Discussion

In the discussion on Mughalsarai Junction railway station, you constantly seem to be upset and accuse me of contradicting your opinion. But isnt that what we are supposed to do in a discussion if we disagree? I dont think we can be expected to just speak opinions and not discuss with people we disagree with. Need help!

Hi Fylindfotberserk, can you please let me know whether you can read Bengali! Thanks. Ekdalian (talk) 12:07, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

@Ekdalian: I've a level1-to-level3 understanding of most of the Indo-Aryan languages, and since I've lived in the Indo-Gangetic plains, NE India and Maharashtra, I can grasp some of Gurmukhi, Eastern nagari and as well as non-Hindi languages written in Devanagari scripts, but a great many times I've to Google Translate them, and or compare with Standard Hindi. Can you post the links you are having problems with. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:43, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
Thanks a lot; I may need your help later! Ekdalian (talk) 12:48, 11 July 2023 (UTC)
@Ekdalian: Yeah sure . - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 12:50, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

A query

Hello Fylindfotberserk, I have some doubt regarding addition of BLP in notable people list of a caste article. I have seen BLP getting removed despite having citation as it's not self-identification. I have also seen BLP in many articles, like Bania (caste) article, where you're now working on. I haven't added any BLP, nor I am against it. I just want to know- Is it okay to add it in notable people list? Thanks.CharlesWain (talk) 18:35, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

@CharlesWain: Debashish, if the person is living (BLP) we would need self-identification per WP:CASTEID, if dead, then a good reliable source would be enough. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 19:15, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
That's what I know. But apparently it's not being followed a lot of times. Like I see Shah, Kejriwal, Adani in Bania article. Thanks for the link.CharlesWain (talk) 20:40, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
I write Debasish, but I love how my non-bengali friends in Kolkata always write my name - Debashish.CharlesWain (talk)
@CharlesWain: Kejriwal is self-identified, but the entries on Gautam Adani, Amit Shah, and Kumar Mangalam Birla are not self-identified. I've put a 'better source' tag with explanation just to thwart persistent caste POV pushers in the article. You can remove these three entries if yo want. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:51, 14 July 2023 (UTC)

bit of a doubt

hey, I saw your edit on Mitchell Starc, and it shows you reverted an edit from me, but the actual thing you edited was by an ip account, not me. just to state, this isn't anything at you at all, i was just wondering why the edit was credited to me? So sorry and thanks a lot :) Nautilusblue8 (talk) 17:53, 14 July 2023 (UTC)

@Nautilusblue8: I didn't revert your edit lol. Check it [1]. I reverted the IP. The edit was not "credited" to you, but it says "Restored revision 1164474953 by Nautilusblue8", which means I've restored your version of the article, in other words your version is good. I use "restore" fucntion much more than "revert" because in twinkle, it opens up the problem user or IP's talk page, which I do not want. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:00, 14 July 2023 (UTC)
oh my, so sorry. I feel really stupid now, but thanks a lot, lol. also 'credited' is a poor word choice, that's my bad. Nautilusblue8 (talk) 18:02, 14 July 2023 (UTC)
@Nautilusblue8: No problem mate. Nothing stupid about it. Actually appreciated that you chose to discuss it with me. Happy editing . - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:07, 14 July 2023 (UTC)

Hulk Hogan article

Hi, Fylindfotberserk. You recently edited the Hulk Hogan article to change a {{cite web}} to {{cite news}} template. But it seems to me that it's better called a website source and |newspaper= definitely doesn't apply. I reverted your change but also beefed up the cite with more info. Jason Quinn (talk) 10:42, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

@Jason Quinn: If you have seen the edit summary, you'd have known that it was done using citation bot (WP:UCB). The bot converts digital news portal sources to {{cite news}}, and it will happen again in the article whenever the bot gets activated. Secondly, I don't see any restriction regarding the utilisation of {{cite news}} for digital news portals and "www.wrestlingnewsworld.com" seems such a source. Also note that the bot does more than that, so if necessary, you have to change it manually. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:14, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

List of Saini people

On the talk page of List of Saini people, i had some discussion with Sitush. Earlier, i moved that page to Saini (surname), as it contained many people from the Uttar Pradesh, who donot belong to Saini caste of Punjab,as Saini surname is common in many communities of Uttar Pradesh as well. However Sitush inadvertently converted it into a sourced list of Sainis. Hence, I moved it again to List of Saini people. Now I want to create a Saini surname list, which will contain the people with saini surname, they may or may not belong to Saini caste of Punjab. But a redirect already exist to this. How to go ahead ?-Admantine123 (talk) 13:48, 27 July 2023 (UTC)

@Admantine123: Add content relevant content into the Saini (surname) article, remove the redirect to List of Saini people, add hatnotes on each about the other. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 16:07, 27 July 2023 (UTC)
