Not Promotional, just providing factual information. AscotTopHats (talk) 14:06, 23 May 2015 (UTC) Welcome![reply]

Hello, AscotTopHats, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, your edit to Top hat does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, click here to ask for help on your talk page, and a volunteer should respond shortly. Below are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. Conflict of interest user name,[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Top hat, and I noticed that your username, "AscotTopHats", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Trammel Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Mark at WidgetsUSA", "Jack Smith at the XY Foundation", and "WidgetFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a username change that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you.

Using Ascot Top Hats' own press release as a source (press releases are not considered reliable sources) does somewhat imply that you are only here to promote your company's point of view. Please consider requesting a change of user name and also familariising yourself with the correct form of Wikipedia editing and referencing. Also, your editing on Top hat showed that you have not read the sources you were dismissing because they didn't back up YOUR press release - you said De Bono's book just referenced the invention of elastic, but apparently didn't read the book in question which describes a hat "that folds by means of a steel spring inside the crown which collapses the fabric for carrying under the arm." (direct quote.) Mabalu (talk) 13:18, 23 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I did read articles Mabalu whilst both reference a 1812 hat, neither have come up with the conclusion that hat in question was from Dollman, that is source to research I have done, as such the article should source me. I have tried to correct it being unbiased by removing their and my reference yet you have also undid that edit to. My press release does not imply I am only here to promote your company's point of view. Merely you have inferred it, if you are serious about accurate top hat history please do call me to discuss. Though I do thank you for notification of Wiki regs though had have requested a name change.AscotTopHats (talk) 14:04, 23 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
