Hi Hat'nCoat,

I'm new to editing documents here. I noticed that the image you uploaded to the ion pump page is in fact a neg cartridge and not a ion pump head.

These NEG cartridges by SAES Getters are being integrated into ionic pumps particularly with Gamma Vacuum pumps as it can greatly increase the pumping speed and the pumping capacity and ultimately the pump life.

NEG cannot pump methane or noble gases. Triode ion pumps have high CH4 pumping speeds and some noble pumping. H2 is the highest residual gas after bakeout and NEG cartridges have a high H2 pumping speed. Combing all these factors make a great pump for low base pressures <e-11mbar in some circumstances. Again, no moving parts, very clean, low maintenance.

If you want any more information let me know, I can provide diagrams, lab test results etc. (I am not affiliated with any manufacturer by the way).
