Call for help!

Dear Wikimedian,

We have an event at National Museum from 2nd to 5th January, extendable to 8th January. This is a GLAM project at the National Museum. While we have many museologists and wikimedia aspirants we are short of experienced editors who can help participants. Hi, Ekabhishek! Thank you so much for your greeting on my page. Hope to have a great time editing on Wikipedia. I have a question: it looks like a picture I just uploaded (non-free license from a news article online) was marked for deletion, with the claim that it doesn't meet Wikipedia criteria for using a non-free picture. Is this true? I read all 10 criteria very carefully, and it seems like my picture fits them fine. Thanks!

  • Hi, DvtheDv! For starters, please remember to sign your messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~). Also create a new section. To avoid confusion. You are right about WP:NFCCP, however the image fails, WP:NFC#UUI, point 1, as the person is still alive thus a free-equivalent can be found. Hi, Gryffindor, one way could be asking one of the people, who participated in wiki drive last year, to have image for List of Monuments of National Importance in Delhi. Last time, I went to Delhi, I remembered your bunch of articles, while passing through the area. Most are shrouded by trees, so clear view is tough. The 21-salute states, and biggies, like Patiala, Hyderabad, Borada, Bikaner, Jaipur, who have their residences in the India Gate circle, are in a high security area...though clickable. Since I stopped at Rabindra Bhawan, I did click the Doordarshan building at former Mandi House plot, will upload it. --Ekabhishektalk 02:50, 9 January 2014 (UTC)
Thank you Ekabhishek, I just saw it. I have requested the two coordinators. Do you know where maybe historic images could be obtained if the structure does not exist anymore, such as Mandi House?     • I think he's asking for permission to use the image from WP for an outside purpose, not to advertise in WP. It is of course permitted to use WP material for any purpose, even advertising. Unfortunately, the link you have mentioned is a personal website, hence not a Wikipedia:Reliable sources in wikipedia, look for third party or independent sources. Also try Wikipedia:Teahouse for new users, this will help you learn the workings...take your time...wikipedia has many young users, 10 year olds, and 12 years old administrators. See here Young wikipedians. You may want to read WP:COI as well. You can add {{WP Biography|living=yes}} to the article talkpage, this will add it to biography wiki. Google is where most users go for their research, keep searching, see if you find any specific link which conforms to wikipedia third party or independent sources criterion. Those awards were removed as there was no third party reference for them, as without them the article appears as an advertisement and/or original research, which is not allowed. It's come and gone (already been on the main page). Didn't notice your response until just now. I don't see how it would have been canvassing. There wasn't controversy - neither at outset nor later.   • Hi, went through the articles, they seem like operating manuals of the device, highly technical, see WP:NOTMANUAL. Further I couldn't find any such work across wiki. Though, there were some mention in AFD deletion records. Considering the effort you have made, I would say, before creating such articles, try adding the text in the current article in two neat paragraphs. That would do the job. New articles make sense when you are adding major bulk of information which would make the main article heavy. Sir, I had created the Page 2014 Kashmir Floods last night because of ongoing disaster in Jammu and Kashmir. My page is being completely erased now and same article is being created 2014 Kashmir floods by some other user. The information is being transferred from former to later. Sir I want to become Autopatrolled someday on wikipedia. This was my 21st article but wikichecker does not show it that this is my creation. Sir, is it alright to do this thing on wikipedia?? Since the title of the second article is correct, 'f' lowercase in floods, the move is right as per WP:MOS. Next time be more careful. For now, divert your efforts toward building the other article, the issue is far more important presently than letting your article go. Actually, nobody owns an article on wikipedia, see WP:OWN, so you can adopt any article and start building it. As for autopatrolled, read WP:AUTOPAT, it also has link for request page for being auto patrolled. Just keep up with quality work, and it will happen automatically. One more thing always add a : (colon) when linking an article in a talk page, as I have done above. Also use --~~~~ for signing a comment, as it would automatically create a timestamp as u see here with my signature ->. --Ekabhishektalk 04:04, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Hi sir. l cannot change some articles in wikipedia. For example, when i want to revert a vandalism i cannot do it because of there are many other changes after this edit. lt says "it might be undone. Hi, you are right some articles are protected (excessive Vandalism or controversial), read WP:TPP, thus all editors cannot make changes, though they can always leave a request on the talk page or request edit, see WP:ERQ. As for reverting, if they are more than one edit (read WP:RV), yes you cannot undo. You will have edit the article, make the changes you want yourself and leave a note in the edit summary. --Ekabhishektalk 06:57, 8 September 2014 (UTC)

Another easy way: Restore a past version of the page. To do this:
