A barnstar for you!

The Articles for Creation Barnstar
Well deserved being an article creator using the AfC and as well as reviewing AfCs. MarioJump83! 05:58, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

I have closed your AfD

Unfortunately, I have to close it as no consensus. But of course, all arguments have some merits here, including the possible COI and whataboutism by the creator of the article. You can see that I am not biased in my assessment and trying my best to be neutral as I could be. Feel free to ping if you want more from me closing your AfDs. MarioJump83! 05:55, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

MarioJump83, I saw your close and can see a well balanced view. You were probably correct to close rather than relist. I think you have interpreted the lack of consensus well, a good default close. I might criticise the arguments in the discussion, but cannot fault the close.
I think this article is one to keep on the radar, though. It waddles like the duck of 'lack of true notability', but waddles along the tightrope of 'just might be notable'. I was pinged to offer an opinion, though I was not online. Though I have not analysed the subject and the references in detail I am tending to deletion, but that is no matter.
I certainly cannto fault the nominator for their nomination Fiddle Faddle 09:01, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
I thought that it was an offer to close the AfD. *sigh* I think I have misunderstood what they said. If possible, I could nominate that article for deletion again. What an oopsie... MarioJump83! 09:18, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
MarioJump83, not an oopsie at all. You did what was right in the circumstances that obtained. I'm not sure that a new nomination would create a different view. Fiddle Faddle 09:24, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
MarioJump83, Timtrent, thanks to both of you. I really appreciate your individual views on this. There is no "oopsie" at all. I guess the AfD is not yet closed. Let it take its own course. Thank you once again. - Hatchens (talk) 03:46, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

Saw it late

Hey there, I just saw the AFD for Alexander Zaytsev (businessman). From my experience in several AFD's, my opinion would have been delete. That article is probably written for promotional purpose. I cannot find anything regarding the person to have an independent article for himself. Unfortunately, the discussion has been closed. Regards Kichu🐘 Discuss 08:40, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

If I were to give my opinion on that article, it would have been a weak keep at the very least. The article is not neutral, but he is an owner of one of the sports teams in Belarus. MarioJump83! 09:10, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
MarioJump83, I have just been through the article and references. There is sufficient to say that he is controversial, and his notoriety appears to me to grant him an article here. The referencing is sadly lacking. I have edited one reference to cite only the fact it can verify, and called for substantially more references.
Having analysed it in detail I believe the nomination was correct, but that he comes down just on the notable side of the line. This justifies the close as no consensus based only upon the arguments made at AfD Fiddle Faddle 09:40, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
Timtrent, I second you. ─ The Aafī (talk) 10:22, 5 March 2021 (UTC)
Completely in agreement with MarioJump83, Timtrent, and TheAafi. - Hatchens (talk) 03:48, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Nabhit Kapur article

Hello Hatchens'

Nabhit Kapur is a famous psychologist and founder of Peaceful Mind organization. He is working with different governments like Government of Ghana, Central government of India. He has been recognized for various awards and there are multiple media links available on his name. Then why it got deleted ? I understand there are some PR media links but I have deleted them. There are around seven to eight references which are not PR.

I believe he is notable person and the article was not intended to be promotional, and I believe the subject deserves a Wikipedia page, for Wikipedia article for following reasons.

He is a famous psychologist from India and founder of Peaceful Mind organization registered under UN. He is author of two books. His articles got published in renowned newspapers and magazines. He is an international speaker and his podcasts are available on various platforms. I have given the references too.

I don't understand what the exact violations were. Please help so that I can make more corrections as per your based on your recommendation, and more sources added.

Speedy deletion of Barbara Minto article

Hello Hatchens--

Thanks for your interest in the Barbara Minto article.

Here's what I wrote on the Talk page for that article:

This page should not be speedily deleted because...

Barbara Minto meets Wikipedia's notability requirements in that she has received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject.

Furthermore, she meets these additional criteria:

  • The person is regarded as an important figure or is widely cited by peers or successors.
  • The person is known for originating a significant new concept, theory, or technique.

I suggest that you do a Google Books search on her name to understand how widely cited Minto's work on MECE, SQCA and the Pyramid Principle are. I firmly believe that she meets the notability criteria for a Wikipedia entry and am happy to discuss this further.

Let me know the next steps.

thanks!

Hi Hatchens, nice work on the article. Would it be possible to expand the prose? If so, you might want to nominate it at the WP:DYK. Ashleyyoursmile! 17:13, 15 March 2021 (UTC)
Ashleyyoursmile, thank you for your kind and supportive words. I'm pretty excited to do that. Can you assist? Because I am not able to figure out wether I can nominate my own work and how to define hooks. - Hatchens (talk) 02:13, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi Hatchens, I would be happy to assist you with the nomination. Firstly, you will have to expand the prose a bit. WP:DYKRULES mention a minimum character count of 1500, and currently the article stands at 1075 characters. You can use this tool to measure the length of prose by copying and pasting the paragraphs, just exclude infoboxes, categories, references, lists, and tables. Alternately, you can install this script by copying and pasting the line
:::importScript('User:Shubinator/DYKcheck.js'); //DYKcheck tool
:::
to your common.js page and then bypassing the cache. The DYk check is going to appear on the left-hand side of the article, click on it to view the character count. After that, we can proceed with the nomination. I do have a hook in mind. :) Ashleyyoursmile! 04:49, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Ashleyyoursmile, gotchya! Thank you so much for this DYK thing. In the meanwhile, let me expand the prose. And, that would be quite tricky but let me try for it. - Hatchens (talk) 05:07, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Hatchens, no problem! :) Good luck with the expansion, just one thing- the expansion should be done within seven days of the date of creation of the article in order to be eligible for DYK. Ashleyyoursmile! 05:10, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Ashleyyoursmile, yeah just read that. As soon as I complete the expansion, will ping you. - Hatchens (talk) 05:40, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Ashleyyoursmile, the edits are done. Kindly advise. I'm excited to witness the DYK process. - Hatchens (talk) 12:10, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Hi Hatchens, nice work in the expansion. I've nominated the article; you can find the entry here. Someone will review it soon and leave comments on the page. :) Ashleyyoursmile! 13:32, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Ashleyyoursmile, thank you so much for motivating me. I am not a good editor yet. Need to learn and evolve a lot. But, I would like to thank Timtrent who introduced me to the concept of DYK. But, I was not confident enough to go ahead at that time. I hope he finds this article worthy enough because of you. - Hatchens (talk) 14:23, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
Hatchens, no problem! Please continue with your good work in creating new articles. :) Ashleyyoursmile! 14:25, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. Hatchens (talk) 05:58, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

Hello Hatchens. I was confused on the correction you made me. Comparing the post with Houzz, I found references with interactions between the source and the company (part of History and internal resources). When you explain the references, you indicate that they must be independent. What do you advise me?

Are all references wrong? Can you tell me by your experience which one could pass the test? I will look for new references anyway, but I would like a little help.

And about my writing, what would you recommend me? Do I delete things so it doesn't sound promotional, or do I just rephrase it? --Javier Alejandro Herrera Carvajal (talk) 21:00, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

Can you have a look at this.

Hello, can you have a look at this draft [1]. While it seems fine with the contents, im not impressed with the reliablility of sources. Also,I cannot find any significant coverage. This [2] is the only one that gives him atleast any significant coverage in my assessment. It would be better if you are having a look at it. Regards Kichu🐘 Need any help? 16:51, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

Dear Sir/Madam, I am citing another file from the Hindu for your perusal : https://www.thehindu.com/sci-tech/science/article33043379.ece/binary/IndiansWorldRanking.pdf Kdis98 (talk) 07:15, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

With due respect, the article you have cited is an opinion piece: just because Indian National Science Academy (INSA-New Delhi), Indian Academy of Sciences (IASc-Bangalore) and National Academy of Sciences-India (NASI-Allahabad), and several academy Fellows are not in the list does not mean the ranking is bogus. Stanford University ranking has taken data from Scopus. Many of the academies in India are highly politicized. I think, in this case it is better to go by scopus data. Kdis98 (talk) 07:39, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Kdis98, the ranking which you are referring to is the work of John Ioannidis whose actual work is highly manipulated by the media/press releases. The list that he creates every year is a kind of data dump of that scientist who promotes themselves via self-citations and other unethical practices. For more details, read this article. https://www.nature.com/articles/d41586-019-02479-7. Now, even if we go with the entity's Scopus data... it's just plain mediocre work. He might get a wiki page in the future if his citations and h-indexed improves. - Hatchens (talk) 16:39, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

OK! Could you please restore the article. I want to work on it. I am learning how to write it. Kdis98 (talk) 16:43, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Kdis98, No, I cannot. I nominated this article. I didn't delete it. You need to connect with the admin who deleted the draft. Also, I am sensing a strong WP:COI w.r.t your interest in this entity. If yes, then please disclose it on your talk page. Note: COI editors should not edit affected articles directly but should propose changes on article talk pages instead. - Hatchens (talk) 16:49, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Thanks! Kdis98 (talk) 16:44, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

I saw the news in a newspaper and started collecting the articles. I have no relationship with the subject. I have no conflict of interest. If someone wants to edit it, it is fine for me. Thanks you! Kdis98 (talk) 16:55, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Out of curiosity and for my own amusement I took a look at this. Many of the references are regurgitated press releases and PR material. The draft is also being continuosly submitted without any improvements.

Kashmorwiki, All AFC is practice. We get better, we make mistakes, we get it right Fiddle Faddle 17:35, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
Timtrent, so true. The practice is the only way. Kashmorwiki, we'll do more such practice run... for sure. - Hatchens (talk) 12:37, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
Kashmorwiki, For the practice... just make sure no controversial draft, dubious draft, or a draft with multiple rejections should bypass AFC reviewing route. Genuine drafts... we will ourselves help them to be more aligned with Wikipedia guidelines but in the end, its survivability will be decided as per the derived general consensus. - Hatchens (talk) 12:40, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

Draft:Endeavor Business Media

Hello, thank you for commenting on my draft article for Endeavor Business Media. I am happy to edit this entry so it sounds more encyclopedic or like other company entries on Wikipedia, but I did believe I was writing in that fashion and could use guidance on what I am doing wrong. I posted a question in WP:TEA a.k.a Wikipedia Teahouse. I welcome feedback to make this entry publish-worthy. Thank you! Abigail Christine (talk) 21:05, 15 March 2021 (UTC)

Abigail Christine, (talk page stalker) You are a paid editor. We are volunteers. I find it very unlikely that people will offer you help. You have the luxury of a salary behind your edits. As you say in yo0ur user page: "Hello, I am Abigail Christine and I am trying to create a Wikipedia page for my employer, Endeavor Business Media, at their request. I am the company's Director of Custom Content and my intent is to write a factual company history that meets Wikipedia's standards and follows its guidelines. " Fiddle Faddle 14:50, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

Why am I designated as a "talk page stalker" when you are the one making comments on the Wikipedia draft I wrote? I am trying my best to understand how things work here, but that feels awfully antagonistic.

I was encouraged to disclose that I worked for the company I am writing an article about. Would you and all the other Wikipedia reviewers prefer that I lie and pretend to be a volunteer?

Abigail Christine (talk) 00:39, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

Abigail Christine, Click {{tps}} and you will see what it means.
If you lied you would be blocked indefinitely. Fiddle Faddle 07:46, 22 March 2021 (UTC)

I don't understand what it means, and I did not lie about anything - my point was that I disclosed working for the company I am writing the entry for, and you are taking issue that I am not a volunteer. Regarding being a talk page stalker, I'm simply responding to comments other users 9including you) are leaving for me.

I have been fully transparent in what I am trying to accomplish here and thought this platform encouraged collaboration and working together to improve content. From my limited involvement over the past few months it is clear that is not the case.

Declined CSD - EBM

I declined it for the reasons in my edit summary. I have a feeling in any case that this woudl rear its head again in the same form if speedily deleted. If choosing another mechanism remember that Draft: deletion discussions at MfD tend to be far less strngent than those at AfD Fiddle Faddle 07:11, 23 March 2021 (UTC)

Timtrent, got it. MfD is the best route in this case. Since I had nominated for an AfD once. Can I /Shall I go for that route? - Hatchens (talk) 04:09, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
Hatchens, I see no reason not to. Equally, it may as well just wither on the vine Fiddle Faddle 06:49, 24 March 2021 (UTC)
Timtrent, WP:MFD seems to be quite confusing. Do I need to put the tag on the article or at my user talk page? Kindly advise. - Hatchens (talk) 13:42, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

My article has been declined and I don’t see why it does not qualify for notability.

Hi Hatchens, My article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Manisha_Pande) was removed because you think Manisha Pande is “not notable enough” even though she is a very credible journalist and the executive editor of Newslaundry (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newslaundry)

She received the RGEJ Award; (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramnath_Goenka_Excellence_in_Journalism_Awards) which is one of India’s most prestigious award for journalism. Her news article was even shown in the Indian Apex court and she even has her own weekly web series called TV Newsance which has a substantial viewer base on YouTube. So I believe she is “notable” enough.

(Also her colleagues like Abhinandan Sekhri, Madhu Trehan already have their Wikipedia pages even though all three have the same level of notability in the journalism world .)

So could you please reinstate the article back. Rasalghul1711 (talk) 12:07, 30 March 2021 (UTC)

DYK for Jean Gustave Courcelle-Seneuil

On 9 April 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Jean Gustave Courcelle-Seneuil, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that 19th-century French economist Jean Gustave Courcelle-Seneuil is considered to be the founder of classical economics and economic liberalism in Chile? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Jean Gustave Courcelle-Seneuil. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Jean Gustave Courcelle-Seneuil), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Query about two patrols

Hello Hatchens, I hope you're doing well. I just came across two pages that you patrolled – Priti Adani and Adani Foundation – I have some concerns about both of them; could you walk me through your reasoning for marking them as patrolled without any tags or edits to them? Thanks, Blablubbs|talk 13:46, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

Hi Blablubbs, thank you for reaching out, and also thank you for the kind gesture. Yes, I'm doing good and I hope you are doing good too. Coming to your question regarding these two pages, As per the patrol log... On March 8, 2021... I patrolled Priti Adani on the basis of its content and I guess she was passing WP:GNG based on WP:RSP. Now, as far as Adani Foundation is concerned... I'm not able to recall because nothing is showing up in my patroling log. Are you sure it's me who has reviewed this page? Kindly confirm. – Hatchens (talk) 14:51, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
I am, see [5]. Blablubbs|talk 14:53, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
Blablubbs, thanks for the confirmation. As far as this page is concerned, I'm not much able to recall it. But, definitely... I would have reached to it via Adani Group page where lately I have been doing some constructive edits for the last 6 months... (primarily involved in removing corporate puffery). - Hatchens (talk) 14:58, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
My apologies if you've already been asked this, but what is your connection to the Adani Group and/or the Adani family? I'm concerned you may not be a neutral reviewer when it comes to these articles, and your involvement may be putting Wikipedia's neutrality at risk. – bradv🍁 15:33, 13 April 2021 (UTC)
Dear Bradv, thank you for adding your comment. Well, if I have been connected to the Adani group or the family... then I wouldn't have nominated the Adani Enterprises draft with the G11 tag. Please do follow the group's talk page where there has been discussion on this which can clearly state my intent & my involvement... which is not jeopardizing Wikipedia's neutrality. - Hatchens (talk) 15:50, 13 April 2021 (UTC)

NabhitKapur

Hey, I see you undid my approval of Draft:Nabhit_Kapur. Can I ask why? I know the author has attempted multiple times to make a promotional page for this person, but the current draft looks just fine. There is a lot of good sources, and no peacock terms. Dear Timtrent, need your assistance in this reviewing case. could you help? - Hatchens (talk) 06:50, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
No, i'm not reinstating a G11 tag on this draft, because it's not an ad. All these sources already in the draft make this subject pass GNG: [6] [7] [8] [9] [10] [11] [12] [13]. Mottezen (talk) 06:54, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
Mottezen, fair enough. Nominating it for MfD then. Let there be a general consensus. - Hatchens (talk) 06:56, 19 April 2021 (UTC)
@Hatchens@Mottezen I see this one as a borderline acceptance or a borderline draftification, whichever side of the border you are on. So this is very similar to a content dispute, but it is not being resolved peacefully. I am not apportioning responsibility for that. You're both grown up and can work this out together.
I have concerns about the referencing. Things by Kapur do not verify notability. So I have discarded those in my 'borderline' thinking. I see that there is just about sufficient coverage about Kapur to put me exactly on the border. I don't mind if you disagree. This is an opinion, simply. Disagreement is useful if backed with policy based facts. As you'll see by reading on I am not really here to discuss minutiae of referencing
Looking at Kapur, the man, as opposed to the referencing on Kapur, I see him as borderline, too, but just tipping into notable. We may have articles about notable things, even initially unreferenced (except BLPs), because they are notable. We expect references on unreferenced things to be enhanced over time.
On balance, I think it was reasonable to accept the draft on the basis that the community could/should improve it. In terms of a deletion process, I see it as 51:49 on surviving an immediate AfD as an article. That means you both need to judge whether draftification was reasonable.
I make no comment on the CSD
MfD on Drafts has peculiar outcomes. I've not visited it and will not offer an opinion there. My prediction is that it will be kept, but not using the same criteria as judging an AfD. Drafts tend to be kept purely because they are drafts.
I would have advised a different route.
  • Acknowledge the acceptance
  • Watch the newly accepted article for a few days
  • Consider AfD if unimproved
Not knowing who has opined what at the MfD, nor if anyone has, it is either too late to follow my thoughts by withdrawing, self closing and undoing the unacceptance, or it is not. I am not going to visit it to discover.
Thank you for asking me to comment. The lyrics of Fleetwood Mac's Oh Well apply, though I am not god, nor do I aspire to be. FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 07:28, 19 April 2021 (UTC)

Why Nabhit Kapur draft has been deleted when it was accepted

Hello @Hatchens,

Why the draft of Nabhit Kapur is deleted. One and half month ago I made the draft, you deleted it. I accepted that because at that time it was not following guidelines. But I changed everything, followed all guidelines. It was accepted by Mottezen but after some time you put this draft for speedy deletion.

I dont understand why? When everything is fine. All sources are fine what is the issue behind this. Its just I created this draft two times so you have liberty to delete it. This is not come under Wikipedia guidelines and policies.

I am aware of this fact that you have more experience than me but deleting an article without any reason is not right I think.

Looking forward to your reply Hatchens Rajveer90 (talk) 00:47, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Dear Rajveer90, thank you for reaching out. I have doubts with regards to "Nabhit Kapur" and its current references as it fails WP:GNG, WP:SNG, WP:SIGCOV, WP:RSP. Kindly re-draft the article and take an AfC reviewer's help. In case, you get stuck somewhere... ping me. Note: All my nominations carry crisp reasoning with Wikipedia guidelines/project links... kindly read and follow SmokeyJoe's advice. - Hatchens (talk) 01:57, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
Some of the references are not good. I advise to only include WP:GNG-meeting references until it is accepted in mainspace. You need two or three good sources. More worse sources make it worse. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 02:07, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for the reply SmokeyJoe,

I will check again WP:GNG. I will add two or three good sources as you said then will submit for review again. I hope it gets reviewed then!

Appreciate your time SmokeyJoe Rajveer90 (talk) 02:28, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

MfDs of drafts need to be timely and well expressed

Going back to our discussion about the odd outcomes of drafts at MfD, I have also taken that route with a couple. I'm not here to canvass your !vote. I'm using them as examples of when it might be appropriate to start them. Since I want you to be sure I'm not canvassing you will need to look at my contributions of you are interested in seeing them, Whether you opine or not and which way you opine is at your sole discretion. My intent im this post is helping with your skillset here FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 09:17, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

Dear Timtrent, thank you so much for always guiding me in the right direction. To date, I have two MfD experiences... and in both cases, my logic behind the nomination seems to be quite substandard. Believe me, my fight is still against those entity articles and their creators who are often trying to game the system and I know, I cannot be right all the time. That's why... your unbiased teachings play a very important role in developing my "skillsets". Besides that, I never felt about you canvassing my vote. I trust you and your decision... always. - Hatchens (talk) 10:13, 21 April 2021 (UTC)
MfD is a difficult arena only for Drafts. All else there is pretty normal fare. BY definition a Draft space creation is given a great deal more leeway. Almost everything else MfD handles is what might be termed "Production" material. FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 10:32, 21 April 2021 (UTC)

K Health

Hello, Hatchens! Thank you for reviewing my draft about K-Health ! Could you, please, share more details on the parts of the text, which seemed to be promotional? Also, did you find any sources that might be problematic? I'd like to improve the draft, if it is at all possible, and I really appreciate your help and patronage. Here it is for your convenience:
