- You must back up claims you make in articles with reliable sources. Simms' entry into the Houston mayoral race is based on a story in the Houston Chronicle, which says in part: "The other announced challenger is Kevin Simms, whose major splash at City Hall was his involvement in a controversy surrounding Councilman Jarvis Johnson. Simms, acting as a volunteer intern in Johnson's office…"[2] It mentions neither a doctoral degree held by Simms nor appointment as chairman of The MAGnet. —C.Fred (talk) 22:18, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Assuming we are speaking to Kevin Simms, it is generally considered bad form to make edits about yourself on Wikipedia. As a candidate for Mayor, eventually there will be other reliable sources (such as news articles, or non-partisan sites such as the LWV) that will report on your candidacy and describe your qualifications.
