RE:Your recent template creations[edit]

Hey Fruminous, I had a couple of concerns regarding your recent creations of {{1969 NFL-AFL seasons by team}} and {{1969 NFL-AFL seasons by team}}. First, I am wondering why you created two templates that are basically the same thing. Secondly, I think that it would be better off if you stuck with precedence and created {{1969 NFL season by team}} and {{1969 AFL season by team}}. This would make way more sense because technically these were two different leagues and probably should be separate. I feel the templates that you have created are kind of confusing and misleading. If you have any questions I would be glad to answer them or help you out with anything. Thanks.
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 03:05, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I created the following to show you what I was thinking {{1969 AFL season by team}} and {{1969 NFL season by team}}. Then we can create {{1968 AFL season by team}}-{{1960 AFL season by team}} templates which now go to their own separate category, Category talk:American Football League season templates and create {{1920 NFL season by team}}-{{1968 NFL season by team}} templates which would still go to the NFL category. I think this looks a lot better, while also allowing us to link to the AFL pages in the AFL template (their draft, their championship game, their individual season, their all-star game). I think this would be the best solution, what do you think?
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 20:47, 7 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Haha you and I have the same thoughts, after you sent me your last message I changed the templates to include the opposing leagues season (i did it for both the NFL and AFL template) and I think it would be good practice to do this for every season the AFL was around. If you want to actually put the year and italicize it, feel free. If you like the templates though, then feel free to assign them to their proper pages. I think it would be good if we follow this format for all the AFL seasons, and then just do the NFL ones for pre-AFL seasons. Feel free to prod me if you need any help. Good luck editing.
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 00:03, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Ohhh I like the "Related" template, my vote would be for that one :-) (editing prior comment) Case 1 is my favorite.
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 00:07, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gonzo fan--

Take a look at case 4. Let me know what you think. It's my favorite right now.

Fruminous (talk) 00:08, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah I like case 4 also, make sure that you also do it for both the NFL and AFL templates, so that both point to each other. Good work and feel free to implement it whenever you feel like :-)
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 00:11, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Brilliant!-

This is a much better solution. 'Twas good working with you. I'll make the edits.

Fruminous (talk) 00:13, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

And 'twas good working with you. Are you planning on creating the rest of the NFL, AFL season by team templates?
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 00:15, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes -- I can make them, but it won't be tonight. Probably tomorrow. There was some shuffling of teams in both leagues and I'll have to get them right. The Steelers subproject has been needing these templates so we can progress to earlier years, so I'll have to get them up soon! Fruminous (talk) 00:20, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cool, well I was the creator of 90% of the Packers seasons (I had to create like 70 seasons!! :D, and I am the main contributor at WP:GNB, so if you need any help feel free to ask! Good luck.
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 00:26, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NFLproject[edit]

Hey when you create the templates can you place {{NFLproject|class=template}} on the talk pages. It will help so we dont have to do it at some later date. Thanks!
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 03:25, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem -- Just deep into creating them! ;-)

Should we put it on the AFL ones? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fruminous (talkcontribs)

Yeah, sorry just put the NFLproject on the nfl ones and the afl project on the afl ones. The afl one is {{American Football League project|class=template}}. Good work so far!
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 03:47, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cool -- I'll do it. By the way: To your earlier comment... We're starting to work on what standards that we want to achieve for the Pittsburgh Steelers subproject for the season pages. Any input that you'd have would be welcome. I'm sure that there's a lot that we can share.

Fruminous (talk) 03:50, 8 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ill take a look at them tomorrow, I am going out tonight, but I should be able to give them a good scan tomorrow. Keep up the good work!

Packers game[edit]

Yeah it was a nice game. Glad they pulled it out after the first three minutes.
Gonzo fan2007 talkcontribs 04:49, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wow that is a great find and a great read. Thanks for giving me the heads up!!

We should get this back up to Good Article status; it was at one point, but has since been removed. The article was recently protected from annonomous users, which should help us some. Oakland Raiders is currently a good article, we can use it for reference. I have started a draft in my sandbox. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to help in any way you can, there is a to do list at the bottom of the page. Any suggestions would be welcome, I have no doubt that if we work together we can accomplish this fairly quickly. Blackngold29 (talk) 18:56, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey no problem, that's understandable. Mine were actually easier than I thought they'd be, I got one left Friday then I'm done. Anyway, I was thinking that re-doing the article section by secion would produce a better product than just trying to improve the existing one. I copied the current article to here (excluding the bottom stuff we can throw on at the end). I'll put up a to do list on the discussion page. As far as I know the only GA team article is Oakland Raiders, so we could base it off that for a start. I would like to add a section about the Rooney family and merge Steely McBeam into it (I recently re-wrote it, but it's still really short. Blackngold29 00:27, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

1967 Pittsburgh Steelers[edit]

All the 1967 Pittsburgh Steelers season's times and weather conditions are now updated.

HairyPerry 13:11, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, i verified my e-mail, do i have to do anything besides that?

HairyPerry 14:06, 5 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I think something is wrong with my computer, because yours isn't working as well. It says something about an invalid log in and authenticated verification...I don't know what that means. Oh, I just got your other message and sure I will link some players on the scoring drives and spruce up some things, I've seen on the pages...as in invalid pages to player links.

Home of the 1963 Steelers[edit]

I recently re-wrote the Forbes Field article, and in my research found that the last Steelers game at the stadium was December 12, 1962, which conflicts with the 1963 Pittsburgh Steelers season article. Do you know anything or have any sources on the '63 season? If you do let us know; the discussion can be found on my talk page. Thanks! Blackngold29 14:33, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I saw your note on Blackngold29's talk page. Could you clear up this mystery a bit more, and give us a good source for the 1963 Steelers home fields? I know from newspaper research many years ago that the Steelers played their last Forbes game in 1963, but that's not good enough for wikipedia's standards. Thank you! 1967 Pittsburgh Steelers season...[edit]

The attendances are now completed for 1967. Will start on linking players now! HairyPerry (talk) 19:02, 16 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much sir it is my honor to help with anything to do with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Thank you and Happy editing.

I realize it's been quite a while, but you participated in a discussion regarding improving the article on the '78 Steelers season. I've recently taken up the cause of getting this article up to Good Article standards and have made quite a few substantive changes to the article. There's still work to be done, but the article is shaping up.

I'd love it if you would take a look at what I've done and provide any feedback on the article talk page. Thanks! — DeeJayK (talk) 21:06, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
