For future reference[edit]

Hi HĐ, I'd like to let you know that calling another person a "bastard" is not at all helpful during a dispute (or in any discussion, for that matter). While DeadSend4's behavior was far from stellar, name-calling only made an angry person even angrier; insulting someone not only aggravates them...it can lead to you being blocked as well as them. If you feel that someone is attacking yourself or other editors, it's best to seek outside help; an AN/i report is fine if you feel you're not able to talk to the other person on their talk page.

This is not a warning and I hope you won't take it as one. It's just a note for future reference; I don't want you to get blocked for anything! Best. Acalamari 22:44, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Sales[edit]

Firstly, Hi:) Secondly, Overall sales of albums are ALWAYS estimates, there is no universally accepted source for an albums sales totals. Thirdly, why are Mariah, Beyonce, ext pages alowed to use the exact sources for album sales, but not Christina? Lastly, If you're comforable in accepting Stripped sold 12Mill by June of 06'...then how is the logic that it sold 13M by January 2014. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChristinaLover (talkcontribs) 07:46, 18 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@ChristinaLover: Then you can add, if you want. But I'm afraid that the source is not WP:RS. Simon (talk) 08:57, 18 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Then im going to use it and try and find other updated and "reliable" sources on overall album sales(even though no such thing exists) but thanks for the reply. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChristinaLover (talkcontribs) 09:15, 18 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You need to stop[edit]

Ive been checking up on your contributions to wiki. Some of which have been pretty amazingly written, but when it comes to christina aguilera you seem to have a facade. You remove large sections of content from pages which have relevent reference and contribute to integrety of the article. Removing nearly 1300 characters which have been in her main page for years?? Really? Ive notified several longtime contributors of your possible malicious intent to christinas pages.I'm advising you to contribute with integrity if not myself and other contributors will have no other choice but to report you for vandalism & Be warned, there are many of Us.

Regards — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChristinaLover (talkcontribs) 20:38, 16 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@ChristinaLover: So tell me, are those sections really neccesary/or even valuable for a GA-worthy? Being long is not even a criteria for a qualified article. Simon (talk) 01:57, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why Not?[edit]

Then why is the source accepted on the offcial "best selling singles" page, but not christina's.But Ok, bout 50 christina fans will be on here later fixing up this and other pages. You're malicious activities on her pages has been made aware to us on twitter and a fix christinawiki project has been started.GOODLUCK, trying to stop 50 of us from editing her pages, your gonna need it bitch.

@Mark4Mark: What you are doing is damaging all of the articles. If we compare the things you did to criterias of a qualified article (okay, Good articles for short), all of the things you added/fixed completely made the articles messes. Even the "best selling singles" page is a mess too because it is full of unreliable sources. Wikipedia is not a place for fan biases, so, you have the answer. Best, Simon (talk) 13:00, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Mark4Mark: As said above by HĐ, your contributions messed up the article. They would have made the article no longer a GA, and also, calling a user a "bitch" is not appropriate at all per WP:NPA. IPadPerson (talk) 18:56, 17 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure[edit]

I'm not sure to do what you said, but if you could fix it up i would appreciate it. Also, i would like her introductory abstract improved. Its basic and empty compared to every other pop singer whose chart feats are mentioned there but not for christina. If anything, that needs the most urgent fixing. A few new christina fans(maybe you've noticed a spike in her pages contributions already?) will joining over the weekend and we intend on fixing this up.Thank you for your long time contributions to her pages, but we're here now and your shadiness wont be dealt with.Enjoy your weekend xoxo:) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mark4Mark (talkcontribs) 12:21, 18 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

DeadSend4[edit]

The user is at it again. Revert the last few changes after reviewing which are unnecessary, the user has been removing sourced sales, reverting back any progression of the article. I don't want a 3RR so not doing it. —Indian:BIO · [ ChitChat ] 07:08, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's the amount sold (not even 200,000 copies) for an unofficial album and you're reverting that because you think it needs to be noted or because it's me editing it? For My Kind of Christmas, we're trimming the article so instead of saying it sold 903,000 copies and it went platinum - why not mention it went platinum as any song or album mentioned in the article? You suddenly want a consensus when it's me. But why am I bothering to converse with you lol. Your only action is to report me and revert any of my edits without even speaking with me. We don't need a consensus on removing sales figures for an unofficial album and add extra words in the article just to mention the specific amount of albums sold back in 2000. Doesn't make sense this is an issue. Had it been someone else, there wouldn't be a quick demand to take a consensus. I don't even see you edit on this article but somehow you know how the article has been edited in the past few weeks, the information added and are quick to revert me and report me because I'm calling you out. Back to Basics Tour: Shows[edit]

Hi HĐ,

I saw this recent edit you made to Back to Basics Tour and I am just curious as to why. Your edit sum didn't mention any specific Wikipedia policy or guidelines. The "Day Month Year" format you changed was consistent with the style being used in that particular section and is acceptable for use in both articles per MOS:DATEFORMAT and citations per WP:CITESTYLE. Moreover, WP:CITEVAR says the following:

Editors should not attempt to change an article's established citation style merely on the grounds of personal preference, to make it match other articles, or without first seeking consensus for the change. If the article you are editing is already using a particular citation style, you should follow it; if you believe it is inappropriate for the needs of the article, seek consensus for a change on the talk page. As with spelling differences, unless there is consensus to change, defer to the style used by the first major contributor. If you are the first contributor to add citations to an article, you may choose whichever style you think best for the article.

So, I think it would have been best to discuss this kind of thing first and see what others might have to say, and then make a change if the consensus was to do so. This is only a suggestion, but I think self-reverting and opening a thread on the talk page explaining why you feel this change is necessary will allow more people to get involved in the process and ensure that the edit is not questioned later on. Besides, there's really no rush to change the format since it seems to be more of a stylistic preference than anything else, and the article will not be irreparably harmed if this change is not immediately made. Thank you. - Marchjuly (talk) 07:16, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Marchjuly: Hi there, and thank you for your message! Firstly, I have noted your recent edit on the article, too, and I think that is quite appreciated. Secondly, about the issue above. At first, the dates used to be like this (mm dd, yyyy). Since June 2013, I started involving in the project alone and fixed all the mdy dates to dmy (dd mm yyyy) dates. However, I realized that it is better to keep up the original mdy dates, so that's why. Cheers, Simon (talk) 09:03, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the explanation HĐ. I didn't check back far enough so my bad. Since you've switched back to the original date format format for the citations, may I suggest the same be done for the "show dates" listed in "Shows" per WP:CITEVAR MOS:RETAIN as well. Thanks - Marchjuly (talk) 09:48, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Marchjuly: Oops, I totally forgot about that. Thanks for reminding me, I will fix as soon as possible. Simon (talk) 13:04, 26 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you :D[edit]

Thank you very much for the award. I really appreciate it and it means a lot to me. I am planning to create an article for every song on Beyonce before the end of this summer. Which song would you like to work on? I planned to work on "Haunted" next because there are a lot of sources mentioning that song, a lot of reviews and it will have big amount of content as it is a two-part song ("Ghost"/"Haunted"). I Am... ***D.D. 11:17, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@My love is love: "Haunted" is great tho, but we need third-party sources to pass WP:NSONGS (for example, "Jealous" has its own Atlantic article). Simon (talk) 11:38, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
For "Haunted", I have found several third-party sources (Consequence of Sound, Vulture)... Simon (talk)
Lol, I have just found those and I was preparing to post them here. But the first source is not about "Haunted". However, there is is a thorough review of the song here. I Am... ***D.D. 11:44, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Just a note: WP:NSONGS states that coverage from album reviews does not count as notable coverage for songs, and that songs that are only covered in album reviews do not warrant a separate article. This especially applies if the coverage it receives is brief (album review or not). Snuggums (talk / edits) 11:58, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@SNUGGUMS: Yes, but there are sources discussing the song separately ([2] and you can see some above) and "Haunted" was also included in the Pazz & Jop list. I Am... ***D.D. 12:11, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed the above links, it was just a general notice. Snuggums (talk / edits) 12:18, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
When would you like to start? I Am... ***D.D. 12:46, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@My love is love: I can start anytime you want. But let's start a sandbox first. Simon (talk) 12:56, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
An article for the song was previously created by User:Another Believer (it can be seen here). I copied it in my third sandbox where we can work on it. Make sure that when you add references you leave the accessdate part blank so we can only add the date before we publish the article. Plus the categories are hidden so there is no unnecessary confusion. I will log out now and will be back in several hours. Feel free to do whatever you want and whenever you want it. Lorde discography[edit]

Thank you for your discussion with me. But the sale figures notes for albums aren't unnecessary at all. It's very useful. It can clearly tell the reader the date that figures estimated as of.In fact, I was the first one who added the year estimated under the sales figures (see here). After I saw many discography pages,I think the format that sales figures notes is the best. The format you took for example is a little messy.

EX:

Sales(1) Sales(2)
  • US: 1,330,000
    (as of 2014)[1]
  • WW: 2,470,000

Messy Concise

OGG file[edit]

Hi, HĐ. I want to know how do you upload an OGG file (like what you did to Fancy (Iggy Azalea song). Thanks, DEW. Adrenaline (Nahnah4) 08:08, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Nahnah4: Oh, hello there! I can show you how: You need to download Audacity, an open-source audio editing program. Open the file of the song (you need an expansion to open M4A files, which is the default for iTunes downloads). At the bottom of the screen, enter in the length of the sample you want (less than 10% of song, and no more than 30s, per WP:SAMPLE). Try out different start times and play the clip until you get the sample you want. Copy and paste this into a new project (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+N, Ctrl+V). You can select fade in and fade out effects under the "effects" menu at the top. When you are done, click File→Export and choose "Ogg Vorbis Files". Select "Options" and slide the quality down to 0 (per WP:NFCC#3b). Save the file, and upload to Wikipedia as usual! In the Wikipedia Upload Wizard there is an option for audio samples, which provides a template for the relevant data for you to enter. Cheers, Simon (talk) 14:27, 14 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
So you use Audacity too! I was using Audacity, but I wanted to convert it to OGG, and they said that a project must be in .aup extension. Does this really help? DEW. Adrenaline (Nahnah4) 03:09, 15 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Nahnah4: I used Audacity very frequently, and there is no problem with that ".aup" format. First you should "export" the file to OGG, and second you can save it entirely in OGG file. Best, Simon (talk) 04:57, 15 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Actual pre-Lorde live performances marked by you as 'cliched performances' with 'unreliable sources' and removed - please explain[edit]

Hi there HD. I noticed that you have done a major 'clean up' of some of the actual historical events in Lorde's early career. Can you please re-instate these urgently. I would be interested to know why you have flagged these as 'clichéd peformances', when they verifiably did happen. These events all have solid and correct reference links to an online ticketing website - they were advertised with EventFinda in New Zealand in 2011. All online references are linked to each actual publicized event's page. Please re-instate these edits as they are real, verifiable, and reliable (see all references to www.eventfinda.co.nz in your deleted edits). I see no premise for you to have vandalized factual contributions that meet Wiki's standard's for verifiability and accuracy — Preceding unsigned comment added by DustyTheStar (talkcontribs) 16:15, 13 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you continually vandalising solid contributions made by Wiki users on the Lorde page, without any stated reasons, other than referring us to your Katy Perry site ?[edit]

HD - I see you have not replied to my previous Talk request regarding steamrolling researched and verified content on the Lorde page. However, you seem to have the time and energy to continue to wipe out content to suit yourself. Having yesterday corrected your 'vandalism', I see you have now again reversed all changes, with the pithy and self-aggrandizing (look it up) comment "Reverse all, see Katy Perry". WTF ?

Wiki is about everyone contributing, not JUST YOU. I have read your history and see that you have upset contributors in the past by vandalizing major contributions made by editors, even to content that has been posted for some time. Why are you doing this? Are you seeking fame and fortune online ? If so this is hardly the forum. Write a blog. I am reversing your latest unexplained cart-blanche 'changes'. If you continue to vandalize this content without due process or explanation, then you most likely will need to be stopped by arbitration. Take responsibility for your actions and let other contribute. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DustyTheStar (talkcontribs) 15:44, 18 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

So[edit]

Hello, I recently got Peter Gabriel's 1986 album So up to GA, and I have now nominated it to be peer reviewed with a view to taking it to FA, and was wondering whether you could offer some comments? I would also be able to assist in your PR of Lorde, who I'm pretty familiar with, in return. Of course, if this isn't your thing, then feel free to leave it! Cheers, —JennKR | 16:17, 19 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@JennKR: As I'm quite busy this month, it is quite touch-and-go if I can take a look on the peer review. I'll try my best. Cheers, Simon (talk) 03:10, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

FAC for xx (album)[edit]

Kindly refrain from vandalism[edit]

@Vicky Coren: I have given my reason for undoing your edits. Please check. Thank you. Simon (talk) 15:57, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
The fact that Lorde is the primary subject of two South Park episodes and a music single more than warrants its inclusion on her page. If you continue to remove this section I will be forced to seek higher adjudication. Vicky Coren (talk) 16:08, 17 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Halloween cheer![edit]

Can you check sources (including MTV EMAs) that whether is correct or not? 115.164.186.151 (talk) 04:57, 1 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I asked Dan56 to figure it out, but he can't do it. I think "alternative" in the infobox from source that is she won "Best Alternative [artist]" on MTV EMA, not the album. 115.164.222.47 (talk) 00:01, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I may not be familiar with this article, but I know for sure genres are subjective interpretations and as such should be attributed to professional critiques (WP:SUBJECTIVE), i.e. the most reliable source on the topic... and an award show category doesn't qualify, especially not when there are a handful of reviews from mainstream critics. If none of those critics viewed this music as "alternative", then it shouldn't be in the infobox. That's my opinion on this @115.164.222.47:. Dan56 (talk) 03:32, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

"Critically acclaimed"[edit]

As defined by the 1.The Oxford dictionary & 2. Its official wikipedia dictionary page, critcally acclaimed is defined as:

1. "Publicly praised by noted critics" & 2. "obtianing good or favourable reviews from a number of noted critics".

In music, The GRAMMY Foundation (http://www.grammy.org/grammy-foundation), Entertainment weekly ect. have several music critics. These critics give their opinions on albums, songs, performances ext. Stating that a performance is critically acclaimed when one has verifiable sources, is not biased nor is it cliched on the part of the editor since it does not reflect their view but that of others, hence why it is allowed in sections such as "album reviews" ext. You keep reverting my edits without a valid reason which leads me to believe that you are the biased one. Please refrain from bringing your those views into Christina Aguilera pages as you have done before your recent edits have been great. Also personally, i never edit a page without having valid sources, nor have I ever made biased edits in the past.
