Hello. Regarding the recent reverts you made: You may already know about them, but you might find Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace useful. After a revert, these can be placed on the user's talk page to let them know you considered their edit was inappropriate, and also direct new users towards the sandbox. They can also be used to give a stern warning to a vandal when they've been previously warned. When you go along just reverting vandalism, the failure to place a warning on their talk page does nothing to get them blocked. Thank you. Edison (talk) 19:15, 29 October 2008 (UTC)

You didn't cite a reference on the page, that's the whole point. Removing unsourced death information from the biography of a living person is not vandalism. See WP:GRAPEVINE. Tim Robbins's Birth Year

Hi, I reverted your source change for the birth year and pointed you to a discussion about using ancestry.com. Not only is it not reliable, many users, of course, can't really use it without paying money. Also, although I couldn't fit it in to the explanation, look at other cited sources in the article that question whether the birth year is 1958 or 1959. I think you misread the discussion of Ancestry as a reliable source. The discussion centers around using the generic home page as a source or user generated content. I referenced a specific database at Ancestry. While it's true that Ancestry is a pay service, It is available for free to millions at their public libraries. I noticed your edit on the discussion page for 168.215.131.150. Please see my request just above it for a prem block for that IP address. Not sure what the procedure is but most if not all the edits in the past made have been vandalism and there's no way to prevent this unless we require for to have accounts. Not sure what the procedure is for that but I;ve noticed it elsewhere done for troublsome ip addresses. I;m assuming your discussion edit is a copy and paste and you didn;t noticed the very long page about the previous problems.

Not something I usually do and was not intentional. I usually patrol using WP CVN, and I open about 50 tabs in succession. In this case I didn't realize that the Medieval Times edit occurred after the Dwayne Johnson edit. GcSwRhIc (talk) 18:23, 4 February 2011 (UTC)

This is a biography of of living person. Source 7 is of extremely dubious reliability and does not even state that Skye is a lesbian only that after her divorce she had a relationship with another woman. I am a little cagey about reverting because of my work on this article that came up on the Special Pages today – possible NPOV on my part. The article is Saraikistan Movement, a stub with a ref that I thought might be worth a helping hand. I had to copy/edit hone down and add cats, stubs and links, but I think its worth developing. User:141.70.82.221’s hit and run took off information that was verified in the cite. I would have normally shrugged this one off but I see that this user IP has been vandalising other articles. Thanks for your opinion on my edit re; 2011 Sendai Earthquake, although I did specifically state, in face of the unusual request, allegedly by Japan, and reiterated by the UN spokeswoman that "only a handful" of rescue teams from specific nations were requested by Japan, in what may be considered a denial, or I should say, lack of awareness to the seriousness of the disastrous situation. Even though this is Wikipedia, "free speech" medium, please maintain logic in regards to what is "International response". Japan's request for something is merely Japan's governmental response to the impeding crisis. Run a checkuser on user Zagalejo and you will see what I am talking about. First my concern is not with Zagalejo, it's with the edit you made. Zagalejo has made 45,000 edits and has rollback and reviewer rights. I doubt very much if he/she is a sock puppet. That comment was culled from local newspapers of recent times, and is widely accepted as truthful by Southampton people. Including those like myself from who's front door can see the school referred to, and is not a half-mile from where Titanic sailed. I'll inquire about the precise location of the newspaper reference. Please point out a particular edit that you didn't like. Under construction means everyone can help. The version before my edits contained a lot of peacock words. There were also grammatical errors. I submitted an edit to Margarita Engle article on 4/1/11 at the request of Engle herself -- Just realized this morning that the updated article was reverted (I think by you) back to the old one.

I know it was you first edit. I looked at the changes for several minutes before reverting. Try one edit a time rather than one edit at once. Start with the lead. Don't remove other occupations like botanist if she has been one. Don't put the before Cuban-American as she is one of a group. Then move to a biography section. Then update the Bibliography section. It is detailed in depth in the sources at the bottom of the article and further sources are given for this in the text in specific sections. You will also notice that his Nobel Prize in Physiology has no citation in the summary section, as it is detailed below in its own section in the main text. For good measure, I found two additional sources and put them after the sentence, though it looks odd to have now three citations to follow this broad summary sentence.

Rather than deleting my addition, it would have been just as easy for you to read the article to see that there were several references to his collaborationism and eugenics work for Vichy France in the main text that were all properly cited. That is incorrect the were no mentions of collaboration with the Vichy Government or the Nazis until you introduced them. Collaboration is a very weighted word. I reverted the page back. I have a feeling that you are taking an interest in my posts. I am not malicious, but like some people are interested in cars, boats, and such I am interested in making sure Jewish people are properly identified. This is not a crime nor is it in violation of wiki rules. Background of people is important and I make sure that it is known, at least for this particular group. I am doing a service.

As to Rossum, she is Jewish. If you yourself are not Jewish then I would have you ask your Jewish friends (if you have any) to confirm that the only requirement, for sure, to be a Jew is a Jewish mother. Whether she practices or not is not the question; or even self identifies. In Jewish culture she would have to forever renounce her Jew and excommunicate herself from her people. Jews as a group can excommunicate individuals but this is very, very rare. The most notable example in Western eyes would be Spinoza. So my point is YOU would have to CITE or REFERENCE that event, the event of her renunciation. It is your burden, not mine. I simply "enhanced" her page with the already included fact that her mother was a Jew and therefore she is a Jew.GegenIsrael (talk) 19:22, 10 April 2011 (UTC)

That may be how you feel as a Jew, but Wikipedia policy on Biographies of living persons is clear the subject "must self identify" their religion. Hello. Could you please explain your rationale for removing The Hunger Games from this article? Is there an RFC or some other community consensus on pre-production films in the filmography table? WP:CRYSTAL is clearly not it. WP:CRYSTAL is about unverifiable speculation. There are plenty of news sources that confirm Jennifer Lawrence, including IMDB, as seen on The Hunger Games article. Yes there is an accepted consensus that that preproduction films are excluded. WP:CRYSTAL does apply under the first condition "Individual scheduled or expected future events should only be included if the event is notable and almost certain to take place. Dates are not definite until the event actually takes place. If preparation for the event is not already in progress, speculation about it must be well documented." Because is no film yet it is by definition not part of a filmography. Many things can happen which can preclude an actor from getting to the filming stage which why mention of an upcoming preproduction film is kept to the main body. academic notablity

O, I definitely read the notablity guidelines before adding the tag alright, how do you think I found the tag in the first place? Realize that all those I tagged are basically resumes copied from their department pages - probably made by overzealous editors who needed extra edit count for their ego or the person in question themselves. You do realize there are literally MILLIONS of academics who could be added by the flimsy requirement of a few journal citations or "o this person is a professor and has a resume online" - which as I read the guidelines again I do not find. Just for being a professor at a university is clearly not enough for notablity. You know what - wikipedia sucks - it has special interest articles everywhere such as every random village or constellation in some database - clearly made by zealous people after edit count...but no article on a major mountain that sits across 2 states. And when you try to help by pointing out a few academics who clearly don't deserve an article in an encylopedia, you get ganged up by people just because you're an "IP editor" and that somehow makes you inferior. Personally I don't think it's ever appropriate. Anyone interested in Astrology can figure out the sign. Additionally there are different types of Astrology. Some people follow Tropical astrology and some follow Sidereal astrology. The general consensus is that it's trivial. The only possible time is when properly sourced the individual in question states that the believe in astrology. See archived discussions below:

Regarding the Marion Cotillard filmography

Thanks for informing me regarding the particulars of editing filmographies. I understand that the movie I listed Ms. Cotillard in is yet to be released, however, she has signed on for the film and if it is a matter of verification the notes already exist within the page (I didn't want to rewrite the same note). If the matter is regarding the film's release, then I urge you to look at the myriad of wikipedia articles that have listed forthcoming projects in the same manner as I had done so. A few examples are in the pages of Cobie Smulders (actress), the Batman film series, Christopher Nolan (director), and Christian Bale (actor). I hope this clarifies everything. If you still feel that the addition was improper, do keep it as it is. However, should the policies of wikipedia allow for the original change, I would appreciate it to be returned for the benefit of the article. As I do not have an account here, the best I can do is ask you to post a request for someone else to fill it in (if the original cannot be recovered); facts need to be written. I didn't warn in that instance, but it is incorrect to say I don't warn. I've made about 3500 User talk edits over 90% are warnings. I'm also not sure what you mean about explain it in the edit summary. The Deidre Donnelly edit had an explanation. Twinkle is a vandalism tool but not vandalism only which is why there is a revert good faith option. Per the Twinkle page: "should not be used to undo good-faith changes in content disputes unless an appropriate edit summary is used." GcSwRhIc (talk) 18:00, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

If you look at the Category:Actors from Illinois, you will notice the subcategory Category:Actors from Chicago, Illinois. She is in the sub category as are other actors from Chicago. Niels Bohr

You have several times told me I am vandalising ? the page about Niels Bohr

Because I put accurate informantion in it: About af few points I have investigated - by reading the note nr. 6: About Niels Bohrs meeting with Roosevelt in august 1944 and with Churchill maj 1944. And read about the same topic in Robert Jungk's book "Brighter than a thousand Suns" (published first 1956) page 160.

I have also read note 20 - all Bohrs notes after the war about his meeting with Heisenberg in 1941 (released by his son Aage Bohr) and Michael Frayn's postscript about the same meeting in the latest edition of his play "Copenhagen". (First published 1998). And Heisenberg's letter about the same meeting printed in Jungk's book page 100.

And I have written theese sources many times as comments, to describe why I did the editing? And still I am attacked again and again for vandalising the page? Even when I just use those common sources and notes - used and placed allready at the page??

I believe facts are facts. And it is only possible to edit and change the text after the use of such reliable documents, as I mention here?

Why do you then again and again attack for me for vandalising the page?

I am a new costumer - and highly surprised of this manner?

Not a single comment on your talk page mentions vandalism. I gave you a welcome notice pointing out the importance and need for properly sourcing content. Citations DO NOT go in comments. I was hoping you would review the links in that notice and familiarize yourself with sourcing. You then added an unsourced sentence about Gestapo surveillance. It could have been deleted as unsourced. Instead I placed a citation needed template which you improperly removed and removed references from another section. I then commented to about removal of templates. You have continued to add content without a single verifiable source. If you read the links in the welcome notice, you would be familiar with how to cite sources and we wouldn't be in this situation. If you care about this article, please read Wikipedia:Citing sources. As a new costumer, I am quite unfamiliar with all procedures, but I could read it is possible directly to change and edit texts with credible information.

I have now put many comments on my changes - about 10-15 times - and refer to sources allready named at the page!

I have even mastered to put in several referings to sources - even I dount understand the technic!

Very often informations om Wikepedia are not sourced!

But writing in one place: Bohr and Heisenberg never left written information about the meeting in 1941! - and then among the notes refer to Bohrs notes about exacly that meeting released in 2002 and Heisenbergs letter in 1955 to Jungk (about this meeting) printed on page 100 in his book - is clearly necessary to change!

I have researched all my edits properly before I edited anything.

And named all my sources many times in the comments - see history!!

I understand this type of conflicts are the conditions in Wikepedia - and I like the project.

And hope my edits now stay in the texts. Or we must discuss it further.

After all - my sources are named quite clear - and given several times in my comments?

So what's wrong? I dount get it?

Yolanda I rearranged the text to follow WP:OPENPARAGRAPH. Nationality, what he is followed by why he is notable. Science editor and envoy should then follow as his current status. It's a little complicated at first but the goal is to have a consistent encyclopedic style starting with the lede to quickly establish who the person is and why they are notable. I can't encourage you enough to use edit summaries first to help other editors, but at least for myself it forces me to think about the edit and why I have done it. I can't as I'm not an administrator, but I filed a request at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. In the future if you have someone who continues to vandalize or violate BLP after a level 4 warning, an AIV request should be made. If you find yourself reverting a lot of vandalism, you might consider using Twinkle. I would read up about it, but it certainly makes fighting vandalism easier and has an AIV option. You need to cite a reliable source for your addition. People often don't speak with correct grammar. The current article source indicates "the gun metal". If you have a source that has a different quote, then it needs to be cited. Unfortunately, just saying the Biography Channel is not good enough. The source needs to be verifiable, just as I was was able to verify the current quote before I reverted yours. If want to know how to cite, see Wikipedia:Citing sources. If you go to my User talk page, you will find, besides a list of BLPs that I had to drop everything to hunt up sources for, several "Proposed deletions." Generally, I was able to save the articles, although the most recent one did not get saved, and was replaced by a redirect to [[Dinah Shore]].
