COI Editing Comment[edit]

It is good that you asked the question before jumping right in and typing away. What I've found in the over ten years I've been here is that entries MUST be verifiable by a separate, third party source. That is to say that "XYZ Widgets" could be a world leader in widget production but if that isn't backed up by a reliable reference, it won't likely be included for long. I would say that the safest play would be to give me a heads-up here on what you're thinking about adding or simply place the help-me tag on the talk page of the article you wish to edit along with the information you wish to have included or do what you have already done and ask away at the teahouse. If there is substantial outside source info to support what you've added, it' is unlikely to be an issue. I guess that's it in a nutshell for now, it's ten to two in the morning and I am outta here for now. Again, welcome.   Aloha27  talk  04:50, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Searching for a main "broken reference" category[edit]

Is there a general catch-all category for pages that have referencing issues that then links to the more specific subcategories? I'm wanting to do general reference cleanup, but there are a lot of categories in the hidden categories and tracking categories and I can't find what I'm looking for. - Galactic-Radiance (Talk) 16:36, 25 March 2017 (UTC)}}[reply]

Why[edit]

Was trying to fix busted formatting on The Final Days, why the revert? You fix it please! 2600:1001:B014:178C:CC55:F6B1:B11C:E6AC (talk) 17:01, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, per our typical editing style, we normally italicize titles of memoirs, hence my revert. I'm not quite sure what happened to the formatting there - I've never seen that before! I'll take a look and see if I can figure out what the issue is - my apologies. - Galactic-Radiance (Talk) 17:10, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Ok no problem good luck. Despite being an IP address I'm familiar with the formatting and I couldn't figure it out. 2600:1001:B014:178C:CC55:F6B1:B11C:E6AC (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 17:13, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like the issue rests in the link for some reason - thank you for the heads-up! I'll see what I can do. :) - Galactic-Radiance (Talk) 17:17, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Restoring content on blocked users' pages[edit]

Hi. I noticed an editor I blocked earlier removed the block notice I added to his page. You then reverted him, to add it back again. He's allowed to remove that; it's mostly just rejected unblock requests that users can't remove. If he removes it again, just let him. It's not worth fighting over. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 18:31, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Oh! Sorry, my bad - I had remembered reading that something about block notices shouldn't be removed and I didn't realize it was specific to declined unblock requests. Sorry about that! Thank you for letting me know. - Galactic-Radiance (Talk) 18:33, 28 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for May 9[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Florida House Bill H-837, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Center for the Study of Popular Culture. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:00, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A barnstar for you![edit]

The Original Barnstar
Thank you for bringing Zeona, South Dakota, back to life, and for improving so many settlement articles. Magnolia677 (talk) 11:55, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wow, thank you so much! This was a nice surprise to wake up to! –Galactic-Radiance (talk) 17:49, 11 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Demonyms[edit]

Hi, you probably haven't noticed, but when you modified the infobox parameters from "demonym" to "demonyms", that gave unwanted results (the demonym isn't shown anymore) for some articles that don't use Infobox settlement directly, but through a wrapper (like {{Infobox French commune}}). See for instance Aigné and Abdera, Thrace. I changed them back, at least the ones that showed up in maintenance categories (Category:Pages using infobox French commune with unknown parameters, Category:Pages using infobox Greece place with unknown parameters‎, there may be more. Markussep Talk 08:24, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yep, I didn't realize that... that's 100% on me, my apologies. I'll be more careful with those, and I'm sorry about the hassle in the meantime! –Galactic-Radiance (talk) 08:32, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
OK, and keep up the good work! Markussep Talk 11:32, 14 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Coords in infobox[edit]

Hi, I noticed you moving coords into the infobox. I'm not sure how you are doing that, but two or three years ago, I was working with JJMC89 to automate this. He wrote bot code to do it, and I was going do to the manual cleanup of the ones the bot couldn't move for various reasons. He had prototype code working, and then I just got sucked into something else and never got back to it. I always wanted to get back to this someday and assume he still has the code mothballed somewhere. Just mentioning this in case you are interested in the bot approach. There would be more discussion in the archives of his TP. MB 01:26, 3 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ReferenceExpander[edit]

Just a friendly heads-up in case you weren't already aware, since it's installed on your common.js: Careless use of ReferenceExpander has caused serious problems. It's currently at MFD, and a large cleanup project is underway to repair the citations damaged by the script. I and several other users have !voted that the script be deleted or disabled, and I wouldn't recommend using it at all unless you thoroughly check every reference it modifies against the previous revision. If you're interested in a more detailed explanation of the script's issues, Folly Mox has provided an excellent summary at the MFD. — SamX [talk · contribs] 05:15, 1 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
