Tinchy Stryder: In My System[edit]

As the single is nearing its release, I was informed that you had filed for the deletion of the article. Rather than merely create a new one, I was wondering if you wouldn't mind undoing the erasion, so that further information of the article be added.

Final Deal[edit]

Hi there I have come to apologise for everything I have done in the past, I now realise that if I keep creating accounts I will just keep getting blocked and I promise not create another account ever again. I would love to work with you in the future, I will take six months off from Wikipedia to think about everything I have done and come back on the 5th February 2011 and try to sort everything out so that I don't create any more accounts and that I can get my original account back, stay on Wikipedia and listen to any of your advice in the future. Best Regards 80.1.183.44 (talk) 14:18, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am taking this deal seriously and will not go behind your back and create another account. 80.1.183.44 (talk) 14:20, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

No deal, at least not from me. You're not supposed to be editing at all [1], yet you've spent the last several days editing anonymously [2]. I've reverted these edits and blocked. - eo (talk) 14:25, 5 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I see you've converted To Kingdom Come into a disambig. Per WP:FIXDABLINKS, could you clean up these links that now point to a disambig? Thanks, --JaGatalk 12:46, 6 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

heyaa, just wondered if you could do me a favour? Would you mind looking up annie lennox's chart history on the hot 100 on billboard.biz and/or the charts book please? allmusic and billboards archive agree on positions of some songs, but another editor pointed out that there was some info missing from both, and there are even articles on billboards site which have the missing positions. have found one but would take hours to hunt through hundreds of billboard articles. any help would be awesome! thanks :) Mister sparky (talk) 19:42, 9 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Personal invitation to discussion: Cert columns headings & links[edit]

Hello, Eric. In trying to determine consensus for (or against) a change of headings and links in music-related articles, I've managed to draw comments from exactly two other editors. I'd feel better about moving ahead (or not moving ahead) with the change if I knew how much (or little) support there is for it among more of the music-focused editors.

It's a teeny matter (and I thought the discussions would be simple, but this is ridiculous), but I'd appreciate it if you would weigh in at the Certifications column heading links discussion at MOS:DISCOG. (There's a similar one, sort of, over at WT:Record charts, but I'll be happy if I can just generate some activity at MOS:DISCOG). Thanks, — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 13:55, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Considering a topic ban[edit]

This makes me consider issuing a topic ban against Petergriffin9901 that he cannot modify any sales figures or certifications. I'm tempted to do the same thing to Max24, just because I am tired of this constant useless arguing. Thoughts?—Kww(talk) 01:25, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to suggest something. Honestly, my issues have only been with book sources, and even though I stand by it being a good-faith mistake, I know I am responsible for my edits. May I suggest, since this problem revolves around a book source, that I have to run by any book I use in the future to you, if I want to use them for any sales or certification on any page. That way whenever I change a source (book source) for sales or certifications, Ill run it by you to take a look. I'm honest Kevin, but I understand we must stand by our mistkaes, so this seems to me the best and most fair thing to in light of recent events. As for Max, I don't know what, but he needs to learn to take things up with me or grow up.--PeterGriffinTalk 01:30, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Yikes. It seems that Peter has good intentions here, and in general, but I don't think it was a wise idea to use a non-internet book source when Peter is not even in possession of the book. Definitely some carelessness has occurred here, obviously Max's frustration is not helping the situation. What I do see, however, is that more than one person has a problem with Peter's edits, so I would suggest (to Peter) that you never use a book as a source unless you 1) own a copy or 2) know exactly where the info is located (e.g. page numbers) as well as any addition info that is available (e.g. ISBN number). Kww, you are obviously much more involved with this than I, and with your ongoing mentoring of Peter I will leave the final decision up to you. I do not oppose Peter's suggestion that all book sources he wants to use be approved by you. However, if you feel a topic ban is warranted then I would not oppose that either, as it was also suggested by another user (Frcm1988). I have not looked through Max's edits, I don't know if the Peter/Max arguments are limited to Mariah Carey certifications or if it extends further. If this situation cannot be resolved, then definitely a topic ban is the last resort — for both editors. - eo (talk) 12:21, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Eric, I would like to explain a bit to you. I mean honestly, this topic ban would be unfair, unjust and totally unnecessary. My issue was placing a few sales figures from a book (which I did see in the book and offered to take photos of it). Also, the other issue Max brought up was a few different and inconsistent certifications on about 2 album pages from 4 months ago (May). Now for that I really can't answer, I don't remember, but I ask you to weigh out all the good I have done to Mariah Carey articles since I have been here (over 4000 Good faith edits) I have re-done 2 articles (of Carey) to about GA standard, and was in a project to to it to all of her pages. Additionally I work well with (most) editors and have been here for a year and a half with no problems (only relating to Max24). Understand that since I began here, Max24 has had a personal vendetta against me (other editors will tell you) I mean its not that difficult to find little certain 4 month old edits, and take them out of context and use them against me. Everyone screws up, and I feel I'm being judged in an unfair and overwhelming way, considering there are established editors that vandalize every day, and just get some lame warning slapped on their talk page. Do you think its fair that I edit over 5000 edits, stay for over a year and a half and work hard, and because of one incident get considered for topic ban? Ill be honest, if I get banned from "Mariah Carey" articles, you might as well block me, because that is the reason I am on Wikipedia. I mean I think its so unfiar, I watch established users vandalize daily, and do any of them get blocked or banned? Also, understand that because a few editors don't like me, everytime there is a mistake, instead of taking it up with me (I am reasonable, you can see that on my talk and work well) they invite 13 editors to a large scale article talk discussion, bringing up "evidence" that I deserve to be banned. Its all BS, and I honestly was really surprised at these considerations over an honest and hard working Wikipedian.--PeterGriffinTalk 15:49, 24 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Blockage[edit]

Why am I being warned for editing pages that I made myself. The Count & Sinden's "After Dark" page was only made a few hours ago by myself, so why I'm being moaned at for making a slight error by having "Chart Performance" rather than "Chart performance" is silly. It is a similar case with Chase & Status's "Let You Go" article, which I edited because of an error in the release date, which I'm sure I had put in the first place.

I would appreciate if you could tell me what I am doing wrong exactly so as to avoid further blockings on my account.

The current IP address that restored it (67.188.253.187) was apparently blocked by you some months ago for doing the same thing. could you also look at The Saturdays discography, i thought LittleGee was blocked for disruption... but keeps adding the same ref over and over again to various saturdays articles to verify scottish positions, but the ref only verifies 1 album and also adding sales from a very unreliable forum. removing stuff like this and then getting told i'm edit warring and vandalising is getting really taxing... Featured billing vs. co-billing[edit]

Hey! I wanted to ask you a question. You seem to be well familiar with, and know about featured billing vs. co-billing, which is great. If a single has co-billed artists, the entry should appear under the regular singles [as lead artist] section of the respective discography, and not the featured singles section, correct? And same goes for the navbox? The reason I ask is a couple of weeks ago, I got some of my edits reverted for the song "Eenie Meenie" by Sean Kingston and Justin Bieber. Editors have told me that there can only be one main artist, and the other(s) are featured artists, but I countered with the songs "Swagga Like Us" (T.I. & Jay-Z ft. Kanye West & Lil Wayne), "Tell Him" (Barbra Streisand & Celine Dion), and "The Boy Is Mine" (Brandy & Monica), among many, many others. Billboard credits "Eenie Meenie" as a feature, as does The Official Charts Company and the Irish Recorded Music Association, and the single cover has no mentions of featured artists. But when I edited the Justin Bieber discography page to have "Eenie Meenie" placed under the Singles section and not the Featured singles one, my edits got reverted (twice, I believe). Thoughts would be much appreciated! Yvesnimmo (talk) 00:37, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I've never heard the rule "there can only be one lead artist", but that's kind of ridiculous. People do duets all the time, your thought process seems fine to me (i.e. Streisand and Dion, Streisand and Neil Diamond, Streisand and Donna Summer, Brandy/Monica, McCartney/MJackson, MCarey/BoyzIIMen, etc., etc., etc.) My rule of thumb is to go with how things are listed in most major markets' official charts - usually the artist credits there are determined by artist management and record labels... I know that is how it is with Billboard in the U.S., for example. If two artists have co-billing, then I think that the title should be listed in both artists' main singles section in both discographies - no need to put it in "featured" for just one of them. - eo (talk) 12:19, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Agree. Since Billboard, The Official Charts Company, and the IRMA all list it as co-billing, I think it should be a main single for both artists' discographies. People have been reverting my edits, though. *sigh* Yvesnimmo (talk) 19:40, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry[edit]

Cheryl Cole discography[edit]

I understand that minor edits like the one I did on the Cheryl Cole discography can be considered disruptive, but I honestly only adjusted the rowspan information so as to ensure the certifications fit on a single line each and from that improve the appearance of the page. Apologies if this was deemed disruptive, but I did it in the interest of the users of Wikipedia.SLlewellyn (talk) 18:08, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It's disruptive because other editors have asked you to stop doing it multiple times on your Talk Page. - eo (talk) 17:49, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
(talk page stalker) ...beyond which, it does not "ensure the certifications fit on a single line". It also doesn't "improve the appearance of the page", but goes against WP:DISCOGSTYLE. Which is surely part of the reasoning behind the requests for you to stop. Which you've ignored. Which is disruptive. Which brings us back to the beginning. — JohnFromPinckney (talk) 18:20, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Of course it doesn't. No more warnings on this, seriously, I will have no problem blocking this user again. - eo (talk) 18:24, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: White Blank Page[edit]

Hello Ericorbit. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of White Blank Page, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Plausible redirect - is a M&S song I believe. Thank you. Nancy talk 18:41, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't nominate it. The speedy deletion was removed by another user and I put it back. - eo (talk) 18:44, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
