Welcome[edit]

Hello, Elenigiagos and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students.

Go through our online training for students.

If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Chris Troutman (talk) 17:10, 19 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Marcus Kowal, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.sisuguard.com/marcus-kowal-mma/.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. (If you own the copyright to the previously published content and wish to donate it, see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the procedure.) If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Marcus Kowal requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.sisuguard.com/marcus-kowal-mma/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of Oil Refineries of America[edit]

Hello Elenigiagos,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Oil Refineries of America for deletion, because it appears to duplicate an existing Wikipedia article, [[{{{article}}}]].

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Swpbtalk 20:46, 10 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Oil Refineries of America[edit]

First of all, don't ever remove speedy deletion templates from pages you created. That's a quick way to get yourself blocked.

Secondly, yes, you should add any useful content to the existing article, rather than creating a new page - see WP:CFORK. But you should also be careful not to include any statements that can't be backed up by reliable sources, with in-text citations. The page you created does not resemble an encyclopedia article - it's unfocused, full of statements only tangentially related to the supposed topic, and which are too broad to be supportable, even if there were citations in the text. To editor Elenigiagos: I am the campus ambassador for your course. This is not the type of discussion I want to see from you. Since you are new and not familiar with how Wikipedia works, please take the tutorial (I provided a link when I welcomed you) and ask me if you have questions. While I want you to contribute to Wikipedia I cannot have you causing problems for other Wikipedians. I'd also suggest you talk to Dr. Higbie again about your choice of subject. Hello, I removed the template before knowing I shouldn't do that, won't happen again. Thank you for the feedback on my topic. I will add to the Oil Refinery page now that I am aware there is an article already established here on Wikipedia. Elenigiagos (talk) 19:58, 12 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
