As reviewing administrator, I think it asserted some notability, & I did not delete it. However, it remains very promotional in tone. Please see our Business FAQ (which also applies to non-profit organisations) and follow its guidelines-- remove praise, just give factual information. And make certain none of it is copied from a web site--if so, it must be rewritten. This is an encyclopedia, not a place for promotion. I'll take anther look at the article tomorrow. I'd advise you to fix this very quickly, before it gets nominated for regular deletion. DGG (talk) 01:57, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What Folio did was truly ground breaking stuff in the late 1980s and early 1990s. But they were overtaken by web-based applications, which replaced the concept of intranets set up to be solely internal to a company's local area network. I realize that it is a fine line between promoting a company (which I am not) and giving their history. I'm trying to show what they did right, and what they did wrong. I am being specific about the details of their product, so that knowledgeable people within the industry can see the mistakes and learn from them. Actually I'm a victim of their fast moving technology, albeit minor and from (I've learned) a very small part of their product line. As I did research into my own problem I soon gained an appreciation of what they did that brought success so fast. My research was done mostly in 2004, so I'm having some difficulty revisiting it all. But I'm finding some new stuff, so I hope to tell a balanced, neutral story. The initial rant from 2004 is on my personal web site, and it is very negative. Don Strack (talk) 22:16, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My intent with this article is to show the impact Paul Allen and his companies have had on the availability of digital information via CD-ROMS and the Internet, with a focus on history and genealogy. I don't know him, and I've never met him. Neither have I worked for him, and I don't know anyone who has. Don Strack (talk) 16:59, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Page was kept for now, but you really must rewrite this as an article, not a CV see our guide to writing Wikipedia articles, and W:BIO, and our Business FAQ is also relevant, even when there is no conflict of interest. I'd advise you to do this very quickly, before it gets nominated for regular deletion.DGG (talk) 18:41, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
What is a CV? It is not on "our guide to writing Wikipedia articles."
Also, where would be a better place to put this information, than in a separate article? I specifically tried to make it less of an "article" since, due to lack of disinterested second- or third-party sources, almost any amount of narrative could easily be seen as promotional in nature. The only critical comments I have seen are from disgruntled former employees. This is one of my first articles, part of a group of articles that all have the same central subject, i.e. the overall story of Folio Corporation and Infobases, and their organizers. What happened to Don't Bite The Newbie? In this case, I'm trying to follow the guidelines in Biographies of living persons and Notability (People).
