{{Infobox Film}} proposal

I've had an idea brewing for some time now with regards to the infobox, and would like some feedback before I take it any further. Given your recent work with MOS:FILM, I thought I'd ask you! :)

Contrived example
Distributed bySome company
Release dates
United States:
January 1, 2008
United Kingdom:
February 1, 2008
Australia:
March 1, 2008
Running time
90 min.
  • At present we display multiple release dates like the example to the right.

user page transclusion removed

  • I thought it might look better (and be a more economical use of infobox space) if we did it like this. This would of course require multiple new parameters to be added to the infobox, but it would allow the template to do all the formatting, rather than leaving it to the user.

Let me know if you think there's any worth in this idea, and I can develop it further (if need be) and approach the rest of the group with it. Regards. PC78 (talk) 15:46, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind words! :) I think the biggest problem will be long names which as it stands will wrap onto a second line, though of course this is the case with the infobox at present. I'll have to pick out some relevant articles to see how it would actually look in practise. PC78 (talk) 18:10, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Citizen Kane

Thanks for the note, Erik, I intend to do a major rewrite but was backed up with other work. I did misplace where the sandbox projects were, so thanks for the twig as to where they went. FWiW Bzuk (talk) 22:21, 1 August 2008 (UTC).

X-Files: I Want to Believe image - Cont'd from July 2008

Re: Orphaned non-free media Image:X-Files I Want to Believe screenshot.png. I can't find anything that supports your caption qualification position. This appears to be a personal interpretation of yours and possibly other editors, why is okay, but can be challenged. The article Wikipedia:Captions makes no mention of copyright issues and the word "caption" does not appear in these articles: Wikipedia:Non-free content, Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria, Wikipedia:WikiProject Fair use, Fair use, Wikipedia:Copyrights, Wikipedia:FAQ/Copyright, Copyright infringement, Wikipedia:Copyright violations, Wikipedia:Suspected copyright violations, Wikipedia:Spotting possible copyright violations, Wikipedia:Copyright problems, Wikipedia:Image use policy. Again, no mention of the word "caption" in any of those relevant articles. Since you are the editor who keeps removing the image, why don't you write a caption that meets your caption qualification needs. I put an urgent request on Talk:The X-Files: I Want to Believe but nobody seems capable and I have not seen the movie yet and may wait until it comes out on Blu-Ray. Just a description of the scene it comes from, wouldn't that work for you? 5Q5 (talk) 20:24, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply over on my talk page (I may eventually clear the topic and relegate it to the history log). I think I can argue further your points, like How does a picture of the characters signify their understanding of the topic? Answer: the characters haven't been seen onscreen for many years and the screenshot shows them aged, not young from the TV series, which helps readers who have seen neither to understand the current film being discussed in the article. Anyway, the problem here really is that I haven't seen the film so I can't fix the caption and since you won't, I'll have to let the image expire from the server. Case closed. :) 5Q5 (talk) 20:47, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Discussion

Hi Erik its not about the templates. I don't mind whether they are replaced with see also sections or not and I always appreciate a consensus between the group. What I have become tired with is everything I join in a project discussion I am told by Giro what I should say or that despite me creating a whole batch of templates or articles it has nothing to do with me. It does concern me but it also concerns the group and the general community. This has happened on many occasions to the point I no longer want to be a part of the group. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 14:37, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

Its not that I don't respect Giro for his contributions to WP:Films and what he has done to organize it and tag articles, what I find frustrating is that at times he appears to believe his position entails moral coordination and telling other editors what they should say or do. Sure he might believe individual contributions to the project or edit count is not important, I have abolsutely no problem if he thinks this. What concerns me though is that I really don't think it is his place to prompt people like that and indicates that he has a degree of superiority in values. All I said in the current discussion was that I'm sorry nobody could see what the templates were intended for in that they were intended to connect to the years in film (which a see also section also can I agree). Perhaps using the word "appreciate" mislead him and wasn't a tactful word to use. However he jumped in again (as he has done in numerous places elsehwere on wikipedia and in some of the taskforce discussions) and said this isn't about me and being grateful for all my contributions etc etc. I absolutely said nothing at all about my contributions or "what I have done" nor did I explicitly state that I "owned" the templates or that a consensus or project discussion wasn't a good thing. Howver he has made it look like I was trying to justify something based on my overal contributions to the project which is totally not what I was saying. Rather it was me (and Lugnuts) who distributed the vast majority of these templates which we are talking about so "I" have some degree of responsibility for them whether they are public property or not. I fully agree it should be WP:Films having a responsibility for them rather than "myself" but as I was the one who distributed then the discussion does partly involve me whether they are WP:Films group material or not. ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 15:04, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

FamousLocations.com

Hi Erik, I run a website FamousLocations.com and we list 233,000 movies and 4,600,000 locations around the world. We list movie locations for the movies. We are a free site and offer great movie/film location info and are interested to get listed on the movie pages at Wikipedia for the pages. What do you think? Thanks David —Preceding unsigned comment added by FamousLocations-com (talkcontribs) 12:48, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Could you add certain ones to some of the pages?

How do I ask WT:FILM?

Thanks for your help.

Fountain image

I'm confused I don't understand your edit summary for removing Image:Fountain conquistador.jpg from The Fountain:

"The image does not have any explicit commentary in the article about Tomas being carried."

What are you saying exactly? Are you saying that the article itself must explicit mention the event that is depicted in the picture? Please respond on my talk. —Justin (koavf)TCM☯ 18:41, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks The article currently includes the following passage:
"[A]s Tomas approaches the pyramid atop which the tree grows, Mayan warriors attack the conquistadors. Tomas's last two men are killed fleeing the battle. Tomas is spared by the warriors, who force him to climb the pyramid..."
Isn't that explicit enough? How precisely does the text have to say what is occurring in the picture? Again, please respond on my talk at your convenience. —Justin (koavf)TCM☯ 18:56, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Plot and analysis As always, I appreciate your input, but I'm still lost here: how is this picture not descriptive? Since the plot includes a bunch of Mayans attacking him and the picture depicts Mayans attacking him, I don't see how this is inappropriate. I'm sorry if this is pedantic, but I don't see what I'm missing here. You mention how the article explicitly mentions flowers bursting from his body, so a picture of flowers bursting from his body is acceptable, but the article also mentions him being attacked by Mayans, so why is this one not acceptable? Would the article have to state that he was carried by them and only then could the picture be included? Under what circumstances could this picture be included in this article? —Justin (koavf)TCM☯ 19:17, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Better That helps; I'm still not sure I can apply a litmus test to a given image, but that explains your position better. Thanks. —Justin (koavf)TCM☯ 19:45, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Alternatives That's great; I'd hate for this article to be lacking pictures, especially considering how beautiful the film is. —Justin (koavf)TCM☯ 20:28, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Hello, I was wondering how to update the image that I see so frequently with Portal:Film. There is a consensus at WT:FILM to replace Image:Film reel.svg with Image:Video-x-generic.svg. Does this have to be done manually? —Erik (talkcontrib) - 14:56, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

  • [1] - I guess you figured it out, no worries. I usually watch Portal talk:Film, so you can ask stuff there in the future if you want. Cirt (talk) 22:28, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

No, unfortunately that would have to be done manually. Cirt (talk) 22:31, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

AfD

Hi Erik, could you give me a quick link to the AfD discussion? I was aware of that planned movie a while ago, but it seemed it came to naught – I couldn't find anything further about it, and nothing about Kingsley playing the role any more. Cheers, Jayen466 21:20, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Tx. Jayen466 00:17, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Can I get a second opinion on this article? It seems like jumping the gun to me if all we can say is that there will be a festival next year. But my reading of WP:CRYSTAL suggests that this sort of thing is OK. Cheers! PC78 (talk) 22:55, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

LOL

[2]. Told ya that would happen if consensus was to merge. No worries though, I respect your rationale and the decision of the community. Cirt (talk) 05:32, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Not really no. Please do keep me posted if something changes or if you hear more about the film. At this point I think I'd rather just take a break from thinking about that particular article and work on some more DYKs and WP:FPORTCs. Cirt (talk) 12:24, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

Hey Erik. Have you watched this movie?. I have watched this movie and it sucked and i was wondering how come the movie that got so bad rating is still in top 10?. I like the movie The Day After Tomorrow. I wish they will be a sequel or something. Iam sorry for late msg due to GTA 4 which was announced yesterday and i have forgotten my friends :P. I hope 2012 would be good. Btw will they be a Dark Knight sequel?. --SkyWalker (talk) 16:20, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

I need your opinion

Talk:X-Men (film)/GA2 Wildroot (talk) 17:05, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

My film premiere

It was splendid. Basically the seven-minute documentary is about my parents' struggle to raise a family of 10 kids (me being the youngest). It was somewhat of a comedy-drama. There were eight other short films there that were decent. Press showed up for a Q&A session afterwards. I'll have to look up local papers for that one.

That documentary took a lot of energy out of me. I shot over 3.5 hours of footage and I narrowed it down to seven minutes. Basically I go back to High School in a couple of weeks. I need to focus on getting my grades back up. At least I don't have to carry a job anymore, so I'll have more time watching films, making films (I now want to focus on claymation), getting decent grades. —Wildroot (talk) 17:43, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

WP:ENGVAR suggestion

There's a discussion at Talk:King Kong (2005 film) that suggests we should take in a film's story into account when deciding how to spell in the article. I think this works so wonderfully well for inherently-British or American stories. Could we work this into MOSFILM somehow? Alientraveller (talk) 21:50, 7 August 2008 (UTC)

RE: Buddy film

I'm inclined to think you're right about the category. Assigning genres to a film can be a subjective buisness, which is problematic when it comes to categorization. I know a lot of "Films about..." categories have been deleted in the past. PC78 (talk) 18:39, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

august 2008

what have done? i was just testing the the title films 2008 and the i moved it back to films and why are you changing the poster? all the time--Naz45228517 (talk) 02:13, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

They is no need to change anything. The poster you have added does not have fair rationale and the page move is unacceptable. Please don't do it again without discussing it in talk page. --SkyWalker (talk) 04:22, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Doomsday

Ah, I see you're working hard on it. How was it? Alientraveller (talk) 17:04, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Might have to check again, but it complies with ENGVAR. Alientraveller (talk) 17:23, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
I just watched this, and the unrated version was quite interesting. I didn't see it in theaters as I figured it to be a remake of "Escape from L.A./New York". However, after reading the production section, it looks like that was the point. Anyway, I'm not sure if you've already contemplated this or not, but should Category:Cannibal films be added to this article? I looked at the article concerning the film genre, and it looks like it only discusses films that take place in the jungle where cannibalism occurs, and where it is the main focus of the film. In this case do you think the human barbecue scene (I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Kidding...) and the several mentions of cannibalism is enough to warrant inclusion of the cat or not? --Nehrams2020 (talk) 22:12, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
That's what I figured after reading the Cannibal film article. Anyway, the image guideline draft looks good, and I left just a few suggestions. By the way, whenever you're not busy, I left a few more comments at the LMS A-class review when you get a chance. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 19:08, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah I miss the film image and was surprised one day when somebody just deleted it. Okay, I'll upload the pageant image later today (I'm about to leave for class and then have a screening for Hell Ride to go to). If possible could you copy/email me the article so I can read the whole thing? For some reason my university databases can't locate it and Google searches only let me read the opening paragraph. If I upload an image of them all sitting in a bus, I can also comment on the use of several different buses to properly film the the cast in the bus as described in the article. Anyway, I'll do that later tonight and let you know how it turns out. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 19:34, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
I've added the screenshot of the pageant, but I'm sure the caption could use some work. The only image I found with a proper angle showing all of them in the bus is this, which has the camera looking through the windshield. Do you think that qualifies? --Nehrams2020 (talk) 04:04, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I realized it had the watermark, I just linked to that image since it was the first one I could quickly find. It must be a production still since I saw it on about 10 sites after searching for screenshots. I can take a screenshot of the DVD, I've done it a few times before (by the way, I'll be removing the screenshots I've uploaded previously for decorative purposes unless I can find critical commentary for them). --Nehrams2020 (talk) 20:21, 5 August 2008 (UTC)

Whenever you get the chance, I uploaded the image, but I need the journal article to add more information to present critical commentary so the image isn't removed. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 06:40, 7 August 2008 (UTC)
I've been waiting next to my computer day and night constantly refreshing my watchlist looking for an orange bar to indicate you were back! Kidding aside, that sounds good. I've been busy with Tropic Thunder and now watching the Samuel L. Jackson page after vandals believe he is the next to pass away after Bernie Mac and Issac Hayes recently did. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 04:13, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

MOSFILM and cast section

I've been keeping an eye on the IndianCaverns edits when Clarityfiend brought it to my attention, and I noticed that he's been using the Tenebrae example in the guidelines to delete cast sections en masse and solely provide the information via parentheticals within the plot section. I haven't gone around to do a comprehensive survey, but I can't seem to remember any other film FAs which don't have a cast section, so perhaps we should look into formalizing this into the guidelines as a required section? Especially as we have a template parameter to request this, it seems a logical conclusion, and furthermore it's the kind of change which shouldn't entail any overwhelming amount of burdensome re-editing or addition of new sourced material. (Whether or not parenthetical credits should also appear within the plot summary is another matter.) Thoughts? Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 11:36, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Halloween (1978 film), Halloween II, Halloween III, and Jaws (film), are the first four that immediately come to mind. Gremlins and Gremlins 2 seem like clear cases to cut the cast section out, as it's literally just a list. I know that I plan on using the "Casting" subsection, over the "Cast and characters section" for the Friday the 13th articles I've been working on. I certainly don't use it in the television episode pages that I write.
In my opinion, most cast sections are just useless in-universe fodder, or, at least, breeding houses for that even when there is real world information present. Everyone is always trying to say "this character did this in the film", or "this character is so-n-so's bff". Stuff that can be easily seen in the plot section. I much prefer a "Casting" section to a list, as your real info can be found there, while IMDb can keep the comprehensive "List" of the cast.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 11:46, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
The MOS covers two of those styles already. Having a generic "list" is what IMDb is for, IMO. It provides no real value to the article, as the principle characters are already listed in the lead paragraphs. Having a generic list just opens the door to having anyone seen in the film listed as part of the "Cast". At least by requiring some real world information in the list you can weed out people that were obviously not important enough to get noted in the real world.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 16:05, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
I think we should suggest that subjective interpretations of overall critical review, or even POV wording (like "overwhelming" and "mostly") be stricken from articles. Personally, I prefer the basic "let the statistics speak for themselvse", like we have at Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. I would also be ok with saying "received positive review" if it's clearly one-sided, or negative if it's that way. But the POV choices of just how positive or negative, or when the film is sitting in the middle, should go.
We should probably expand the subsection on the LEAD to be a bit more detailed about what should be included, and how. Right now it only talks about two paragraphs of info, and it glosses over that as is.
I don't think we ever finished covering what "preceded by" and "followed by" actually constitutes. Maybe we should cover that here, since this is the MOS page.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 16:32, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I think you covered what needs to be addressed. Now we just have to do it over at the MOS page. Oh, what are your opinions on featured topics? I've had this going for a couple weeks, but it seems to be slow.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 19:28, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
I wonder if there is more stuff on him on British websites, and other European pages? Hmm. I've wanted to clean up The Descent and Dog Soldiers myself, just don't have the time. I'm trying to work on these Smallville pages and get them all done. It's sloooow. Another editor and I were trying to find reviews for season two's finale "Exodus", but there is none. It appears that season two won't have any individual episode articles from what I can tell. I'm really hoping that I can find reviews for "Reckoning" and "Justice", because those were two of the biggest episodes of the show (Jonathan Kent dies and the beginning of the Justice Leage).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 19:51, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah. This week is going to be hectic. I've got a lot to get ready for (walking down the graduation aisle on Saturday). Then I'll be out for the better part of next week (need a vacation). Once school starts I'll actually have more time (won't have to balance two full time jobs, like this summer). I'll have the week before school off (well, just regular work), so I can check out the commentaries for The Descent and Dog Soldiers. Any preference for which to work on first?  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 20:02, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

I would say remove the whole bit on spoilers altogether. As consensus may change (unlikely in this case, but still), leaving the page out-of-date until someone notices, I'd simply place one sentence at the end reading: "For guidance on the use of "spoiler" tags, please see WP:SPOILER." Or at the very most a direct instruction not to use spoiler tags, coupled with a link to the guideline. I think we also need to clarify the guidance on the length of the plot section. WIth the current wording, we might as well say, "400 to 700... oh, but sometimes 900... maybe more if you need 'em." The line on actors' names in parentheses needs tweaking too, to bring it more into line with the guidance in the "Cast and crew" section: I don't think there's a need for linkage if there's a cast list or casting section. And as for specific guidance on writing a plot section... that's a tough one. In the same way that good paraphrasing is a skill that is picked up over time, so is writing Wikipedia-specific plot sections that avoid any hint of interpretation and all the other stuff we rail against. It might be better to pare down the first paragraph of your work-in-progress rewrite in favour of something a little more direct, with a permalink to good example. Or at least paraphrase the quoted policy to be a little more succinct. Steve TC 20:05, 4 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks. I think the "Exodus" bit will be good for production info, but as far as splitting it off I think it won't help. That was a harsh review of "Justice" by that one writer...lol. I liked that episode, in all its cheesiness. So, The Descent it is. I'll see what I can find on the DVD when I get a chance. I believe that Marshall talks about the different endings he filmed, and what it all was supposed to mean (which really makes me wonder where the sequel will pick up, because we left her in the cave with no way out).  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 02:12, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
I've moved the reception section for The Descent into my sandbox. Whatever you find for the overseas reviews you can dump there, as usual.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 18:29, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Hope you enjoyed it. That graduation was killer, but it's all over now. I think I'll go into work tomorrow and tell them I'm taking the rest of the week off. I need a serious break from "life" right now. lol.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:26, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

I'm back!!

Hi Erik. I just got home from vacationing in beautiful southern Maine with my my family. It was great! How are things going with you? Did you watch the Opening Ceremonies for the Olympics in Beijing? I did, and was in complete awe. It was the best opening ceremony for the Olympics I've ever seen! I was so amazed as how all those performers were able to memorize every move. One mistake, and it could ruin the whole show. It was so cool! --♥Soccer5525♥Talk To Me! 19:16, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

There's something wrong with my talk page that I need you to fix. The background and border eventually end, when it's supposed to go down the whole page. Can you help? --♥Soccer5525♥Talk To Me! 12:22, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

I've been watching a lot of the games. My favorite sports are the diving, swimming, soccer (obviously!) and gymnastics. And speaking of gymnastics, have you noticed how young the Chinese gymnasts look? The can't be any younger than 16, but I swear that some of them could easily be 13! Scope of the project?

Does an article like Gurren Lagann fall within the scope of WP:FILM? I wasn't sure whether or not to remove the banner from the talk page. I removed Flash in other media from the project earlier on, but again, I'm not sure if this was correct or not. PC78 (talk) 16:02, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

No big deal, I'll go back to that one later; I'm currently sifting through the Future-Class articles, removing anything that shouldn't be there (which is how I found that article in the first place). BTW, I vaguely recall you having an essay or something regarding the unreliability of IMDb; you may find the AfD for Drake & Josh: In New York! to be of interest. Hope you enjoyed your weekend! Regards. PC78 (talk) 09:13, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, it's just notes at the moment. I'm going through the articles one by one, and so far I've just done A-J. It's a fruitful endeavour, though; I've already removed about 150 Future-Class assessments, and there's still a long way to go! PC78 (talk) 16:52, 11 August 2008 (UTC)

Jay and Seth

I found earlier mentions... found surprise and pleasure about the trailer when it first came out... and included some examples in my verylatest response at the AfD... but these are not as important as the effect the trailer has had since it went online. That is its notability... the reactions after it was posted... with folks calling for a film almost immediately. I defended my position at the AfD out of respect for your help in this... but its gonna die. And that ain't CRYSTAL. I do understand the naming conventions, but feel that in this specific instance, PC78's placing the article about the trailer over the deleted article about a future film may have been perceived as an affront. The AfD was lost before it began. But please accept my thanks for your insght and assistance. Schmidt (talk) 03:50, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

  • Well... we're supposed to be bold... yes? I did some last tweaking and sourcing to my sandbox article and moved the whole kit and kaboodle to the Seth and Jay article's page. I just left a note at the AfD asking the delete voters compare the 1st AfD with what originally went in to the 2nd Afd to what nows fills that page. With the change in direction for the article, it just ain't the same one that was being voted against. It may yet be deleted, but I know I did my best in the face of tough odds and I feel good about myself and my work there. If it gets deleted now, I'll ask for a review. Thanks for your sage advice and counsel. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 04:57, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Ye Olde Times

Hello! I created the page for Ye Olde Times because it is in fact going to be filmed. I work at the Michigan Renaissance Festival in Holly, Michigan, which is where the majority of the filming will take place. The production staff is being very quiet about everything, but we were informed that filming will begin around the same time our festival opens, which is this weekend (August 16 and 17 2008). I'm not entirely sure why more information about this film isn't available yet, and I know there has been a lot of speculation about it in the past, but I can assure you that it is really happening this time. I don't know how much they'll be able to tell you, but if you'd like proof you could always call or email the festival office. Their contact info can be found on their website. Also, the Michigan Film Office has listed the film title on their coming soon page. Bubblekitty13 (talk) 18:25, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Hello again! I have to ask - why is everyone convinced this movie isn't going to happen...? Regardless, I'll take your advice and userfy the article. How do I go about doing this? Thanks! :) Bubblekitty13 (talk) 18:59, 12 August 2008 (UTC)
Thank you so much! Will moving the article affect the deletion debate? (I'm pretty new to this - can you tell? LOL) :) Bubblekitty13 (talk) 19:16, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Tropic Thunder

Hey, I was wondering if you'd consider adding Tropic Thunder to your watchlist (if you're not watching it already) just for the next week or so. It seems we're on at different times so it would be better to cover the vandalism and unsourced additions. If you're too busy, don't worry about it (I'm sure you have way more articles in your watchlist than me). I responded to your note on the talk page and will be fixing the sources today. By the way, thanks for passing the A-class review, and if you still have access to that journal article, I'm still willing to incorporate it into the article. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 20:41, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I never figured my first FA attempt would be that article, but it was already in somewhat good shape and I've invested a lot of time in it. I plan to start the FAC after my class ends, so it'll be interesting to see how it goes. Although the film's craziness is entertaining, it is quite hectic for the vandalism (along with Ben Stiller's page). I definitely plan to bring it up to GA, but it will definitely be a few weeks after the film's release as I'm sure this article will be edited consistently for a while when it's in theaters. Are you planning to see it or any of the other films this weekend? --Nehrams2020 (talk) 20:57, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Let me do a further search and get back to you on Bastards. I have an morning appointment up in Tarzana to surgery on actor Jeff Conaway's computer (seriously, that Conaway. He calls me his computer guru (chuckle)). Then I have a long drive south to San Diego to be part of the upcoming 48-hour film festival. Though I'll be in SD all weekend, I will have computer access and should be able to look at Bastards more thoroughly between scenes. Schmidt (talk) 17:01, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

I've had a quick look at this article myself. At the end of the day, I think it's important to remember that WP:NFF does not trump WP:N. Sometimes a production will quite clearly be notable, and it won't matter one jot that filming hasn't started. This appears to be one such example. PC78 (talk) 17:56, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
Trust that I am well aware of that one. Will be able to devote more time to it when I return home. Schmidt (talk) 07:16, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Now THIS was a surprise... but I will continue to work and make you proud. Both you and PC78 had a lot to do with my friendly tenacity (chuckle) and I do not wish to see it at a 3rd AfD, as the current closure only bought me a little more time to bring it fully in line. While addressing concerns at Jay and Seth, I also wish to bring some substance to Into The Blue 2. So to help fill my plate, tell me how can I help at Inglorious Bastards? The article has quite a bit of depth to it and seems wonderfully sourced. With the recent attentions, it would be a shame to mege something so well done. Shall I hunt up more on production itself? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 07:38, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

As you stated in your discussion of the dark knight that we should feel free to point out an article that cites imdb ratings well I think you should take a look at List of films considered the worst as it does nothing but cite imdb ratings and lists. It's my favorite comedy of the year besides Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Pineapple Express. If you haven't already, consider downloading Rain of Madness for free from iTunes, it is a great addition to the film. No worries with the article, I think it is in pretty good shape (just nominated it at GAN today). It's good to see that you're interested in returning as coordinator. I think I may be working after this semester when I graduate, so this may be the last time I can serve as coordinator. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 02:07, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

Guru of Sex - update

Just in case you were interested, at this point in time it appears that the result of the "Merge" (LOL) decision from Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Guru of Sex is that there is zero mention of any content of that article in the merged article "Osho" whatsoever [3]. I know I brought this up before, but this time my point from the AfD is made clearer because all content from the article is completely gone. Again, no worries, I still respect your perspective from the AfD and it is possible at some point that there will be further developments in the film or coverage in additional sources, but it is interesting to note the end development from the AfD was actually not "merge", which is quite unfortunate, IMO. Cheers, Cirt (talk) 22:47, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

I'll shorten it again to what we had a few weeks ago. Much of the info (Ben Kingsley etc.) is simply wrong now, and if months pass without further development, it should go again altogether. An abortive film project is not that notable. Jayen466 23:09, 2 September 2008 (UTC)

I guess that's the problem with widescreen images. They look nice, but they don't translate well to general coding. I put the 300px back in, so they are "default" size. How's grad school and the assistantship going? I have two classes later on today myself. I don't care for the 3 hour format of these classes.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 13:48, 9 September 2008 (UTC)

The article The Dark Knight (film) (nominated by Gary King as a good article) has been placed on hold . It hasn't failed because it's basically a good article, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needed to be addressed. If these are fixed within seven days, the article will pass, otherwise it will fail. See Talk:The Dark Knight (film) for things needed to be addressed. -- I noticed you are one of the major contributors to the article so I thought I would give you a heads up. Image question

Hey, how's it going? Congrats on The Dark Knight. You guys will definitely need to take that to A-class review pretty soon (unless you guys are waiting on the DVD for some more info). I had a question concerning uploading an image for the Tropic Thunder article. There is a section discussing Tom Cruise's leaked appearance, and I was thinking of uploading the image to illustrate this in that section. A copy of the image can be seen here if you haven't seen it already. Would you think this to be acceptable to upload, and if so, which license would I use? I'm thinking the one found on Image:Zodiacfx.jpg, but am wondering if you know of a better one. I want to try and upload it before the article is reviewed at GAN, but please get back to me whenever you're not busy. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 18:52, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Ah, that list of links shouldn't take you more than a few minutes to incorporate into the article. I just wished my film article would have done even better at the box office (I think they should have released it earlier when the buzz was much higher). For the image, I think the paparazzi image would be a better representation as it was the image itself that set off the entire controversy over Cruise's role. In addition, I don't know of anywhere where I could find him fully dressed up as his character, except until maybe a screenshot from the DVD release. The only thing I can find concerning the author of the image is "INF staff photographer" according to this. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 23:43, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Fringe

Not in the least. I just happened to come across the FAC and decided to give some opinions on cleaning up the article. I don't care for Lost. lol.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 21:59, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

I've tried, but just cannot get into it. I feel like it confuses itself and the audience so much, that it ends up fitting its name quite well. Good luck on your presentation.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 22:47, 17 September 2008 (UTC)

Oh, I could waste a thousand words on my problems with the pilot. But to cut to the chase, the script was abominable. The pilot started out quite well, with that genuinely creepy scene aboard the plane, and some nice make-up effects, but everything after that was a heinous insult upon the viewer not seen since Akiva Goldsman's The Da Vinci Code script. Unlike others, it doesn't particularly bother me that Fringe is basically The X-Files; I enjoyed that and wouldn't mind watching it again. But where a show like The Middleman's reliance on overfamiliar concepts works in its favour, giving over only as much time as is strictly necessary to explain the setup so it can pack the remaining time with delicious gags and irrelevant, knowing asides ("that was given to me by my father, who died in mysterious and as-yet-unexplained circumstances!"), Fringe wastes the opportunity to play off audience expectation and pre-existing knowledge and instead opts to… explain things at least twice, just in case you didn't catch it the first time. Seriously, I wasn't worried about missing a line of exposition, because someone was more than likely to repeat the point straight afterwards, in even more condescending language:

"His skin, it's translucent."
"You mean, his skin is see-through?"
"Yes."

That isn't even the worst exchange in the show. The whole thing is filled with clichéd, ludicrous, expository language that only serves to show how contemptuous of the audience Orci and Kurtzman and Abrams really are. The characters are all broadly-drawn stereotypes, their interactions and conflicts laboriously explained to the viewer one step short turning to the camera and literally spelling it out ("He’s pissed at me because his best friend sexually assaulted three marine privates and I’m the one who put him away”), not one of them acts in a consistent manner—character traits are conveniently put aside whenever the plot, which makes no sense and is full of holes you could fly Oceanic 815 through, requires it. Like Lost at its worst, scenes come across as if they can't be bothered even writing them, so eager are they instead to skip to the next scene of ham-fisted mythopoeia. They think we won't notice this crap, and what's even more galling is that they're right; this'll end up a big, fat hit. Well, you did ask :) All the best, Steve TC 08:13, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Steve, you are preaching to the choir; Fringe is as derivative of X-Files (I described it to my girlfriend as follows: 'if X-Files was married to CSI:NY but had an affair with Poltergeist: The Legacy, the resulting baby would be a far more viable offspring than Fringe). John Noble, underused since his portrayal of Denethor, is the only reason to watch the show at all, since Joshua Jackson is just one of those people (like Paris Hilton and any given political conservative) who make you clench your teeth - you want to hit him in the face that much. - Arcayne (cast a spell) 15:28, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, a lot of my time is in class, but I've found that I'm still following the same old ways. I have a test tomorrow, which I still have not studied for, and I wrote my first paper for one of my classes just hours before I had to turn it in (the professor emailed me to tell me it was good..lol). I still don't have as much time for things as I wished though, as school does take up a lot of it. I did manage to finish those individual character articles for Smallville (Clark, Lex, Lana, Chloe, and Lionel), but I did most of that while I was at work, using WORD.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 12:47, 24 September 2008 (UTC)

Therefore as you will the highest vote count, or at least the highest amongst those available, I'd like to delegate any tasks involved with the conclusion of the election to you, along with Nehrams2020 (as he is the most senior coordinator available). Re: Assistance

Yeah, I've picked up after the summer, and so has Hollywood (how many articles say something was announced in September 2008 now?). I finally polished Star Trek with all these news articles I previously ignored and I am becoming more of a Trekker. Can't wait to get all these DVDs over winter like Hulk, Indy, WALL-E, Narnia, Batman, Iron Man, and Bond (I didn't buy Casino Royale on DVD last year as I smelt something wrong when the first edition didn't have a commentary on it) and to refresh on Trek and Terminator for 2009. By the way, are you happy to here Megatron is coming back for ROTF? Who was your favourite Autobot/Decepticon anyway? Alientraveller (talk) 21:59, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

I meant the film, because I know you weren't a big fan of it. Scenes with Anthony Anderson and Turturro really ruined some peoples' memory of wonderful scenes like Optimus' second monologue and Bumblebee's capture. Bay, like any filmmaker, wants his audience to believe in his world, but his humour is so adolescent. Works sometimes (Frenzy, any Steve Buscemi character) though. >:| Still, hopefully the only spilt liquid in the sequel will be the robotic equivalent of blood, not urine. Alientraveller (talk) 22:31, 29 September 2008 (UTC)

Error; please correct

Hi. I notice you stated at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Films#Linking to "year in film" in film-related articles: "John, I would caution against mass edits like this. It is not like overlinking is a grave threat to Wikipedia, so I think it is best to build consensus before embarking on a series of edits like these."

Could you explain what you mean by "mass edits" and "a series of edits like these" please? In the case of Marlene Dietrich, I removed two deprecated easter eggs from the article, and Ed then undid my removal and added 99 (I'm not kidding), which I reverted and then brought to talk. If you do take it upon yourself to criticize another user, it's always worth just checking that you have your facts right. I think adding 99 is more like a mass edit than removing two, don't you?

You may very well not regard overlinking as a grave threat to Wikipedia, and neither do I, but I do support the advice in Wikipedia:Only make links that are relevant to the context and intend to continue to remove superfluous links wherever I see them. I do not need a specific mandate to remove them; our principles dictate that instead those wishing to retain the links need to show consensus to addd them. Please consider striking out or otherwise redacting your error. Thanks. --John (talk) 13:35, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your generous redaction. I've amended my message to you above (italic section) to mention that I also reverted him. So far as I can see we have a civil discussion of a point of style. We really could do perhaps with some wider input there. I would only ask going forwards that you raise any concerns or questions with my editing on my talk page (or here, now that I have it watchlisted) and I can best answer you. I have a slight concern about Ed's seemingly pointy addition of many links where I had removed a very few, but I think this discussion will best progress if we can keep personalities out of it, which I will also try to do. AGF and all that. Anyway, take care and I'll see you on the project page. --John (talk) 04:38, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Your note

Hi, I replied to your note on my talk. delldot ∇. 20:46, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Congratulations

A belated congratulations for your election as a film coordinator. I certainly look forward to working with you again. FWiW, I recently had a series of publishing deadlines to meet so my attention was diverted of late, but I will be coming back "on line" little by little. Bzuk (talk) 00:55, 3 October 2008 (UTC).

Re: Changeling

Thanks for the Changeling back slap and advice. I'm looking at the reception section right now, as it happens. I wrote that before using the format I now prefer and it could certainly do with updating to reflect some of the post-Cannes reviews. It could do with a good copy-edit too. And the just-released production notes are solid gold in terms of encyclopedic content (any idea how I can cite them? At the moment, they're only available from here, and the flash interface makes it impossible to determine a direct download link). I haven't really picked an article to focus on after that. Obviously, State of Play is still to hit, but before then I might have a look at what I can do with Frost/Nixon, or spend some time updating WP:FUTFILM. Really, your comment about bringing Fight Club "up to par" made me smile. Barring whatever minor manual of style nitpicks would need addressing, the article would likely sail through a FAC. Steve TC 07:38, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Flashgot is your friend :) It isolates the media in a flash presentation and provides a direct file link in Firefox's download manager that can then be copy-pasted elsewhere. Steve TC 13:51, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Sherlock Holmes

Downey looks like Chaplin again! I know Downey was going to make him more bohemian and it'll grow on me for sure, but I would also like it if their Holmes is a master of disguise. Yeah, I trust Ritchie with his first family film, I suppose you're disappointed Neil Marshall was too busy to make his first franchise? Alientraveller (talk) 20:58, 10 October 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Watchmen poster.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Watchmen poster.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:14, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Taken care of. Alientraveller (talk) 13:34, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Belated election congrats!

It is a great pleasure to see you returning as a coordinator, and I look forward to working with you again! I've presented another opening slate of items, and your comments are requested. (Additionally, if you haven't already, you must add the coordinator talk page to your watchlist.) Congrats and speak soon, Girolamo Savonarola (talk) 05:16, 12 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi there. I declined the speedy, because in my view the recreation was not "substantially identical to the deleted version", as required by G4. Yeah, it covers the same topic, but the actual wording and content are quite different; they're pretty obviously both independent, good-faith attempts to create the article. Therefore, I interpret the G4 not to be valid in this circumstance.

That said, I don't disagree with the rest of your reasoning and I won't be removing the prod tag. Lankiveil (speak to me) 11:07, 13 October 2008 (UTC).

G.I. Joe advice

As mentioned in all the script reviews of the film taken down by Paramount, Cobra Commander starts out as a friend of Duke, an idea which goes far back to drafts of the project in 2005. As it was taken down, this is unverifiable, but, in a Variety article published before Levitt was announced as the evil overlord, it states "Gordon-Levitt will play Duke Hauser's best friend. He is the science officer assigned to the Special Forces unit." Shall we mention this or let our verifiability facade write it off as outdated? Alientraveller (talk) 17:40, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

It's cited right now for the film being set a decade into the future. Oh, and I'm quite sure it won't be on the cutting room floor, but still, I get your point. Alientraveller (talk) 17:58, 13 October 2008 (UTC)

Star Wars / E.T.

I know it's in print from the time the film came out, but I don't feel like digging through my archives at the moment, and the only online references I can find are blogs. It's really not that important, but the attitude of Ward-something has raised my hackles a bit. Meanwhile, he's not arguing that it's trivial, because if he did, that might be a different story. I might argue that it's not trivial, at least not if the subject is George Lucas, because George is in the habit of putting these little easter eggs or cross-references in many of his films - kind of his own way of being Alfred Hitchcock. Instead of putting his own person in the films, he puts in references to other of his films. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 04:12, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Bless you, sir. Is that from a book, then? Do you have the specific page number? Because I'm sure that will be the next question. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 04:33, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
Thank you so much. That's a great writeup, with lots of interesting bits. I did not know the waterfalls were actually "salt falls". It looked great on-screen, which was the point. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 04:42, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
The other challenge would be to find a reliable source that points out that "Elliott" begins with "E" and ends with "T". Not that that isn't already obvious, but that it's not necessarily a coincidence. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 04:43, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
I suspect the above would be difficult to find. Just figuring out how to word it to find something in Google would be tough. It's also just someone's opinion, whereas the E.T.-in-Star-Wars cameo is visible on-screen. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 04:53, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
Awesome! Now I owe you twice. As long as Ward-whatever will allow these as sources. I was not aware of Elliott's last name being Taylor. But that works. Thank you! Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 04:58, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Removal of prod from The Real RocknRolla

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from The Real RocknRolla, which you proposed for deletion, because its deletion has previously been contested or viewed as controversial. Proposed deletion is not for controversial deletions. For this reason, it is best not to propose deletion of articles that have previously been de-{{prod}}ed, even by the article creator, or which have previously been listed on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article, but feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks!

Just a quick bit of additional info: this article was already proposed for deletion in the past, and that tag was removed (Sept. 27th of 2008 was when it was first placed). So it needs to go to AfD instead. raven1977 (talk) 21:20, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
And having found no evidence that the film has even commenced principle photography, I've gone ahead and sent it to Articles for Deletion: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Real RocknRolla. raven1977 (talk) 21:50, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

The article is up for A-class reviews. Thanks. Wildroot (talk) 02:58, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Well done

I realize it's a bit late, but well done on Doomsday (film). If only as much effort was put into a film that actually deserves such a great page. ;) Btw, how is the progress on the latter article going? Corn.u.co.pia / Disc.us.sion 11:47, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Hmm, well The Descent is looking okay at the moment, and I am working on some other stuff, so I don't think I'll be able to do much. But thanks for the comment, and I can't wait for the sequel! I hope it will be just as great. Corn.u.co.pia / Disc.us.sion 04:26, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Can you look at my document, and advise?

Could you look at this and advise if I am preparing it correctly, as I have never done such before. Thank you Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 17:26, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Your feedback is always appreciated. I wonder... does being the only American in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone count for anything? It was that film where I was used as the model for The Mountain Troll that essentially launched me into film. Thanks Harry! (Chuckle) No matter... I have requested the speedy of that DRV inquiry userspace. I have learned a lot. My thanks to all. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 17:36, 18 October 2008 (UTC)

RfA

It seems that the last time you queried about this your answer was no, has that changed though? I can't say that we have interacted that much but I think you would make a great administrator and I would by happy to nominate you if you wanted. Icewedge (talk) 07:42, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

IMdb

Erik, where is that list we compiled of all of the film people talking about how IMDb sucks, and gets stuff wrong? Termer is asking us to prove that people are saying it is a worthless source.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 01:35, 20 October 2008 (UTC)

Found it.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 01:38, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
More or less excited. I understand your concern. I get that way when someone makes contradictory arguments in a debate and then stands by them like they were solid gold. I'll try and calm it down a bit. :D  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 02:26, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Sorry, I tried. Someone is just exhausting my nerves. Am I the only one getting the impression that someone is a bit thick? On a lighter note, how are your classes going?  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 23:52, 20 October 2008 (UTC)
Trying to make sure I go to all of mine. I have a couple where attendance isn't crucial, but I still try to go. A lot of the information I learn is slightly redundant to what I learned in undergrade, but sometimes I find useful things that I didn't know before. My main problem is that I have one class where role-playing is an everyday thing, and I generally don't have the stomach to pretend that often. It gets old, real fast. Though I like the professor, I just don't enjoy the method. I won't have to worry about job hunting for at least another six months (yay for me). Did you have a favorite out of those your going to interview for?  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 04:22, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
Fortunately, (or unfortunately depending on how you look at it), I'll also be in the D.C. area. Unless things change, my g/f already has a job with a government contractor located in the D.C./Arlington area (SAIC). Once she's done with her Masters, which will be the semester before I am done with mine, she'll most likely be heading up north to find a place for us to live (as I'll be following her when I graduate). I say, "unless things change", because she hasn't been having a good experience with them lately and she may try and find a better job - which means I may not end up "back home" (since I'm from Virginia originally). I told her, I'll follow her first but I won't be moving around. I need 2 years, after I get my Masters, are supervision under and LCSW so I can get my license. I cannot just abandon my clients after a couple of years, and then have to rebuild any contacts I would have made so that I could have my own practice. It takes years of working in a clinic, or someone else's practice, to build credibility and make contacts so that your private practice doesn't sink like a rock in its first year. I don't really care where I actually end up, I just know that if I want to make a decent living it will have to be in a decent sized city (though, I have no intention of actually living in a city). But that's many months away, and right now I'm more worried about all those papers I have to write in the coming weeks. :( Hopefully, you'll get the job that you want, and it'll turn out to be the job that you really want to have for the rest of your career (i.e. you get the job you want, but it turns out that it sucks). Good luck on all those interviews.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 05:41, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Well, the catch is that I can do my job anywhere, but I cannot do my job if I have to move often. If I'm on the move frequently I might as well not even have a case load of clients, because moving too frequently can put a damper building that clinician/patient relationship. But, I'll deal with that road when I get to it.

That would be awesome to have a Wiki meetup. It would be a nice change of pace to discuss Wiki without getting those weird stares and confused looks from someone that cannot understand why I edit a place that is considered the Devil in acadamia. lol.  BIGNOLE  (Contact me) 05:16, 22 October 2008 (UTC)

Hey.. it was my first time prodding. I even notified an anonymous IP. I figured better safe than sorry... but I understand what you say. Frankly, no one added very substantialy to the article (chuckle). But they are notifed. Thanks for the 2nd. With what I was unable to source, should I have speedied it instead? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 04:39, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Okie dokie. I went through the darn thing and relized the movies did not exist, and were not even a rumour. Then I did a search for the name and found only the older citizen. Since the assertion was being an actor, but had never acted in these future films, I figured WP:Crystal. Failing those assertions made him fail WP:PEOPLE and WP:N. And with the article full of non-truths, it failed WP:BLP. Was it right to use the shotgun, or should I have used just one bullet? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 04:51, 21 October 2008 (UTC)
And covering myself... I did find an American actor "Michael J Prescott Hewes Rudd" at NYTimes, and when I searched his one listed film "It Nearly Wasn't Christmas", I found an actor named "Michael Ruud" (2 u's, one D), who played a character named "J Prescott Hewes". I figure it was a NYTimes typo. Of course, even looking at Michael Ruud, we still see an actor far too old to be the one in our article. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 05:04, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

You may wish to pick up the article again, as I have added cast, sources, and a few more links. The only "delete" so far is per WP:Crystal, and since filming has finished, that does not apply. It is weak however, per WP:NFF, so save what I've given perhaps? Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 06:54, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

I found contact informations for El Camino Films. Would wrinting them to simply ask if they have a release date yet be considered original research? They may be able to either direct me to a site that has such information, or inform me that it is not yet been decided. That could either confirm that the article might stay (with the new source added) or indicate that it might otherwise be deleted until a release is announcd. Schmidt, MICHAEL Q. 19:52, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Kagemusha

Hello Erik. I apologize because I was breaking one of the cardinal rules here at wikiP as I was editing just before falling asleep last night. Add to that the fact that I had a day that had left me cranky. I am one of those who wishes that more pics could stay with an article but I also understand why they can't. I simply reacted poorly. You have taken it with such grace that I now feel doubly a chucklehead. I will take a look at your suggestions when I have a little more time and see if there is something we can do to improve the article. I have come to feel that Kurosawa is the best film director that I know. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde "seeing an AK film for the first time is the beginning of a lifelong romance". Apologies again and cheers and happy editing to you. MarnetteD | Talk 16:00, 21 October 2008 (UTC)

Watchmen

The deal with the themes section is that Ntnon pasted it from the main article even though I had purposefully left it out (because it is so crap). There'll be excessive trimming, to be sure. I was actually going to ask you about those journals. Please send them. Thanks. WesleyDodds (talk) 22:41, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Click the "E-mail this user" link on the left and it'll go where it needs to. WesleyDodds (talk) 02:28, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Currently downloading the file. Thanks. I believe I've cut all the bad sources out of the temp page; if you ca, feel free to skim through and remove any other ones you think are not suitable. Also, thoughts on the plot summary? I think we've pretty much hammered that out. The Background section is more or less there content-wise; I just need to clean it up. WesleyDodds (talk) 23:31, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Good news: one of the sources listed in the essays you sent me, Richard Reynolds' Super Heroes: A Modern Mythology, was available at my library; I've had it checked out for a week. It's basically a long scholarly essay that examines superheroes and seminal works of the genre. It devotes an entire chapter to Watchmen. WesleyDodds (talk) 23:46, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Don't worry, I plan to revise the lead. I always leave the lead for last, since then I would have the entire article worked out to draw from. WesleyDodds (talk) 23:47, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Could I ask for the journal articles to be e-mailed to me, too, please..? (Wiki@NTNON.zzn.com) Thanks. ntnon (talk) 18:48, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks, Erik. :o) ntnon (talk) 00:18, 9 October 2008 (UTC)

What is up with Statostatostato (talk · contribs)? Could you help him/her out? I don't what to do with an unresponsive editor who adds the the longest plot summary of all time and insists on adding a runtime for a film not completed? Alientraveller (talk) 20:14, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for the barnstar. I'm close to completion now, although still need to fix some essential elements. Give it a run-through if you wish. WesleyDodds (talk) 07:02, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

I've posted my revision in the main article space. Please share your thoughts at the FAR page. WesleyDodds (talk) 01:20, 19 October 2008 (UTC)

Do you have anything to add to the FAR? It's still open, so I think Marskell is waiting to see if there are any outstanding concerns. WesleyDodds (talk) 04:38, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
