Thanks[edit]

Thanks for reviewing the Wellingsbüttel Manor and Jenisch House articles, that's very kind and appreciated. I have a slight comment: acc to WP:MOSIMAGES there should be no imagesize for thumbs, and the Wikipedia:Naming conventions (geographic names) states that Hamburg-Wellingsbüttel is Wellingsbüttel in the English wiki. But your edits make the articles much more readable. So 'Thank You' (bold, capitals and italics!). Greetings and happy editing. Sebastian scha. (talk) 11:31, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No problem - they're interesting articles, and just needed a little extra work on the English. You're right of course on the above points - I was doing a quick copy, paste + instant translate from de-Wiki, and missed them, although in fact the original article already contained an instance of Hamburg-Wellingsbüttel. Best wishes, HeartofaDog (talk) 16:31, 9 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Stub needing sources[edit]

Come on, it's but a stub. Nothing controversial there, barely anything more than a translation of the lead from Polish wiki. //Halibutt 18:04, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've done it for you. Don't be so lazy!HeartofaDog (talk) 21:58, 4 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fr-Wiki as a sole reference[edit]

I am adding reference now, give me two minutes.Starzynka (talk) 12:58, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Gladly. HeartofaDog (talk) 13:02, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I try. I desire this article in the language English and the others I start. I think good encyclopedia needs articles about national parks.Starzynka (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 13:11, 12 October 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Re: Pampa de Achala[edit]

Hi HeartofaDog. Thank you very, very much for to complete the translation and editing of this article. Your help has been invaluable and your interest to help translate articles, is most welcome. My English is not very good, so, with a dictionary and GOOGLE translator (that not 'THE' translator), gives me to the base to translate. You know that the most difficult in a translation, is not to translate the word, but making sense of the paragraph. Also within my basic English, if you used my help, I am here present, as is usually said: 'I'm here at near to cannonball'.Arianzaenglish (talk) 21:34, 24 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Confused[edit]

Could you explain this please? L.E.G.S. is a defunct grammar school that was un a cat called defunct grammar schools. Why has it been removed? Victuallers (talk) 15:25, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Because it is not an article but a redirect, and the usual cats are not used on redirects. At least, that is my understanding - if you can point me to where it says that redirects ARE categorised as if they were articles, I will of course undo my changes.HeartofaDog (talk)
Its a feature of Mediawiki, the software you are using. If you look at the category after you have restored the cat then you will see that LEGS is in italics. That is to show that it isnt a real article but a redirect. Without this feature then we would need to write a new article everytime the name changed. With this feature we can still put "Bombay" into a list ok colonnial cities despite the fact that is now called Mumbai. Victuallers (talk) 15:37, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ive just noticed your contribs. You seem to have assumed that dozens of articles had this "bug". Do you need a hand restoring this category? Victuallers (talk) 15:45, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think so. Surely what puts (for example) Bombay in italics into a list is this template {{R from alternative names}}. It is NOT categorised as (e.g.) Category:Former colonial cities - if it existed, and there are no cats as such on the Bombay redirect. In the group of articles I have just edited, that is what I have done, except with a slightly different template, {{R from former names}}.
It was an example! I told you how to see the italics.... show some faith There are lots of examples in defunct gmammar schools but someone has deleted them ... Now is it likely that I am lying to you and that 20 or so (and no I havnt counted them) different editors all decided to add a category to a grammar school redirect to create a useful category just to annoy or ... Victuallers (talk) 16:06, 31 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]
The "Defunct grammar schools" that I took out were all added by an anon IP address this afternoon, which is the only reason I noticed them. I am sure that no-one on Wikipedia ever lies... However, in the meantime I have tracked down WP:R, which confirms what you are talking about, so I will edit the redirects again to put the cats back. In the meantime I've added some useful templates and learnt sth I didn't know about cats on redirects, so the time is not entirely lost. Thanks for the explanation. Gray's Inn[edit]

Where are you getting the "Gray's Inn doesn't have a formal coat of arms" thing from? Ironholds (talk) 17:59, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is how I am reading the relevant chapter in Douthwaite + the Inn's website. The griffin, although often displayed on a shield, has never been claimed as arms, only as a badge (or "device"), and the old de Gray arms + border have not been used since the late 16th century, when the use of the griffin became standard. Nor has the Inn (unlike the others, I think? a couple of them, at any rate) ever received a grant of arms, although I can't off the top of my head think of a reference for that: sorry. Doubtless the Inn itself would confirm if asked. I can reword more vaguely if necessary :) HeartofaDog (talk) 15:03, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wiener Film[edit]

I assessed the article as part of the Tag & Asses drive. Unfortunately, with over 50,000 articles to review, and the number of reviewers helping out, we usually can visit each article only briefly. Usually I tag all C-class articles with the same two or three B-class checklist parameters based on a quick glance. It would be very time consuming to read over every article to verify the grammar is sufficient, so by default I mark it as no. I believe that this can be helpful as it allows editors of these newly assessed C-class articles to take a look over the article and copyedit it. Regarding the structure, I believe that the lead should be expanded a bit more so that it touches on each of the sections within the article. That's great that this article uses information from the German Wikipedia, good job tying the two together. If you believe that any of the parameters are inaccurate you can either change it yourself (or if you want to bring it to the Assessment department, I or another editor will take a closer look at it). If you need any further clarification, please let me know. Thanks for contacting me about this. --Happy editing! Nehrams2020 (talkcontrib) 01:16, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries[edit]

Ill try, but i make many small edits, i often forget to do it (its also kind of annoying for small edits). Omegastar (talk) 10:22, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The German source article calls it a Kloster, which might translate closer to Monastery, not Priory Priorat or Friary, which in both languages redirects to Monastery/Kloster. So, maybe Königsfelden Monastery might be better, if Königsfelden had an Abbot/Abbess then I think it should be Abbey. The German article lists Abbesses, but I can't find a source for that. Beyond what's in the WP articles I don't know anything about the differences between the various orders and whether it's a Abbey, Monastery, Priory, etc. Tobyc75 (talk) 21:42, 13 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You Gotta Have Heart[edit]

I was wondering if you could copy edit Heart of a Dog? See also File:Poligraf Poligrafovich.JPG. Any help appreciated. Smallbones (talk) 13:34, 15 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Harzé Castle[edit]

Hi... thanks for your additions on this topic. I have written the German article on this topic, with more informations than the articles have in the orginal french, nederlands and wallonie edition. But I did not have time to complete this in english. Will follow. --W.Mechelke (talk) 11:26, 8 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You are now a Reviewer[edit]

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 17:26, 15 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Eliot Hodgkin[edit]

Thanks!!! Yes, I can add the page numbers to the references. (a) The same book have his parents names. (b) Yes, I'll do that. It could take a bit more of time, but I'm more than happy to do so. The book on the reference has much more information that I want to put in the article. Eliot Hodgkin was a collector as well, so I'm thinking of adding a section for that.
