I'm sorry your early Wiki-experience was a bust. The Wikipedia tea room is a good place for new editors to go to get help and a good welcome.

By the way, the "ping" only works if you put a "|" after the word ping AND if you "sign" your comment by adding "davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:42, 28 November 2015 (UTC)" to the end of it. I fixed up your comment on the Village Pump and added a second "ping" along with my signature just to make sure the message was delivered.[reply]

Also, you put your reply ABOVE some existing messages in a way that implied that those people were replying to you, when of course they weren't. I shifted your message down a few lines so the flow of the conversation is clear again.
