August 2017[edit]

Please read the guide to image deletion. Simply removing the image because you or someone else doesn't like it is unlikely to produce the results you want. NewEnglandYankee (talk) 18:59, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

It should be obvious that Wikipedia doesn't permit the subject of an article to dictate what is or isn't included in the article. If you want this image removed, please follow Wikipedia's processes. At minimum, you should open a discussion on the article's Talk page and try to achieve consensus. You have a reasonable case, in that the image doesn't obviously add anything to the article; don't spoil it. Also, issuing or implying legal threats, as you did at User talk:Innotata, is a good way to get yourself blocked. Please don't. NewEnglandYankee (talk) 19:13, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at Nevin Carr. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block. Thank you. —C.Fred (talk) 19:16, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I understand. I am new to being on wikipedia and clearly have never done this before. I dont really know how to contact the editor and thought if i removed the picture it would just remain removed. Can you please let me know the best avenue to pursue here. I have been tasked with taking this one small picture down and certainly dont want to cause any problems here.

please advise — Preceding unsigned comment added by Fieldingb (talkcontribs)

One of the big red flags in your message is "I have been tasked". There are two policies you could be running afoul of here:
  1. If you are editing at the request or direction of the subject, or if you have a personal or professional relationship with the subject, then you have a conflict of interest. An editor with a conflict of interest is not prohibited from editing the article where they have the conflict, but they are discouraged from editing the article, especially if the edit is controversial. Instead, they may request edits via the article's talk page.
  2. If you are being paid to make the edit, then you are deemed to be a paid editor and must make certain disclosures required of paid editors, in addition to following the guidelines for editors with conflicts of interest.
Finally, please consider this from our perspective. A new editor shows up and removes content. They claim to be acting at the direction of the subject, but how do we know? We have no way to verify that they are really acting on behalf of the subject and not from some unrelated (or worse, malicious) party. To verify the claim, you would have to contact our Volunteer Response Team via email; that's the only way you can provide enough information for us to verify your identity. —C.Fred (talk) 20:42, 23 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

C.Fred Thank you for all this information.Thankfully, the picture has been removed by the editor (I assume). Hopefully, I will never have to edit another wikipedia page again, but I certainly appreciate your advice. Thank you sir.
