Jadavpur

I would leave it at that. The etire Kolkata Corporation area is considered Kolkata district, but the areas from Jadavpur to Behala have never been officially transferred from South 24 Pargnas. The electoral constituences in the area are considered outside Kolkata in South 24 Parganas, but it is Kolkata Corporation plus Kolkata Police. In the north, the Dum Dum and Baranagore areas are administratively in North 24 Parganas. Unlike Delhi, where the Naional Capital region is well defined, neither Kolkata nor Greater Kolkata are clearly defined. I personally stick to the Kolkata Corporation area as Kolkata district. The maps I have drawn of South and North 24 Parganas do not include Kolkata Corporation areas. Cheers. - Chandan Guha (talk) 11:03, 15 December 2020 (UTC)

Nikhil Khurana

Hello @Fylindfotberserk: I hope you're doing well. I saw your edit on Nikhil Khurana article [1]. It's quite awesome to justify the new changes you're making as well as the edit summary. But I'm not aware of how I can do the same WP:ELMIN, as it bit hard to remember each policy. Can you help me?. Thanks for your consideration. --C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 11:40, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

@C1K98V: According to WP:ELOFFICIAL, we are suppose to add only the official website in the "External links". However, if the said person doesn't have any other web presence, a verified social media handle can be added as per this policy. But only one such handle should be added, also if a person has a dedicated official website, social media handles shouldnot be added as per WP:ELMIN, since as per policy, they are going to repeat the contents. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:49, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
@Fylindfotberserk: thanks for the explanation above, I'm aware for that policy. What I am not knowing is, suppose I see a typo in an article, which I fixed and mentioned in edit summary WP:TYPO. But how to justify my edits like elim and typo or whatever the case is, whether I'm adding a picture or removing unsourced material. This is what I want to know, or I'm just trying to figure it out. Thanks --C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 11:55, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Sorry

My dear Fylindfotberserk, I know do not move pages like this. But I know. First of all as an example we take Bangalore. It's official name is Bengaluru, but it's common name is Bangalore itself only. So the article's name is also Bangalore. Same like that Bokaro Steel City's common name is Bokaro itself. So I think to move this page. Weareme234 (talk) 14:48, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

@Weareme234:Check "Bokaro city" only results 175 hits and "Bokaro steel city" returns 34,400 hits, so the latter is the common name. Same is the case with Bangalore. Also note that the district itslef is called Bokaro. Also a change like that requires RfC in the article talk page. You can do that. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 11:54, 17 December 2020 (UTC)

In response to your query, yes I am currently making a new page titled "Central Vista Redevelopment Project". MOS:DATEFORMAT

Hello, I hope that you are in good health. I was looking at this edit. You know more than me about MOS, still for general knowledge and for learning purpose, I want to know that was it against the policy to use the date format like MM DD, YYYY? Thanks, Мастер Шторм (talk) 14:25, 18 December 2020 (UTC)

MOS:DATEFORMAT allows both DMY and MDY formats for general use. The format is dependent on the country the article of the subject is related to. Since a lot of countries including India prefer 'dmy', I follow that format in relevant articles. For USA it is MDY. When ambiguous, I use the date format as per the ENGVAR the article is written in, if American English then I use mdy formatting, so as to maintain a consistent citation style across an article. . I've explained this before I believe in a more elaborate way in the past, forgetting to whom and when . - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 15:41, 19 December 2020 (UTC)

Sushant Singh Rajput

Respected Sir/Madam, This is in regard to the cause of death clause of the Sushant Singh Rajput article. Pertaining to the current scenario and the recent developments, it seems Unclear as to what the cause of his death was. CBI and NCB have been investigating the matter and have no announced any decision yet. Declaring a given cause would be a clear disrespect to these respectable institutions. I request you to understand my point and allow me to make the change to unclear cause of death. Chaitali Nath (talk) 13:38, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

@Chaitali Nath: As I've explained in this edit summary, you need to discuss your queries in Talk:Sushant Singh Rajput and gain WP:CONSENSUS. The present version of the Sushant Singh Rajput is a per consensus and you have been making edits against it. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:20, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

How can I gain WP:consensus? What is the procedure for putting something up for Consensus? Please expain Chaitali Nath (talk) 14:25, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

@Chaitali Nath: Please go through Wikipedia:Consensus#In_talk_pages (also other links in the article), you'll know. In short, you've to put forward your queries and suggestions supported by recent reliable sources in a new section. People will respond, some might be in favour of it, some against. If other editors agree to your proposal, the changes will be implemented otherwise not. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:34, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

Where should I put my queries and suggestions, I.e. what exactly do you mean by 'a new section'? Chaitali Nath (talk) 15:49, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

Thank you very much. Should I be clicking on "Watch this page" ? Chaitali Nath (talk) 16:15, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

It's not as unclear as you're making it out to be. The AIIMS essentially double-checked the autopsy at the request of the CBI and confirmed the initial finding of suicide. We have sources that say this and they are cited in the article and on the FAQ you're so blatantly ignoring. The investigation does not end just because the autopsy finds suicide or misadventure, especially in a situation like this involving a celebrity (see also Chris Benoit murder-suicide and Death of Michael Jackson).
In addition, as detailed in the FAQ, absolutely nobody is disputing that he died as a result of a hanging, and so putting it as "unknown" is a policy violation writ large. Even if suicide were not determined (as was technically the case before the AIIMS autopsy review) we would, and did, put "asphyxia via hanging". I can't see where there is a "clear disrespect to these respectable institutions" when we aren't armchair-detectiving and are sticking to what the reliable sources - who are themselves respecting the CBI - are saying in re the case. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Takes a strong man to deny... 18:33, 22 December 2020 (UTC)

@C1K98V: Merry Christmas to you too!. I've been enforcing this image in the article. Today I was just giving them the WP:ROPE. I knew I have to restore back the previous image when the current one gets removed from commons. Sometimes this helps in slowing down unnecessary edit wars. Jalia Kaibarta

I just restored the original content, removed without a sufficient reason, not adding any POV, which was step one, and then intended step two, to edit it (even make the reference better organised with the Cite book), but you were just too quick, not patient enough, while I was working on it, you re-edited my edit within minutes. noychoH (talk) 13:49, 26 December 2020 (UTC)

@NoychoH: The Kaibarta community had an important contribution in shaping medieval Assam. is a POV. Second non of the sources say Luipa was aKaibarta, instead it says Matsyendranath was a Kababrta-who was identified as Luipa. Please take note of WP:OR. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:55, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
This has nothing to do with OR, but I can see that you believe in the letter not in the meaning. Peace be upon you! noychoH (talk) 14:08, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
Well that's what we need to strive for ain't it? If you find a source that explicitly says "Lui-pa was a Kaivarta"", by all means add it. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:13, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
1. Re: the 1st sentence of yours, a very strong thesis, which you treat as an axiom: I absolutely disagree with you, that's only your own POV. Without entereing into meaning, relying on letter only, you coud never edit any two informations coming from two different sources into one coherent text. 2. Re: Your second sentence, a request towards me made in the spirit of the first thesis: You know better than you pretend to, that it is impossible, because in the time of his life the word "Kaibarta" was not yet in use. And the Tibetan sources used to translate the Indian names, not render them phonetically. So "Matsya" = "fish" became Tibetan "Lui" and "natha" = "lord" became "pa". In fact the 1946 book is not a source literally speaking, it is only the POV of S.Dasgupta. And the Xth-XIth century sources were never modelled upon the requirements of the XXIst century Wikipedia. So your postulation is an anachronism. 3. And concerning the other issue in your previous post, that the "The Kaibarta community had an important contribution in shaping medieval Assam. is a POV" makes me think that you belong to those hard-core Wikipedians who would like to exclude the word "important" altogether from Wikipedia because they are AFRAID that it might be a p[olitically incorrect promotion of some community. But what can be a more important contribution to a language than creating the first manuscript in the language? You have entered the path of the war of editions, I do not want to continue. That's why I said "Peace be upon you!", but you don't seem to understand. So let me clarify for you. That's the phrase people usually use durring a funeral, as the final farewell. I wanted to tell you that I do not want any more discussion with you, goodbye forever, as you understand nothing at all, but you didn't want to stop there, you have pushed me to tell the meaning in full letters. You may of course want to ban me now. You wouldn't hear any more from me. Peace be upon you! noychoH (talk) 14:58, 26 December 2020 (UTC)

Removing other's comments by mistake

Hi, thank you so much for reverting my mis-edit. I tried to reply to one new user in Talk:Kolkata, and, in the process, I messed up somehow and unknowingly removed some text. Thankfully you spotted it. Rasnaboy (talk) 13:49, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

@Rasnaboy: Welcome. Is it because of visual edit? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:50, 28 December 2020 (UTC)
No. I haven't tried that so far. I usually do manual edits. I typed the reply and went on conversing on the phone for more than an hour without saving my edit. When I tried to save later, I remember I got some warning pertaining to prolonged inactivity. When I saved again, the mess happened. Noticed it only after you reverted it. Thanks. :) Rasnaboy (talk) 13:58, 28 December 2020 (UTC)

Could you please review my edit with me?

Hi Fylindfotberserk, I am relatively new to wikipedia. You are the only person that I've really interacted with so far, so I was hoping that you could help me out.

I am doing my best to make good quality edits, but recently I was cited for disruptive editing. I'm not sure how it will go, but I already started the appropriate disruption resolution process.

In the meantime, could you go over my edit to identify things that were OK, and places where I could do better? My previous edit on that page was not OK because I converted authors into the last/first format. But I am struggling to understand why this edit is disruptive:

Thanks in advance! — Preceding unsigned comment added by TimSmit (talkcontribs) 03:29, 26 December 2020 (UTC)

@TimSmit: I don't see any problem here or here, since you added tweets with proper citation templates which they themselves did here and restored your edits here and here. The only reason this user seem to be reverting your edits is because of WP:CITEVAR. They think that |author= should not be changed to |last= and |first=, which seems like a non-issue to me since 'author' is at best used when citing books and journals, while the first-last name combo is used in most situation especially news and other things. Even then if you use this tool, it uses the 'first-last name' by default. Check for example Ed Stelmach FA article I chose randomly. It uses first-last combo as you can see. As for the date formats here. I don't know what kind of commonality they are following since the ref dates are not all of same format. I believe the warning they issued you is uncalled for, 'bullying' and displays some sort of WP:OWN behavior. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 07:25, 26 December 2020 (UTC)
@Fylindfotberserk: I really appreciate your reply. You have analyzed it in-depth and confirmed some of my thoughts. I was scared at first because this is my first "dispute" and I wasn't sure how to approach it. But after taking a step back, it does appear to be one individual user. I will raise these concerns to them on the talk page, and see what happens. Again, thanks for helping me become a better editor! TimSmit (talk) 01:30, 29 December 2020 (UTC)

Well, there is no harm in doing that manually and I don't see a reason to wait for genfixes if I happen to be on a page that is not arranged according to MOS:ORDER, also my OCD kicks in . - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 14:34, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
WP:COSMETICBOT says that "[w]hile this policy applies only to bots, human editors may also wish to follow this guidance for the reasons given here, especially if making such changes on large scales". Given that there definitely are tens of thousands of pages that would need this fix, I'm not sure doing that is worth it. The policy does have exceptions (see User:Monkbot/task 18: cosmetic cs1 template cleanup as an example), so maybe a bot could do it once a new AWB binary is published. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 17:55, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
My fixes is not restricted to changes made by AWB. In many cases we have to manually fix the order of the whole article as per MOS:ORDER and/or any relevant policies, eg. WP:INCITIES. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 18:23, 24 December 2020 (UTC)
Do as you wish. I just think doing changes like that on separate pages out of thousands is not worth the time, especially if it is possible to do this with a bot. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 10:37, 30 December 2020 (UTC)
