Simulation12[edit]

I think that Simulation12 might be back, now under the name of "Marcellusb". If you look at his/her contributions then you'll see a similar editing style to Riley. I may be wrong since he/she has been around before Riley, but i may also be right. If he disruptive edits continue, i will go to the requested blocks page. Elbutler (talk) 20:50, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's good to know that you're enjoying your vacation, i spent almost all my vacation cooking and editing wikipedia, i guess i'm wiki-obssessed. Also i noticed that you said Martha Speaks is crappy, i kinda like it. But i agree with you on "It's a Big, Big, World" that show stunk, no wonder it only lasted a few months.

P.S. tommorow is the start of the 25 days of Christmas. Elbutler (talk) 23:55, 30 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, but there's a small problem[edit]

I very much appreciate your support; however, it would probably be better if you just !voted support once. Shall I leave you to take care of that? Thanks so much. Risker (talk) 03:32, 1 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bored[edit]

Gladys i'm bored. Vandalism has been kinda slow on children's articles lately, and i'm still waiting for an admin coach. It's gotten to the point where spend a lot of my time reading the admin's board, reading interesting tales of disruptive users. Is there any project or something that i could do? Elbutler (talk) 13:52, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Of utmost insignificance, while I'm sure there are merely enormous things that are of lessor importance, I saw this pop up. It's actually a spamlink. That person likes to periodically add that website. When I see them come along, I usually follow their edits, but in this case, they've restrained themselves to the one. Yngvarr (t) (c) 15:11, 5 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Candian airdates[edit]

After i began to read other tv shows articles, i realized that the candian airdates in List of Martha Speaks episodes are not needed. So i started a discussion here. I came here because i thought you might be interested in adding to this discussion. Elbutler (talk) 17:06, 7 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Caillou & Cancer, again...[edit]

Howdilly-doodily Gladys! Guess what? Your message about cancer on the Caillou article seems to be drawing the worms out of the woodwork!!! I just reverted an IP editor (User:72.12.175.121), who posted this on the Caillou article. It appears from his/her/it's talk page you only blocked them 3 or so days ago... Go get 'em, Tiger :) Thor Malmjursson (talk) 02:26, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Teletubbies edits[edit]

Re your message: I'm not sure what the motivation is behind Bambifan101. The edit with the big change is this one. He/she has a preferred version of the article and that is what he/she reverts it to. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 06:00, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merry Christmas[edit]

Happy holidays! DavidWS (contribs) 19:40, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merry Christmas also GJC! P.S. your checkuser turned out positive "Martha Runs the Store" and "The Chubby Brother" are the same people, but Riley is unrelated. Elbutler (talk) 22:31, 14 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

SSP[edit]

I noticed that you seemed to believe that processing a sock puppet report required some special mojo. They really don't ... it's more a case of reading the report and seeing if it's convincing and corresponds to reality. A good report looks like WP:Suspected sock puppets/Brianyau323 (4th) (I know, one of mine, but I know I can trust the reporter). The report lays out who the suspected master is, who the suspected puppet is, and diffs and edit histories to try to back it up. The real job of the admin is looking over the chain of logic and diffs and deciding whether there's any reasonable doubt. If there is no reasonable doubt, block. If there's reasonable doubt, open a check-user that points at the sockpuppet report. If there's big steaming heaps of doubt, reject. I'd do it, but my RFA was a smoking crater. If a few admins would just step up and do three easy ones a day, that backlog would drop off rapidly. Even when it was working properly, there weren't more than ten reports a day.

Hell, take a look at Wikipedia:Suspected sock puppets/Fnr Kllrb. How obvious can you get? Brllkrnf was created while Fnr Kllrb was blocked, took to editing the same articles with similar summaries, and, as the reporter points out, "Brllkrnf" is "Fnr Kllrb" backwards. No one could make it through RFA without enough mojo to deal with that.—Kww(talk) 00:56, 16 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Collapsing[edit]

I realize its a little long, but I'm concerned that collapsing it gives the impression that the discussion has been resolved which isn't the case here. The only other collapsed discussions on the page are in fact 2 which have been resolved.--Crossmr (talk) 05:59, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough. Consider how I've been being on the receiving end of it for 2 days --Crossmr (talk) 06:09, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comment on your RFAR thoughts[edit]

I didn't want to clog up the RFAR page, but I figured you might want a comment on your post, and some explanation. Take it for whatever it's worth though :)

You commented that "John Q. Architecture-Buff doesn't know or care". But I don't think that's true. As with anti-vandalism patrols, he may not know, but he surely would care.

Your point works well on the surface, on a topic like architecture. Until you find one of the people whose edit warring is prevented by arbitration enforcement is a bit of a crank and makes great contributions on military history, but badly skews or revert wars on architecture articles. Or until you want to read about eastern european history, israel, palestine, maybe check a fact or two on the Mongols, read up on anything that's got crank or pseudoscience connections....

You see, all of these might have people who have issues as editors, where the one thing preventing ongoing warring and issues might be arbitration enforcement adding weight to admins' efforts to keep persistent problems manageable. Take that away and we (communally) either go back to wholesale bans, or ongoing warring, on a lot of topics and disputes. Most editors won't ever see arbitration enforcement, you're right. But at this time, we (communally) don't yet have a working alternative. As with anti-vandalism patrols and the like, John Q. Architecture-Buff may never know it's helping keep his articles clean. But it may well be. FT2 (Talk | email) 13:37, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New Super Why! Episodes[edit]

I added four new episodes for the Super Why! episodes section, as I found them at the Oregon Public Broadcasting web site along with a hidden note stating that they were found there, just in case anyone was actually thinking that they were made up stories. If they get deleted, restore them ASAP. Thanks in advance and Happy Holidays! NoseNuggets (talk) 9:55 AM US EST Dec 17 2008.

The Chubby Brother's possible return[edit]

A little while ago you spotted a disruptive user named "The Chubby Brother", i think the user might be back, using an IP sock-puppet. I found an IP who's edit are very similar to The Chubby Brother's (he vandalized List of Arthur episodes, made some nonsense about "the Mystery chase kids", etc). I started a discussion on the admin's noticeboard which can be found here. Elbutler (talk) 23:47, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your comments on topic ban[edit]

With due respect he said he didn't have time to look at it and invited me to seek further review which I have done. To be accused of admin shopping in this circumstance is patently wrong. He also has not considered the block history. I ask an uninvolved admin to look at the facts.
  1. The ban was put in place before I had right of reply
  2. The block was put in place by an admin who said my block history was an important part of her reasoning but then refused to examine the block history.
  3. The block which started this was for edit warring with me placing scientific material on the page.
  4. Consider my views[1] and the extremist views of the editor who opposes lifting the ban.[2]
  5. Even this extremist acknowledges my edits are generally good; with the exception of those who oppose my scientific viewpoint, nobody has said I am not an asset to wikipedia
  6. Despite these facts I have refrained for seven months on an appeal (an appeal I was told could always be made).
  7. The VERY simple solution I propose is to lift the ban (it can quickly be reinstated if necessary)
I request that you have a look at this properly.Mccready (talk) 11:16, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gladys I have pointed out a very simple solution. I'd be grateful for your dispassionate response. Mccready (talk) 06:02, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for responding on AN/I. I have responded to your question on that page and look forward to your answer.Mccready (talk) 14:24, 20 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Arthur edits[edit]

I know i'm probally not the one to point out mistakes to an admin, but Gladys you've got to be more careful. When you reverted List of Arthur episodes, you removed a whole section and broke the wiki-tables. Don't worry, i fixed it back. Elbutler (talk) 13:12, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Poor Caillou has cancer again. Just pinging you in case there's something on the admin side you normally like to do about this. Yngvarr (t) (c) 19:04, 22 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gladys, just letting you know further to Yngvarr's message above, I have requested a Semi on the Caillou article for now, to knock some of the IP vandals on the head. I would appreciate a little backup if you feel its necessary on the article. Look forward to a bit of peace and quiet for a while on there :) Regards and Happy Christmas. edit:Julian Colton has laid a 2wk semi on Caillou for now. Let's see how we go after the semi expires. Thor Malmjursson (talk) 14:39, 24 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Peace to you :)[edit]

Simulation12 is using her IP to evade her indef block.[edit]

The title says it all. She's using her IP adress (154.20.40.205) to evade her indefinite block. I know you said that you can't block users your involved with, but i think you make an exception here. She's started her disruptive editing again. Elbutler (talk) 01:45, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Update: Reported her to Admin's Intervention Against Vandalism like last time, hopefully this will help. Elbutler (talk) 01:55, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Simulation12--or her "sister"[edit]

She's back ... hasn't edited since 9 pm Eastern, but thought you should know. Blueboy96 04:09, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, she just came off her block today. Blueboy96 04:34, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It's gotten worse, she's used her unblocked IP to create a sock-puppet account: Tddmoines. I know because she copied off my user page, re-created the same sub-pages (which she doesn't want people to touch), has the same editing style, and says she lives in canada, i'm 99% sure it's the same person. Elbutler (talk) 22:10, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, both sock-puppets were blocked. You missed all the action Gladys. Elbutler (talk) 22:31, 26 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Editnotice[edit]

Hi. The preferred way to use editnotices in userspace is to use Special:Mypage/Editnotice and Special:Mytalk/Editnotice, to allow non-admins to have personal editnotices and also an easier detection and maintenance of editnotices in non-user space (using prefixindex). So could you please relocate your editnotice from Mediawiki:Editnotice-3-Gladys j cortez and then delete the page ? Thanks in advance, Cenarium (Talk) 01:56, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

At the time I think the subpage feature for userspace was not implemented yet, so it could only be enabled through mediawiki namespace. Happy new years too, Cenarium (Talk) 03:44, 27 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

For blocking this user here: [3]. That took a lot of huggling off my shoulders! :) Andy (talk) 12:54, 28 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Moves[edit]

(from protonk's talk p.) If you're an admin you certainly ought to learn about moving pages--and reverting edits. See WP:MOVE and the related material. If it's unclear, Wikipedia: the Missing Manual and How Wikipedia Works have good explanations. As for the more complicated merges--that's a special art, and, not having the patience, I tend myself to leave them to others. DGG (talk) 20:04, 31 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gladys, this article is currently at B-status. Look at its milestones. It became a FA and was on the main page way back in summer 2006. As far as the WP-and-FA-world is concerned, wasn't that forever-ago? Since the criteria has become more stringent since, I can understand why it was downgraded in Sept. 2008. Its current quality doesn't even warrant it a GA, I think. This is a good time to improve it, with the 40th anniversary of the show and the publication of the new book. It definitely needs work. --Figureskatingfan (talk) 17:14, 2 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
