This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of NDUFB3, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://monarchinitiative.org/gene/NCBIGene:4709.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Thank you CorenSearchBot. The text in question is in the public domain. I have added the appropriate NLM content tag and reference. HeartBD2K talk 20:53, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Citation tool[edit]

Thanks for your great contributions to Gene Wiki articles! If you haven't seen this yet, please check out User:Diberri's Wikipedia template filling tool (instructions). Given a PubMed ID, one can quickly produce a full citation that can be copied and pasted into a Wikipedia article. This tool can save you a lot of work and ensure that the citations are displayed in a consistent manner. Cheers. Boghog (talk) 11:34, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Animal studies[edit]

Concerning the animal studies section of ACADL‎, almost all the sources in this paragraph are to animal studies. Furthermore the results of animal studies quite often do not translate into human. Hence it is highly misleading to title this section clinical significance. Per WP:MEDANIMAL, I have therefore changed back the title to animal studies to avoid any implication that the results are applicable to humans. Boghog (talk) 05:08, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

External links[edit]

Per WP:External links, these should not normally be placed in the body of an article. For the inline external links that you have been adding to the www.heartproteome.org site, I have have placed these in <ref></ref> tags and templated the external link with a {{cite web}} as I have done in this edit. Please also note that adding the same link to a large number of articles suggests that you may have a conflict of interest. Boghog (talk) 05:21, 17 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Boghog. Thank you for your input. I will follow this citation method in future edits. As for adding the links to the heartproteome.org site on many protein/gene pages: this is a site with a large repository of mass spectral data, and each link that I have placed goes to the individual protein's data page at that site. Is this acceptable, or would you recommend a different approach? Thank you! HeartBD2K talk 20:51, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Gene Wiki article names[edit]

Hi. Concerning the Gene Wiki, these articles are both the protein and the gene that encodes that protein. Per the MCB Style Guide, if the protein name is relatively short as is the case with Desmin, the protein name should be used in preference to the gene name. Also per MOS:BOLD, only the first occurrence of the gene symbol or protein name are bolded in an article. If a section is a target of the redirect, then these more specialized terms should also be bolded, but only at their first occurrence. Cheers. Boghog (talk) 19:56, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Boghog. Thank you very much for your input. I agree that, in the case of Desmin, the protein name should be used rather than the gene name. I am also working on a set of sarcomeric and contractile proteins that have several different names which are used much more commonly than the gene name. I might request your input on renaming these articles. As for bolded gene names, thank you for informing me of this convention in MOS:BOLD. I am becoming more familiar with Wikipedia conventions on style and content and I will be sure to follow this in my future edits. Again, thank you for all of the help you have provided in the past couple of weeks, I really appreciate it. HeartBD2K talk 20:47, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
