adoption

thank you for proposing of adopting me. I will graciously accept, please help me i am very new at this. --Muffins222 (talk) 17:06, 22 February 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the offer to help.

Thanks for replying to my message on my talk page, the person I originally asked does not appear especially active anymore. I'd like to start by trying to improve the article on Colmworth - I feel I can add a lot to this article with a little research from myself, but I'm not really sure how I give evidence. How do documents outside of wikipedia get verified as good sources etc? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Silvestra (talkcontribs) 23:58, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Thnaks for the briefly

I should imagine it will stay in as is, unless I decide to use it as one of the larger bits. I doubt that though, because I've contributed to the discussion and I always feel weird summarising debates I've participated in. Hiding T 08:44, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Signpost article

Hi - sorry I didn't read your message about reviewing the article on the war of 1812 page. Interesting to see it reported in a newspaper. I actually disagree with what is written in the Signpost article, and largely agree with the Irish Independant, the nationality of the editors on Wikipedia definitely meant that the viewpoint that the war was won by Britain was supressed (against WP:undue weight), and that the war was a "draw" was the main theory upheld. Adoption

Thanks! I would like for you to adopt me.--Penguin Warchief 11:49, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

You adopted me...

And now you get to help! Why are half of my userboxes' pictures higher than they're supposed to be? (And are you supposed to answer on my page, or here? And if I reply where would I do that?) fetchcomms 22:20, 8 October 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for your insight, it really cleared that up! fetchcomms 01:25, 9 October 2009 (UTC)
I'm writing an essay, and it seems that most essays are in the project namespace, although a few are in userspace. Would it be best if I leave mine in my user area when completed, or does it not matter all that much?--fetchcomms 03:20, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, I did see that and you clarified it for me!--fetchcomms 18:40, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Thank you anyway for replying to my request...

I'd like to give myself a shot at still being adopted by someone in my area, but thank you so much for responding. I agree with your view point and I feel you put forth a good argument on your user page to, I think I will at least see what the other side has to say to gain some insight into this wikipedia issue. I did not know this was going on with-in wikipedia, I wonder how many other type of issues are under the surface of wikipedia, now being a new member I feel I will learn much. Notability proposal

Do you intend to post "Proposal: Change the article's second sentence from "Article topics are required to be notable" to "Article topics should be notable." from WT:N into Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Policies? It would be your call to make. patsw (talk) 14:10, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

In terms of having the wording fairly reflect the proposal (as of October 23), and the shape of the debate so far, we are in accord. I remain opposed to the proposal. patsw (talk) 12:45, 23 October 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for adoption

Hey hi,Thanks for adopting me!

  • Can I delete the speedy deletion of my articles tags placed in my user talk pages?? It is making my talk page crowded...shall I refresh it by emptying it of unnecessary talks??
  • Do I need to check what an user has contributed while welcoming them?? I'm active for a week in welcoming new users and I do at an average of 100 per day(I welcome by seeing violet contribs link besides their username)!

Creating sub pages or multiple pages in draft form

Hi,

Many thanks for adopting me! I hope you can help.

Can you create draft versions of pages on your User Page? (so that they are not yet published for public view) I want to set up my main page and sub page information as a draft in my userpage, before moving it to a live article. Is there any way of creating separate draft pages and linking them all together before publishing the whole thing?

On my first attempt on making an article live, it was deleted, so don't want this to happen again. I am writing articles related to my company I am employed with, but have stated my intentions on my user page.

Please help!

Thanks,

I notice you offered to adopt this user, he could probably use your guidance right about now, the reasons will be obvious if you go to his talk page. Beeblebrox (talk) 22:49, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

OK, another question: if there's a redlink in a page, should I a. leave it b. remove the link c. other choice? What's the difference between rollbacks, reverts, and undos? All I found was that rollbacking is an automated task, but is there any other difference?--fetchcomms 22:45, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
I'm so lost... So I was going to welcome a new user but realized that they might be advertising or stuff. They made an article about a 1-search-result-on-google person and I'm not exactly sure how to go about nominating for deletion or any of that. Dicky Alfred Roy is the page in question. Thank you in advance!--fetchcomms 23:15, 31 October 2009 (UTC)
So it was nominated for an AfD and promptly deleted... I guess my question was how to nominate for an AfD and the whole process etc.? I could read the whole article about it... but could you explain it in a simple way? --fetchcomms 02:30, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Adoption

Hello Draeco, it's nice of you to offer me adoption, but before I accept, I need to know a little more about you and what you do. What are your interests? What is your edit style? What articles do you like to edit? (I'd appreciate it if you respond on my talk page.)--Jakkinx Happy Mogloween! 03:39, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Hah, I'm not sure if you would like adopting me, most of my focus is on video games, and like you, I like to make large edits to pages, or create my own. The only serious problems I have with editing are sourcing and linking, plus spelling and grammar, and I don't think you would like to spend all your time doing that.--Jakkinx Happy Thanksgiving! 04:23, 2 November 2009 (UTC)

Grammar

So, I was wondering if there is any guide on what to do if a user has bad grammar/spelling, etc., but has good intentions.--fetchcomms 19:46, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

If someone just has plain bad grammar, should I leave some sort of message on their talk page then?--fetchcomms 03:10, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I won't :) Thanks.--fetchcomms 03:28, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
That's good. I hate offending people that I don't know, like here... And it seems like it happens to everyone all the time.--fetchcomms 03:33, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for offering to adopt me

I am so confused on how to develop a page for a friend of mine Michael David Shulman. He blogs on society and celebrity in Las Vegas and has written for several national publications. He and his family are also board members of many charities in our city. I find him worthy of a page like Perez Hilton's (except he is NOT hated ~lol) I just don't know where to start even after reading the wizard.--AdrienneHester (talk) 05:37, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

"Unreferenced" Template

I have recently added three references to this article --> [[1]]. Is that amount sufficient enough to remove the template, especially considering the length of the article. Many thanks Kangxi Emperor (talk) 17:56, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for the info. As of your statement the national day of Qatar is 18 September, and the independence day is on 3rd of September. They both are a different thing, and both are a public holiday, yet I still have no idea of why. I will clarify it later on. By the way how to know that a particular article is no longer "unreferenced", is there any agreed amount of it? Regards Kangxi Emperor (talk) 11:56, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Inquiries Regarding Image

Greetings! First of all sorry for messing up with your talk page, I am really eager to know this: Is adding images from Flickr is not against copyright? If not then how to upload images? I have seen many articles that would look nicer if I insert some images, yet unfortunately Wikimedia foundations does not have the images that I am loooking for. Thanks Kangxi Emperor (talk) 12:53, 3 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks a lot, I am still a little bit confused with the licensing but never mind, I will sort that by myself. As for now I give the public domain license for my images. Kangxi Emperor (talk) 13:25, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Adoption

Hey, I got your offer for adoption. Thank you. I just wanted to clarify some things.

As I mentioned in my profile, I am interested in math-related stuff. In other words, I plan on editing math/science articles pretty much exclusively, with some exceptions, obviously. So, in essence, what I am looking for mostly is help with the math code for wikipedia, as well as other general editing stuff. Would you be able to help me in this way? If not, do you know of any other adopters who make frequent edits to science articles, and could help me out?

Thanks, g3ku —Preceding unsigned comment added by Going3killu (talkcontribs) 19:05, 10 December 2009 (UTC)

References

Hey mate, I have just roaming around on Wikipedia:WikiProject Qatar this past few days looking for article that needs to be fixed. I realised that adding references are quite a hassle, especially having to type the reflist in the format that you used in this article. If you have any tips or trick for me to use this format more easily then please kindly share it with me. Cheers Kangxi Emperor (talk) 17:37, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the info. I guess you're right, I need to practice on the format. Most of the time I did it wrongly and it actually took quite sometime to check and recheck what went wrong. Anyway just asking, how to create an appropriate title for the references, as most of the time the trickiest for filling the references is the title itself. Kangxi Emperor (talk) 16:11, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
No, sorry my bad, anyway what I meant was in the reflist, according to your format that you used in public holidays in Qatar, it is something like the following:

{reflist| ref = a{cite web | url = http:/en.wikipedia.org/main_page | title = (this is the title I am talking about) | publisher = Wikimedia Commons}/ref —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kangxi emperor6868 (talkcontribs) 06:40, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the info! :) Kangxi Emperor (talk) 05:21, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

How to handle self promoter?

I noticed that on a page I'm watching, Network_management, an IP user added a link to a possibly promotional site which didn't offer very much to enhance the article. I checked their revision history, and it seems to consist almost entirely of adding links to the same site.

I did a whois search, and it seems that the IP doing the editing is registered by a company with the same name: self-promotion! I removed the link and followed up with a warning on the IP's talk page: level 2, since my warning was the second one.

My question is, did I handle this right? And now, should I delete the other inserted links? Can you point me to guidelines on how do deal with self-promoters? And are there guidelines for when to escalate warnings to higher levels, and when to drop back to level 1 warnings? I find it hard to search Wikipedia for guidelines on editing; I usually come up with tons of archives and talk pages. Thanks! — FeygeleGoy/פֿײגעלע גױ‎ (talk) 20:46, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for offering to adopt.

Hey, I joined thinking I'd help edit some articles - but now I'm feeling kind of nervous. Do I just find the articles tagged as needing cleanup and work on them? I have some background in editing but I've always been able to clarify with the author if something was vague, there's no easy way to do that here. And should I trust myself enough to remove the template when I'm finished? I guess I'm just scared of messing up. Oddminton (talk) 02:52, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

Image Problem

I have just added an image here which I recently took, I have added it into the Commons, and it fits into the article perfectly except for one image at the infobox. You can see the irrelevant text above and under the image. I have tried to find where does that text came from yet so far I did not found the answer. I just want to know if you could fix it (and tell me the way to do it, so that I know what to do just in case if I stumbled upon the same thing later on). Thanks Kangxi Emperor (talk) 05:25, 27 December 2009 (UTC)

I see, thanks a lot for that. Kangxi Emperor 康熙帝 (talk) 05:09, 28 December 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for the offer

Thanks for the offer. I want to get the proper information on Wikipedia, and with your help, I can. There is so much more than the current Wiki page on Idiopathic Pulmonary Hemosiderosis has on it now. As a medical student, you can see by just googling the subject, there are treatments that have extended the life of IPH patients, and even sent a greater number in remission. I have a website that I have maintained since 1995 with information on IPH, but I am unable to link it on Wikipedia because of a "conflict of interest", but there is less advertising (not mine) than the others listed. I have people email me from all corners of the globe, and if you were to google IPH, the Wiki site is 3rd on the list. Mine is on page 6. I am glad that there is so much more information on the web than there used to be (mine was first back in the 1990's). Any help would be appreciated. Regards. RE: Idiopathic Pulmonary Hemosiderosis

Thank you so much! I want to be a regular contributor to the Idiopathic Pulmonary Hemosiderosis entry, as I spend nights searching the internet for new contributions and pages. To see the page with accurate and linked information was refreshing, as I sent emails and text messages and every social network that IPH is involved with a link. I understand the conflict of interest issue with my own page now, thanks for the clarification. I will link to the Wiki on IPH from my page and work to get all in the IPH community to help me keep it current and the information from reliable sources. This is my first attempt at Wikipedia, and I hope it is the first of contributions as I may gain experience from this to help others. You are a lifesaver (possibly real time!) Thanks again. Regards, IphnetIphnet (talk) 22:25, 29 December 2009 (UTC)

Hey mate! I stumbled upon this article just now and I realised the picture was too big. I fixed the image issue (thanks to you), yet if you realise the title is somewhat peculiar. Is there any way to fix the title of the article? Thanks a lot Kangxi Emperor 康熙帝 (talk) 13:14, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Your reasons seem to be reasonable. I think you are right, I will simply create a redirect of Commercial Bank Plaza into that article instead. Even though the official website is written as "Commercial Bank of Qatar" most of other texts refer to it as "Commercialbank". Thanks for the info.

On a somewhat other occasion, I have seen an article that requires a speedy deletion. It should have been deleted by now yet I am simply wondering, what is the criteria that has to be met, and how to request a speedy deletion? Thanks Kangxi Emperor 康熙帝 (talk) 13:40, 10 January 2010 (UTC)

Irvings of Bonshaw : An Old Scots Border Clan - assistance required in editing article/s

Many thanks for your offer of help which is very much appreciated. I am new to Wikipedia and to submitting articles into Wikipedia.

What I am trying to load up into Wikipedia is background information on my ancestral line of which I am one of the very few remaining original descendants of this Old Scots Border Clan. There are many who have put into Wikipedia articles to do with my family history and family line but most if not all are erroneous and highly misleading, hence my attemtps at putting the records straight with my offering.

What I shall do over the next few days is to load up all the data with reference sources and then, if I may, revert to you for some assistance in getting it all sorted out and looking ok for Wikipedia.

Best regards,m

Redirect on Qatar Mosque

First of all, it has been quite a long time since my last question to you. I was busy with internal works a couple of days ago, yet now I should be back on track. By the way Qatar Mosque is more commonly known as "Fanar" here in Qatar. In fact at first I was unsure what is Qatar Mosque until I saw the picture. Therefore I tried to create a redirect of "Fanar" to Qatar Mosque, yet when I typed Fanar, it was already a redirect to an article about Eastern Christianity. Now my question is, how to remove the redirect of Fanar from here, and to create a disambiguation page for both subjects. Cheers Kangxi Emperor 康熙帝 (talk) 16:42, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Page created, thanks. By the way yes, in fact almost everyone, if not all, refer to it as "Fanar". Therefore if you come here and mention Qatar Mosque, most probably people have no idea what mosque it is. Kangxi Emperor 康熙帝 (talk) 11:30, 19 January 2010 (UTC)

Hi Draeco - thanks for offering to adopt me, I'm happy to accept! I don't have any questions at the moment, but I'm sure some will come up. I noticed you wrote on IPLawstudent's talk page. We are indeed acquainted, however we have been editing wikipedia separately, and generally have not interacted on wikipedia. In fact, we attend different law schools - though we are both interested in expanding the Canadian law section of wikipedia, specifically topics related to IP law. I'll be in touch with questions. Thanks again! --Bepa (talk) 15:32, 22 January 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bepa (talkcontribs) 15:30, 22 January 2010 (UTC)

Thank you!

Thanks for picking me as your adoptee! I have been working on the Linda McMahon article, and I think it is becoming better. It might interest you to know that I have a problem understanding what is notable and worthy of inclusion on the page. I see in your talk page that you take a lot of pride in being an inclusionist, and I would love your opinions. Again, thanks so much!

Oh, and if you're curious, I'm currently working on an HTML table on my talk page. I want it to look good before I place it on the article page.

Hi Draeco - I've been trying to update/standardize/add to Canadian Case law pages on wikipedia. I created a template to help me with this, and it's now been nominated for deletion.
