I have to bail

I hate to do this, but I feel I have to bail out on adopting you. I'm still swamped at work, with no let up in sight, and a couple of good friends in real life are going through crises and need me around, so wikipedia won't be a top priority for a while. You've got the basics down, and I know you'll be in good hands with Keeper and Rlevse to guide you.--Fabrictramp (talk) 00:19, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Reply to question on recent event

Sorry I did not get back to you quicker, I missed your question on my talk page for some reason. I have reviewed what happened over your rollback rights and the obvious conclusion I can draw is only use rollback for vandalism and your own edits - don't use it for anything else, it just isn't worth it. If you need to do a revert outside this area, use another method with an appropriate edit summary, or take an alternative action. Don't hesitate to report to WP:AN3 when edit warring is happening, it is busy but there a lot of admins watching and you should get results reasonably quickly. WP:AIV is useful but it is only for when a block is needed immediately (meaning the reported user should have edited within the last 15 minutes, 30 at most) to stop obvious (to nearly anyone) vandalism and spam. WP:ATWV gives a short but clear insight into what vandalism is supposed to be, WP:V is more detailed. Content dispute edit wars, although disruptive is not a form of vandalism. I don't think B was being unreasonable when he removed your rollback rights, though I am glad you did well in responding to the removal and successfully got it back, as you should have done. It is important for when you (assuming you are still planning to) request adminship you have shown you can use the rollback tool correctly - as you will have this, plus other more powerful tools at your disposal. Offer

Hi Dusti. I would like to take up your offer on my Editor Review, I really think I could benefit from your guidance. --FGWQPR (talk) 19:39, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Sir, you removed a section supported by 13 sources

[1]

Do you really think that´s a good edit?. Randroide (talk) 21:00, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

I stand by the edit because it is pure speculation. There is no definate material there that someone can use. It wasn't in violation of NPOV, but maybe it can be rewritten so that someone can use it for their benifit. Does what I'm saying make sense? Dusticomplain/compliment 21:03, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
NO. It doesn´t make sense at all. Please paste your answer at Talk:Controversies_about_the_2004_Madrid_train_bombings#.22Speculation.22 and lets talk there. Thank you. Randroide (talk) 21:10, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Rewrite on Madrid Bombings Section

Hi, I think it's fairly clear that Randroide isn't going to agree to our compromise proposal. I propose to proceed with the rewrite of the section anyway, I'll just have to do it offline as best I can. We'll see whether anyone comments on his RFC but it's not a reason in itself to hold up the rewriting of the section. Southofwatford (talk) 09:00, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Regarding your notes at WP:RPP

If you see edit-warring, feel free to leave {{subst:uw-3rr}} ~~~~ at the relevant talk pages. I warned four of the users you mentioned as having edit-warred. Enigma message Review 18:46, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Guess I could at least warn them huh? Are the comments that I am leaving constructive? Or would I be best to just watch what happens? Dusticomplain/compliment 18:51, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
It helps the admins to leave a note regarding what you think of the situation. Unfortunately, today RPP was neglected. You can't protect pages or block abusive users, but you can warn them. That's what I recommend for the future. I found your comments there to be generally helpful. The admin I buzzed did not feel that Christmas warranted indef semi-protection, however. Cheers, Enigma message Review 18:56, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

William Gaillard

Message received and understood. I have entered into discussions since a vandal was banned and a user immediately jumped on the article. I have reported the IP vandal and they were banned. I have sought page protection from non-registered users. I have also informed the wikiproject:football community of the attention the William Gaillard article is receiving. I shall take any warning under advisement though.Londo06 19:26, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

You reversion of my edit

I was removing irrelevant clutter. If you think a table which is not mentioned in the article and has nothing to do with the article should remain there, I'd be interested to here you reasoning. Misodoctakleidist (talk) 18:47, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

It shows an example, and in my opinion, the table isn't really clutter in the article. If you wish to have it removed, go ahead. I saw a large amount of text removed and assumed vandalism. Dusticomplain/compliment 18:49, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

my edits to Turkish people

Excuse me, could you please explain to me why you reverted my edits to Turkish people? I was only removing material from unreliable sources in good faith. --Tsourkpk (talk) 20:04, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Archive problems and editor review

Your archive seems to be functioning alright to me, you can let me know if you have any more problems. I saw your message to EVula (talk · contribs), I don't think it is currently possible to start an archive automatically every 2 months - if you want to do that, you may have to do it manually, as I do. I see you were involved in a incident with Blackzeppelin (talk · contribs) - while this user is clearly not a vandal s/he did not help him/herself by not using edit summaries, I have posted a comment on his/her talk page suggesting that s/he uses them in future. I noticed this user also posted a comment on your editor review - and that you are considering removing it. While I think the comments were very critical and lacked foundation, they were not a personal attack or incivil - I have seen many similar comments posted on RfAs. I would recommend you leave the comment - or move it to this talk page on the grounds it is about one incident, and not really a review. I have noticed your review is no longer on WP:ER as it is quite old now, you may wish to declare it closed. You can do his by simply leaving a note on the review and/or removing the request for reviews on your user/user talk pages. You can eventually start a brand new review at Wikipedia:Editor review/Dustihowe 2. Camaron | Chris (talk) 14:17, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Reverting me @ Gold rush

Hello, firstly, I am not new here - I am registered as user:YemeniteCamel for quite some time, and I've been editing in the Hebrew Wikipedia for over a year. Secondly, the article Gold rush is supposed to be shown first in Category:Gold rushes, as it is the main article about it. This is done in Chelsea FC as well - see how it is categorized down there. That article is categorized like this: [[category:Chelsea F.C.| ]]. הגמל התימני (talk) 15:22, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

The user was reported at WP:AIV with a comment "actions indicate a vandalism-only account"; when I checked one of his edits, I hit just the one where he replaced "Hunt" with "cunt" in a number of places, so I trusted the reporting user and didn't check any further. Now I re-checked his edits, and reduced the block to a week. - Mike Rosoft (talk) 19:08, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

In regards to the Pisces Iscariot article.

Uh, what exactly was the warning for? What was incorrect about my information, I didn't add any new information, I just changed how it looked. Not only that, I DID discuss on the talkpage that I was going to change the tracklisting format, so why did you revert it? Please revert it back. Pasta of Muppets (talk) 02:20, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

It seems to me that you removed a lot of text, that is the reason I reverted what appears to be vandalism. Can you explain? DustiSPEAK!! 02:27, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
So in your eyes, does it? I'm kind of insulted that responding to a template such as this one,
specifically the "improve this article if you can" part, is regarded in that way.
If you want an explanation that isn't sarcastic or time-wasting, here it is: The text I removed was already mentioned in the section, specifically, the credits, cover song info, etc... So I saw no reason for it to be there. I was complying with Wikipedia:Manual of Style and WP:Albums, jeez, what WASN'T I complying with...
I don't see any reason why it should of been reverted.
I seriously suggest/recommend you undo your revert. Pasta of Muppets (talk) 03:51, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Hey Dusti, I saw your apology, and think that you did just fine. Keep in mind though that an "apology" shouldn't have conditions or exceptions. It should really be "just an apology". You know I love you babe. Thanks for apologizing. One of the key traits of admins/admin candidates is their ability to apologize for their actions. Whether you are right or wrong (in this case, unfortunately, you were wrong), it is essential that you recognize that apologizing for your actions is the first and most important step to de-escalating a dispute in order to help everyone move along towards building a better encyclopedia. BTW, I'm looking forward to breaking 100, you are an excellent, dedicated editor, and I feel privileged to be able to work with you towards becoming an even better one! (admin or not!) AfD closure

Hey Dusti. You're doing some great work I see. I just wanted to offer a word of caution about closing AfDs. As a non-admin, I would have waited for an admin to close this one. Even when the nominator says "withdrawn", if there were many "delete" !votes as there were here, it could be potentially controversial to close it as "keep". I think this was the correct result, though (I said "keep" myself). Also I fixed up the formatting on your closure; hope you don't mind. Happy editing! Paul Erik (talk)(contribs) 00:05, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Put it in your monobook here. Then bypass your browser, depends on the type. Once you go to AFD's, you should see a close tab above. This is the condensed version, hope it helps :).
Installed it, but doesn't appear to work for me either :( thanks for helping TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 04:07, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Dusti, I was looking through the recent RfAs and notice this vote of yours. I have to say, it concerns me for a few reasons (not because of the AfD typo, I see you fixed that). Would you mind explaining the basis of that vote, the reasoning behind it, and why you suggested the candidate withdraw? Gwynand | TalkContribs 22:23, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Sure, I would be more than happy to. I based my !vote on the foundation that very few RFA's succeed with as low edit summary and main space editing that oren0 had. I don't see the RFA ending successfully and I felt that it would better for him/her to withdraw and instead go with an Editor Review, and then come back to RFA in a few months, with an improved edit summary useage and more mainspace edits. That was the largest part behind my comment. DustiSPEAK!! 22:33, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
What is wrong with his mainspace editing? Several admins have passed with much less, hell, Keeper did. Dusti, the reason I came here is because I think you need to understand that the "moral support" you gave, with suggestion of withdrawal, did much more damage to that candidacy than an oppose. It sort of sets a precedent that supports will be for moral reasons. Further, in a case like this where there is a real candidate who isnt SNOW or NOTNOW, its improper to suggest withdrawal and make a blanket statement that the RfA will fail (or be "closed", as you put it). It was, and still is, a very confusing position for someone to take, and considering how reasonable I know you are when it comes to discussing thing, I thought I'd press you on this. Gwynand | TalkContribs 22:39, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
See, I'm in a position where I try and be fair with each RFA. I wasn't exactly sure how the RFA would go, so I gave moral support....I'm not really too sure how I feel about the oren0 at this point. DustiSPEAK!! 22:46, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
I know you are trying to be fair, that's why I thought I'd discuss this with you. Believe me, I didn't come here to sway your vote. It's that we should be careful when making statements about the outcome of the RfA so early on in one, specifically for a candidate that has a real chance of passing. If you are going to suggest a candidate withdraw that early, and say it will fail that early, you need very specific reasons for your statements. I know you are becoming more active in RfA voting, but his mainspace editing isnt in SNOW territory, and edit summary usage has become a very minor sidepoint for whether or not to support a candidate. So, maybe just to wrap this up, I'm advising to avoid discussing the RfA outcome when its really not certain whatsoever. Gwynand | TalkContribs 22:55, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Ok, and I'm going to make a quick visit to that RFA.....DustiSPEAK!! 22:55, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Dusti, I've added my support to that RfA. I think you should read what I wrote in support (I came here to do exactly what Gwynand did, which was to ask you for clarification of your !vote that you have now struck). I was about a week away from nominating him. He didn't know that, but the diffs from my userspace that I made last week prove it. Keeper | 76 | Disclaimer 16:58, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

Editors can sometimes seem a bit overzealous, what with all their duties. Relax. The info I added on ampalaya is not ‘unconstructive’ or ‘impertinent’ by any stretch of the imagination. Throwing notices

You don't send warnings for anyone for reverting once. Do consider checking the article history before throwing in warnings to regular editors. Please be careful the next time else I would start a thread at ANI about severe abuse of editing privelages. ƬheStrikeΣagle sorties 16:55, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Severe abuse of editing privileges? I suggest looking up 3RR. You don't have to have 3 edits m'dear - You've joined in an edit war. Take it to the talk page on the article and don't try to team up against the IP. You're more than welcome to start a thread at AN/I if you wish. Dusti*poke* 16:59, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
You don't give a high level warning to any one for one revert. The user must have atleast 2 revert to warrant one. I pretty well know 3 edits aren't necessary, but 1 is not an error... ƬheStrikeΣagle sorties 17:01, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
There are four reverts between yourself, the IP, and Uncletomwood. All three of you should actually get a warning. You know better than to engage in an edit war, or at least you should. It's not a "High Level Warning" - or at least I don't view it as such. Sometimes you simply need a reminder to take the dispute to the talk page - and as such, that's what you're going to do, right? :) Dusti*poke* 17:05, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
It is a high level warning....you dont need to template me for it. A simple talk message should suffice. I didn't even plan to revert the second time and that notice is really not what I expected! Reminders need not be templates ƬheStrikeΣagle sorties 17:08, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
It sounds like you're not upset really for the message, but for the fact that you feel like you were issued a "severe warning" and that you're in some sort of trouble, which isn't the case. You were merely poked and reminded to take the dispute to the talk page. The fact that you are (or were) in an edit war is indisputable. In any sense, you are aware of the issue now and you can take it up with Uncletomwood and the IP on the article's talk page. Have a great day :) Dusti*poke* 17:12, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
I wouldn't really mind if you left a soft message on my talk..but I felt the warning was too much for it..considering I made a single edit to the article.....it's unfortunate that I get templared for making a single revert. ƬheStrikeΣagle sorties 17:15, 22 June 2013 (UTC)

Absolutely! I'll check it out and do what I can! Dusti*poke* 16:04, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

I have no idea what that was about. I didn't do it. My two year old godson had my iPad the other day and I was logged into Wikipedia, I think he may have done it. --Jeremy (blah blahI did it!) 17:52, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

Shouldn't I just move that to another thread on that board? It seems like the major issue is POV pushing. I don't care, I am just asking.Casprings (talk) 00:33, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

If the issue you want to bring forth is POV, then you can move it to a new thread. If you want to report it for WP:3RR, then that's the appropriate board :) Dusti*poke* 00:34, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Sorry about that removal. Nothing I meant to do.Casprings (talk) 01:27, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Could you take a look at this user?

IP user 66.3.28.165 keeps removing links to a specific website from articles. I am not sure if these removals are legitimate but wanted a second opinion before doing anything Andrew Kurish (talk) 00:39, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

That is strange, as he's only going after one link it appears (though the link is to the same site, just different locations). I'm not quite sure if I'd classify it as vandalism as a "Tour Agency" isn't necessarily a good external link to have because it's spammish. I'll watch the user and see if anything comes of it, and I'll drop them a line. Dusti*poke* 00:47, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

Re: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Alexander_(tennis)?diff=561919028

There is no credible evidence that this statement is true. Indeed the entire Politics section appears to be have been written by someone who is likely to be a John Alexander supporter - http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=John_Alexander_(tennis)&oldid=525689403

The sections regarding table tennis have little to no significance in the context of Australian politics.

Just to check...

...in reference to the WP:CBAN suggestion. I'm inexperienced at this; do you have any suggestions? MezzoMezzo (talk) 10:23, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

It gets tricky I believe. Let me research it today, and I'll see what I can figure out. Dusti*poke* 15:29, 3 July 2013 (UTC)
Hey Mezzo, I spent some time researching what to do from here, and with some help from TParis, basically what we do from here is approach WP:AN and say "Look, we tried to talk to this user about their issues in this topic area and they refused to discuss. We think they just need to stick out of the topic area for 6 months." or whatever consensus we come to in the RFC. Dusti*poke* 02:54, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
And point to the RFC and provide the diffs as well.--v/r - TP 02:56, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Edit warring because you think something is better is not the solution. Try discussing it on the talk page. Dusti*poke* 01:06, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Why should I? Is it worth discussion to Find out Velazquez more important link?
Because continuing to edit war on the article may get you blocked. We value collaboration, not someone's singular point of view. In the future, please sign all of your posts with ~~~~ to allow others to know who made which comment. Dusti*poke* 01:15, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
I just started, i don't see anyone discussing at the talk page -postmodernart555
Most editors are volunteers, and thus it may be a bit before someone replies to you. When it becomes obvious that there's an issue with an edit, or someone reverts you, don't get into an edit war with them. It looks like Vandalism to individuals like myself who use tools to remove such edits. Take it to a talk page, or message the editor who reverted your edit. Remember, we don't own the articles we edit. (You forgot to sign your post with four tildas. It's important you do that! :) ) Dusti*poke* 01:48, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

They delete my input from TALK pages, it seems like this site not very welcoming to any new people or conversation. i'm terrifyed someone calls my edits vandalism, read it before you act!!! talk

SuGui Kriss

Thanks for your review, but one question, how come the infobox in this article reads 25-26, when it suppose to give the exact persons age? SuGui Kriss--Mishae (talk) 01:56, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

That is actually weird. It could be the wiki software because today/yesterday was/is her birthday. Dusti*poke* 02:01, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
According to Wikipedia edit history it is the 8th right now. Shouldn't be a problem...--Mishae (talk) 02:03, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Right, however, EST it's the 7th. I'm really not sure. It appears to be auto-calculated, as I went to edit the page and I don't see her actual age being listed, yet calculated by the date of birth. Dusti*poke* 02:05, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
Another thing, maybe its my inexperience, but why do I see only month and year but not the date when it comes to people infoboxes? Like shouldn't it appear as July 6, 1987 (25)?--Mishae (talk) 02:09, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
I believe that'd come down to the fact that we have her full birth date. Some notable individuals we only know their month/year. Being an encyclopedia having full information is more beneficial in my opinion. Though, I didn't create the article, I just patrolled it. Dusti*poke* 02:45, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

Removing relisted deletion notice

I removed a relisted deletion notice that can be seen here: [2] The notice stated "You may remove this message if you improve the article or otherwise object to deletion for any reason. Although not required, you are encouraged to explain why you object to the deletion, either in your edit summary or on the talk page. If this template is removed, do not replace it." I removed the notice, explaining why I did so. Soon afterwards, a bot relisted the notice and I received a message on my talk page here: [3] What do I do wrong? In my perception, I did what the deletion notice stated by removing the message and expalining why I do so in the edit summary. David O. Johnson (talk) 04:48, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

HI David! Thanks for coming to me and asking for help! What appears to have happened is a user nominated the article for deletion and then placed what's called a PROD tag on the article which is actually inappropriate. It appears when you went to remove the PROD tag, you also removed the AfD template. The PROD tag should have never been placed on the article, as it's being considered for deletion still. The situation seems to have worked itself out now, but that's what happened. Does that help? Dusti*poke* 04:54, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation; so the notice should be left there, right? I recall that it was relisted in order to reach consensus. Thanks again. David O. Johnson (talk) 05:33, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

You are correct! Discussions run for seven days, and if there's no discussion, they can be relisted up to two times. Dusti*poke* 05:34, 13 July 2013 (UTC)

Heads up- Incorrect Reversion

Hey, I just wanted to give you a heads up- when you performed this edit reversion, you reverted the page back to an incorrect version. DRN needs your help!

Hi there. I've noticed it's been a while since you've been active at DRN, and we could really use your help! DRN is going to undergo some changes soon, so it'd really be great if our backlog is cleared before the start of August and we have as many people on board to help with the changes (they include a move to subpages and the creation of a rotating "co-ordinator" role to help manage things day-to-day. Liberal Democratic Party of Russia/Political Party LDPR

The party renamed itself from the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia to the Political Party LDPR. The original shortname was moved and changed, however this causes it's name to appear incorrect on the pages for elections before the change. 24.121.215.171 (talk) 04:17, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

The page you are attempting to edit is a redirect to another article. That information should be placed on that article. Dusti*Let's talk!* 04:19, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
What it is redirecting to isn't an article! It is a shortname template. Or is there a method of using both names in a single template that I"m not aware of? 24.121.215.171 (talk) 04:23, 20 July 2013 (UTC)
You'll need to ask this user, as they redirected the page. Dusti*Let's talk!* 04:26, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

My edit on the page of "The First Doctor" - Talkback

Hi, I noticed you deleted my addition because of a lack of citation, but 1) neither Hartnell or Hurndall have citations attached to their names and 2) going to David Bradley's page reveals that he will be starring as the first doctor. Thus, I don't see the reason for a citation--especially on that section of the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.95.180.32 (talk) 01:45, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Hello, Dusti. You have new messages at Diptanshu.D's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

Instead of leaving the fate of the page to others, I think that you can directly intervene so that I can proceed with the editing on the respective page. I was planning to enhance the Wikipedia article on the topic irrespective of the location of the page. I have already expressed my views on the talk page of the new and alleged article. Kim Seung-soo

I noticed that the previous editor in List of South Korean dramas added all of Kim Seung-soo's TV series that were not previously listed, even though they didn't have their own Wikipedia pages. So I double-checked his filmography in AsianWiki.com and Wiki.D-addicts.com, and Kim Seung-soo doesn't seem to be part of the Who Are You (2013) cast, nor are there any articles supporting this. Which is why I deleted it. [4]
