License tagging for Image:Neolwt.jpg[edit]

Abandoned lines of OSE[edit]

Thanks for your comment. I havent't edited that part of the article, at least I cannot be held responsible for the text ;-)

I agree, it appears a somewhat strange episode to rebuild the narrow gauge Krioneri - Messolonghi - Agrinio line without reopening the service, especially because future plans appear to target to normal gauge line there. Thank you for bringing the OSE plans to my attention! Certainly the Greek trains on the Athens Thessaloniki lines have improved - in particular the "blue trains", which are fast, comfortable and good value! My scepticism about the speed of development is based mainly on experience - for example they installed a new electric signalling control console about 15 years ago at Katerini, but it was only put into operation last year. The level crossings on the Peloponnese line South of Argos have been made unusable as far as I can see - at Tripolis, for example, the track has been filled in. --Harfo32 (talk) 19:58, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, so you travelled Peloponnesos already today? (I saw also the update "... there was no sign of readiness on January 19th." in the chapter about Corinth - Argos - Nafplion - Tripoli - Kalamata line.) It would be interesting to read more about what you saw and see photos you possibly took, hope you could e.g. add those to your website or blog. I was in Arcadia last week - though not by train! I visited Tripolis and Elefsina. The track at Tripolis could be made usable with a bit of work, at Elefsina it is usable and used (rarely). One of the tracks running through Elefsina has been used within the recent past to judge from the "rust" factor, the others not. This would tie in with the comment about service trains - dresines maybe? I went from Athens Larissis to Piraeus yesterday - a short but interesting journey. Unfortunately I didn't have my camera with me - I lost it - but I intend to get a new one tomorrow for my trip from Athens to Kalamata. May I suggest that in view of the minor controversy over the exact status of some Greek lines, there is a sub category "Disused lines" to cover those lines which still exist, at least in part, and an intention has been expressed to re-open them eventually. The main line in this category is the Southern Peloponnese section from Korinth through Argos and Tripoli, eventually joining the Northern section at Kalamata. I note that more and more narrow gauge track is disappearing at the Athens end of the line, e.g. Aghios Anarghis, which was the Athens terminus of the line not so long ago, has now disappeared! There are occasional sad looking short stretches of track lying discarded by the wayside, but I seriously doubt that any trains will run North East of Kiato again. --Harfo32 (talk) 18:20, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As for "I seriously doubt that any trains will run North East of Kiato again", I would expect there will be dual-gauge track between Patras and Korinthos (see http://www.railfaneurope.net/pix/gr/narrow_gauge/6520/20070714-301-Kiato-5522.jpg ), likely not for any scheduled traffic but for moving rolling stock between the two 'branches' of the remaining narrow gauge network. --Sivullinen (talk) 12:11, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. OSE Board of Directors[edit]

Hi,

I see there have been successive edits of OSE "Key people" (not by me, even if I appended to your Help desk question a question how to add the requested reference to this).

It seems OSE have different information on their English and Greek sites:

I probably take the blame for this.I was trying to sort out the correct infomation, but was confused by the multitude of entries and conflicting information. I found a French page http://www.amb-grece.fr/bulletins/juin_2007/16_06_2007.htm that reports the change of OSE management and seems to confirm that the persons listed on the English page of OSE have been replaced by the names on the Greek page. Photos on OSE article[edit]

Dunno why you put this on my talkpage, maybe it was intended to the project talkpage, at least I don't have that knowlege:

"Could someone with a skilled knowledge of how to lay out photos perhaps improve the layout of some of the photos displayed on this site? (OSE) I have difficulty in getting them to go where I think they would look best! I particularly have in mind the section where there are 3 photos down the right hand side of the page with no text to their left - though they are related to the article.
