I don't know who you are and you certainly don't know me. I am a culinary expert with a masters degree, specializing in medieval food from Africa and Middle East. Your notion of political conviction is laughable. Please refrain from what obviously seems like political agenda from your side Eerieye (talk) 20:08, 14 January 2021 (UTC)

I don't need to know you. I only need to see your edits. Unexplained changes, that in at least two cases went against sources, are not how to make your point on this community project. The fact that you are knowledgeable in the field of cuisine one the one hand surely will help you make valuable contributions to relevant articles, on the other hand will make it all the harder for you not to fall into the pitfalls of beginning editors. Sourcing is everything here, your personal convictions are nothing. That would be the short and unpleasant version of it. I refer you to the rules in the welcoming template in the section above.

well, I said it "seems like it". In any case, take for example the Mansaf article. The second source in that article says "What could rightly be called the national dish of Jordan-the mansaf-which it shares with Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Syria". You removed Iraq, added Palestine, let's not mention changing the alphabetical order of the countries which is not a problem but remains unexplained and puzzling. Why would you do all that? I did not remove Iraq, if I did it was en error as I removed Israel because of the dietary restrictions (kosher), not making it a part of Israeli cuisine. Eerieye (talk) 13:32, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Please read MOS:AMP in Wikipedia's style manual and use the word "and" instead of this symbol. It is unencyclopedically casual, and we have plenty of room here to spell out a three-letter word. Hello. I have no interest in the conflict per se. I am a culinary expert who is editing food pages. In two pages I added palestine as a nation who has connection to the food and one guy is accusing me of political bias and conviction. I am new to wiki editing and I think this is insane how one is treated here Eerieye (talk) 06:50, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

The prohibition pertains to the WP:ARBPIA topic area only. One's credentials are of no consequence to the WP:500-30 tenure that is otherwise required for that. El_C 12:28, 15 January 2021 (UTC)

Experts

Hi Eerieye, and welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed you said you were an expert in the history of Middle Eastern cuisine, that's great! It's an area I'm interested in, though I'm not an expert myself. I hope you'll be able to fill in some missing gaps in Wikipedia. You may want to look at Wikipedia:Expert editors, which explains that, although we very much welcome experts, you need to cite your sources for any information that might possibly be questioned - which is almost everything. It's one of the three core policies of Wikipedia. In general, it's not allowed to add or change information based on your own knowledge or training. But presumably you have a good knowledge of books, journals, etc., that can be cited, so that's helpful.

Until you've reached 500 edits, you won't be allowed to make any changes that might appear to be related to the Arab-Israeli conflict, even if you don't think they are. That doesn't mean you're not allowed to edit Middle Eastern food articles, but you should stay away from removing mentions of Israel and so on, until then. I also noticed a comment that contains: Last editing user is from israel which makes his editing biased. [1] You'll need to avoid that sort of thing; an atmosphere of civility is highly valued on Wikipedia.

One other thing that's very important is not to edit-war. If you see that someone disagrees with your edit by undoing it, stop editing and go to the talk page of the article to discuss it. All editing on Wikipedia requires consensus. When using a talk page, you should indent your replies.

It can be difficult at first to adjust to the Wikipedia community, for one thing there are a large number of policies and guidelines to learn and follow. If you receive criticism, or your edits are undone, try not to take it too personally... --IamNotU (talk) 18:37, 16 January 2021 (UTC)
