Thanks for your addition to the article. I'm afraid this source was misleading. All the other sources say Hugo was not even a hurricane when it hit Charlotte. Few of the sources even say there were gusts over 100. I think this person must have read Wikipedia, which was edited by someone who inserted incorrect information, probably someone who had serious damage from the storm.

I went in search of the correct information once I had time, and hopefully what's there now is right.
