideline. That source is not even close. You need to act differently than you are acting. Warning 2[edit]

Copyright problem icon Your addition has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Jytdog (talk) 06:30, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate your help. I uploaded picture and I tried to contact mr. El-Batrawi through the email he has on his website. I think he has 7 days to contact wikimedia to give them permission to use the picture. Otherwise the picture will be taken down. So please leave the picture there for 7 days. Thank you. Henrich77 (talk) 07:20, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

not how it works. do not violate copyright anymore. do not do it. You either have the rights when you upload it, or you don't. You lied when you uploaded it and said you had the license. Do not lie. Jytdog (talk) 07:22, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Second time I uploaded the picture I said I dont have permission to use the picture, I downloaded it from public website and I emailed mr. El-Batrawi the form, so wikipedia can use it, if he approves it. I think he has 7 days to do that. Right? Henrich77 (talk) 07:29, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You lied the first time. How do you have have El-Batrawi's email? Jytdog (talk) 08:08, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not judge people based on their first action you noticed. I didn't do it because I wanted to lye. I didn't know how to place picture on wikipedia. I found mr. El-Batrawis email on this webpage http://www.xllc.us/ Picture I found on the facebook website. The address I sent you earlier. Henrich77 (talk) 08:22, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There is nothing at the facebook link. Nothing you are doing is making any sense here. Jytdog (talk) 08:26, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I see it on mine FB... did you login?

yes i did and no i don't. well we will see what happens with it. OTRS apparently received an email but they are not done evaluating it. Jytdog (talk) 08:36, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I would assume you are not done with editing on my first article. Since there is nothing left I wrote there.

Did you do all that? Oy. yes that was not good editing on a BLP article. Henrich when you edit WP, you need to start with really, really good sources - independent ones. Read them, and summarize them. Don't write anything that is not actually supported by a source. Write neutrally. Wikipedia is not here to say how great or how terrible anyone or anything is. Just the facts. Jytdog (talk) 09:16, 22 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
