On Commons GeorgHH

Hi GeorgHH, you have recently emailed me regarding 2 images (LiSu.jpg & LiSheng.jpg) I unloaded awhile ago. The artist of these 2 images had been dead for 70 years. He was born in 1886, and died in 1937. Do I still need a copyright tag thingie for the images? If so, how? I don't quite get what you want me to do.

Thanks.

Buqing {{unsigned|74.117.241.89}

You removed my self-taken image of a rare VC-15 military plane even though I clearly labled it as self-photographed and in the public domain. Why did you do this?

Malcom[edit]

Thanks for telling me about its deletion. I don't mind though; the article has a much better free picture at the moment, and thats all I cared about in the first place. Thanks again for telling me though.--CyberGhostface (talk) 00:48, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Germany Invitation[edit]

Hello, GeorgHH! I'd like to call your attention to the WikiProject Germany and the German-speaking Wikipedians' notice board. I hope their links, sub-projects and discussions are interesting and even helpful to you. If not, I hope that new ones will be.

Hello[edit]

I just noticed an image of actor Glenn Strange was taken down. Why? It took me days to get that right. Can you help in telling me how to do this right. I thought I did it 100 percent correct. I made a solid effort. Thanks, Electric Japan (talk) 14:54, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, the image was uploaded to Commons with a fair use rationale. Commons doesn't allow fair use material, see Commons licensing policy. You can upload fair use material here on english Wikipedia, but not on Commons, sorry. --GeorgHH (talk) 18:27, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Handling of Images[edit]

When making changes to images in an article or on Wiki, please provide the rationale for what you are doing. Unexplained changes create confusion.--THE FOUNDERS INTENT TALK 14:18, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your message is also confusing, you should give an example for what you talking about. --GeorgHH (talk) 10:02, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ghana images[edit]

PLease restore my Ghana images of Sekondi asap. I have notified Riana who was absent and I have even received a clear message granting use of them under GFDL. i do 99% of my work on wikipedia so I didnt see your messages. I posted an email to commons permissions and nothing was done about it. I had specifically sent another message to the flickr users to issue a clear statement that wikipedia is free to use them:

Well here's the message I received at flickr:

Hi James:

To confirm:

Wikipedia is granted use of these images under GFDL.

If you need higher resolution versions, please let me know!

Cheers,

Doug Murray Vancouver Canada

I expect these to be restored asap, and given the correct OTRS ticketing. Thankyou Ernst Stavro Blofeld 16:38, 17 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Commons cat template[edit]

Hi Georg, when adding the {{Commons category}} template to an article with just a references section, as you did at Jeff Hardy (swimmer), please add it somewhere where it makes sense semantically. I've moved it to the top of the section in each of the cases where you added it, but I can't see if that position looks good because, as it says on my user page, I use a screen reader. It should go above any navigation templates, as nobody would expect a sisterprojects template below them. The persondata, categories and stub templates are pretty much metadata, (data about the article), and putting a sister projects template along with them makes no sense semantically.
