Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Bad Lip Reading. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. Bad Lip Reading[edit]

Hi Anderson...I'm honestly puzzled by this, since I didn't actually add any new external links in the revision in question: I only removed a few unnecessary URL components from the existing YouTube links. If the extent of external linking in the "Body of Work" table is unacceptable, then perhaps the format of the entire table (as created by earlier editors) needs to be revisited, and I'd be happy to initiate that discussion on the talk page. However, my reading of the Video links guidelines suggests to me that the existing links should be acceptable. (Please note that the table explicitly does not link to the two BLR videos which have been subject to copyright claims by Universal and EMI.) Either way, simply reverting my changes doesn't correct any potential problems with the table; it just reintroduces a bunch of link cruft that really doesn't need to be there. Understood, and yes, I did undo the bot's edit. Note that most of the links in question are still there now that its edit has been reapplied, since they were there before I came along. (As I mentioned, I had simply modified their URLs to remove some unnecessary arguments.) In editing the table, my initial goal was to respect the choices of the editors who originally created it, while (a) cleaning up the formatting and URLs, and (b) adding three new songs (including new external links in the manner of the existing ones). I'd like to find a solution that respects Wikipedia's guidelines while still providing as much useful information as possible. I am wondering if this would be acceptable: I will remove the entire "Link(s)" column of the original table, including the external links that currently point to the the YouTube videos for the original songs. However, I will leave intact the external links to the Bad Lip Reading videos themselves, as included in the "BLR song and link" column. This seems reasonable to me under the guidelines, since these videos are the primary works discussed in the entry (as opposed to standard music videos whose associated songs have their own Wikipedia entries). If this is still unacceptable, I can remove the links to the BLR videos as well, explain to the original editors on the entry's talk page why I did so, and invite them to contact you and/or the bot admins if they have any questions. Okay. As you know, the Video links page states, "There is no blanket ban on linking to YouTube or other user-submitted video sites through external links or when citing sources. However, such links must abide by various policies and guidelines. Links should be carefully and individually evaluated for inclusion." Having reread those policies and guidelines, I continue to believe strongly that the subset of YouTube links to the BLR videos themselves (as opposed to the videos which they spoof) abide by their terms and should be added to XLinkBot's whitelist within this context. However, given that I am completely new to editing Wikipedia, I will advise the original authors as to why I am removing their links and invite them to reopen the discussion if they wish.
