Veg box scheme

I have removed the {{prod}} tag from Veg box scheme, which you proposed for deletion. I'm leaving this message here to notify you about it. If you still think the article should be deleted, please don't add the {{prod}} template back to the article. Instead, feel free to list it at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Thanks! Link for "Air raid"

Your bot has change the link for "Air raid" to that of "Air Strike". This is incorrect when referring to bombings that occurred during The Blitz or for most indiscriminant bombing. I have change back the links in "The Bells Go Down" and "Harry Tate". DonJay (talk) 14:00, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

I don't like it staying on Air Raid as that is a disamguation page. I should have linked indiscriminant bombing to Strategic bombing. I'll have to go one by one. Let me know if you disagree with the not linking directly to Air Raid. PirateArgh!!1! 15:16, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

I have a similar objection with regard to Air raid precautions. Airstrike has a more modern connotation or useage and does not really fit with World War 2 subjects. I do however agree that a link to a disambiguation page is not suitable. So I have changed the link to Aerial bombing of cities#European theatre which seems eminently more applicable. 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 00:05, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

I misread you the first time and deleted my response. Thanks for the new link, I'm waiting for as many suggestions as possible before going through the whole list. PirateArgh!!1! 05:44, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of List of wheelchair users

A tag has been placed on List of wheelchair users requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. manadude2 (talk) 23:40, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

edit summaries..

I just saw your reverts on Civil defense siren. Can you make sure to use an edit summary when reverting spam or vandalism? It makes things easier to spot, and it's one way to signal your intent. Tools like Huggle and Twinkle make this much easier, but (as you may know) you can also set your preferences to force you to use edit summaries. Cheers, tedder (talk) 03:43, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

We were all engaged in an edit war with 75.89.235.174 and all of us violated the Three-revert rule while removing his edits. I read up on it, and the rule applies to all edits, even if it's vandalism. Ginbot86 (talk) 14:43, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

THe mathhew lesko page was not vandalized. I added a link to the citation, now I have no idea how you would see it that way but your reversal of my contribution is counter productive. Please stop. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Root Beers (talkcontribs) 01:55, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Dan Pero Manescu

Hello Drunken Pirate, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I declined the speedy deletion of Dan Pero Manescu - a page you tagged - because: A7: article asserts importance -- "over 30 Group and One Man Shows", "Over 35 articles ... in several newspapers and magazines". Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 04:10, 4 December 2009 (UTC)

A10 speedy for "Sales Department"

What a useful new speedy! but in deleting the article I noticed that the links in the warning message weren't working right. I have been experimenting, and it seems that you don't need "1=" in the db tag: just {{db-a10|Sales}} is what works. One other point; where a user is quite new, like that one, it's a good idea to add a welcome message before the speedy notice - {{subst:firstarticle|<articlename>}} is a good one - to soften the WP:BITEyness of the speedy, and to give them some links to learn more about how to contribute. Keep up the patrolling - New Pages needs all the eyes it can get! JohnCD (talk) 19:14, 5 December 2009 (UTC)

Help

I am confused about what is going on with my page that I'm trying to build. You are saying it is copyright infringement and I am still working to add in sources. All sources will be sited if you will give me a chance to add them in. This is a work in progress. This is my first time making a page, and I would appreciate it if you would give me a break to work out the kinks and add in my sources without changing my page. Please, this for a grade and it is due tomorrow. Just let me edit my page without any interruptions please. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Onepitch16 (talkcontribs) 11:06, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs

Hello Drunken Pirate! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to this article, it would greatly help us with the current 940 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

  1. Cuauhtémoc Sandoval Ramírez - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 16:49, 2 January 2010 (UTC)

I recently removed a speedy delete tag that you had placed on Panther in Spanish. I do not think that Panther in Spanish fits any of the speedy deletion criteria because The page is not an article, and thus does not qualify for CSD A1. If you think it's an implausible redirect, try another appropriate criteria, or try WP:RFD. I request that you consider not re-tagging Panther in Spanish for speedy deletion without discussing the matter on the appropriate talk page. You are, of course, free to tag the article with {{prod}} or nominate it at WP:AFD. Shirik (Questions or Comments?) 02:47, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

I understand process, but do you really think I'm going to have a discussion with someone on the talkpage of an implausible redirect? Why not wp:ignore and delete as an implausible redirect? PirateArgh!!1! 02:50, 3 January 2010 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to the encyclopedia! In case you are not already aware, an article to which you have recently contributed, Climatic Research Unit hacking incident, is on article probation. A detailed description of the terms of article probation may be found at Wikipedia:General sanctions/Climate change probation. Also note that the terms of some article probations extend to related articles and their associated talk pages.

The above is a templated message. Please accept it as a routine friendly notice, not as a claim that there is any problem with your edits. Thank you. -- TS 13:01, 7 February 2010 (UTC)

Spanish name

There is a consensus to use the Spanish template when we are referring to Argentine items --Jor70 (talk) 01:14, 13 March 2010 (UTC)

No. The general practice on Falklands articles is that, in articles whose subject is significant to the dispute, the first reference to the islands is written as "Falkland Islands (Spanish: Islas Malvinas)". PirateArgh!!1! 04:43, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
And why you deleted the first reference then ? --Jor70 (talk) 10:16, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
Why did I delete the first reference? What reference? PirateArgh!!1! 04:42, 17 March 2010 (UTC)

Your username

Please fix your username so that the name that is displayed when you sign your comments is your actual username. It's confusing to other editors (me at least) that when you sign comments, your username appears to be "Pirate" but when you make changes to articles, your username displays in the edit history as "Drunken Pirate". I thought at first you were two different editors. Ghostofnemo (talk) 04:00, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Actually there is no policy to support this demand. See WP:SIG.--Terrillja talk 04:13, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Sorry if you got confused. Lots of people change their name a little like that. If anyone else complains I'll go back to default. PirateArgh!!1! 05:13, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
  • Support/Keep Sig in current format, although adding the "Drunken" does give it a nice ring. Beach drifter (talk) 06:44, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
Actually, Terrillja, that was a polite request. There was no demand or threat involved. It's confusing to me, so I assume it's potentially confusing to others. Ghostofnemo (talk) 07:14, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

FYI

Hi! I think you may find this interesting. Regards. Oda Mari (talk) 07:48, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for chiming in on the raping and pillaging line by the way. I thought it was a great quote and spoke volumes about the subject over several different levels. I didn't consider that it could be read that poorly. I changed it based on two editors throwing red flags so thanks for keeping me inline there!Cptnono (talk) 11:58, 13 April 2010 (UTC)

Sadomasochism

I mean nothing personal by my revert of your one word "convoluted" used in the description of the term BDSM.

The definition of convoluted, as you know, is an adjective that can be perceived as negative or judgmental. It is true that it can mean something as simple as "intricate", which would be a better word to use as it is not perceived as judgmental. However, I am not sure that even that adjective adds meaningfully to the understanding of the term. The term BDSM is a portmanteau, and can describe a broad spectrum of activity.

My objection to the use of convoluted, therefore, is that it does not add clarity, or offer information that helps the reader understand the term any better. Then, adding the possibility that some may view the term as derogatory, it seems not useful to use that term.

Could you explain why you feel that use of the term is helpful to clarity in understanding the term? Atom (talk) 12:36, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

I never added the word, merely reverted its removal when it was claimed it was some kind of subjective value judgment because the word does have an applicable objective function in describing the acronym.. Since you've made an argument that isn't about the meaning of the word, I have no objection to its removal. PirateArgh!!1! 04:52, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

Your AfD nomination

Hi there. Your nomination of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Voluntary Human Extinction Movement (2nd nomination), has now been listed by the bot on the discussion page (it's easy to miss that stage, I forgot to do it myself this morning!). Feedback?

Just a head's up, I'm soliciting feedback on the VHEMT article in the talk section for the current revision that you nominated for deletion, I've made a substantial revision in the effort to meet WP policy guidelines. Please take a look and let's discuss how to improve the article. --Nuujinn (talk) 01:16, 29 April 2010 (UTC)

Helvetism article

Hi, I saw it was you who removed the work of months in just one edit on that article. You may have a point that this is NOT Wiktionary, but did you put this vocabulary list to Wiktionary, and if so, where to? I couldn't find it. You just deleted it without moving it to another place. For me your change was nothing but just a sort of destroying other's hard work. -andy 92.229.185.11 (talk) 10:49, 25 May 2010 (UTC)

It is supposed to be an article, not an exhaustive treatment of every example ever. I didn't "destoy" everything, anything deleted can be restored and discussed on the talk page if there is still disagreement. Being overly dramatic isn't usually productive either. PirateArgh!!1! 02:57, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

I noticed that you have revised either Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri or Sid Meier's Alien Crossfire.

I intend to revise those articles following the Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines. There are more details on the discussion pages of those articles. I'd be interested in any comments you have. It would be best if your comments were on the discussion pages of the two articles.

Thank you.

Chris Noth

Thanks for your involvement in cleaning up the Chris Noth article. In spite of a lot of friendly and polite advice, the combative editor in question has a confirmed history of spontaneous unprovoked and very nasty, very personal personal attacks on regular, mature editors, and resorts to righteous indignation when cornered.--Kudpung (talk) 05:23, 21 June 2010 (UTC)

I can't tell if I'm being trolled or there are emotional/maturity problems. I guess it doesn't really matter in the end. PirateArgh!!1! 05:30, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
I was thanking you for adding the missing refs. I was referring to the immature behaviour of Alistair, who has a clear history of unprovoked, and often very nasty, very personal attacks on mature, established editors, and parcticing double standards. When cornered, he resorts, like a spoilt child, to righteous indignation. In spite of having been the target for some of his spontaneous insults out of the blue, I have given him some genuinely polite and friendly advice in the past, but apparently to no avail.--Kudpung (talk) 06:35, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
I know, I wasn't referring to you. The "are they trolling, 12 years old, or just crazy" question is just curiosity on my part. Since you can never know you just have to try to be really nice to avoid getting emotional. PirateArgh!!1! 06:46, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
This latest Chris North episode demonstrates a clear pattern of this editor's behaviour - there are plenty of diffs. I wouldn't be surprised if he even tries to escalate and pretend that everyone else was ganging up on him. --Kudpung (talk) 08:16, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
Better to apologize than to fuel any drama. Don't take the bait. It's like having a crazy girlfriend without any of the benefits. PirateArgh!!1! 08:21, 21 June 2010 (UTC)"
You're right of course, but every time he stirs up trouble then innocently proclaims "It wasn't me", he leaves a lot of threatening stuff on my otherwise relatively clean and helpful talk page ;) I'm loathe to take him to Aunty Anny, because I have better things to do, and his squabbles are not serious enough to use up admin time.--Kudpung (talk) 08:51, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
