License tagging for Image:Gov. Josias Fendall in prison.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Gov. Josias Fendall in prison.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 03:08, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

genealogy[edit]

People have recently been deleting articles for great-grandchildren of kings who have no particularly notable event in their own lives, and this sort of detailed genealogy has no place here. Nobody seems to have noticed it before. I suggest you shorten it a little, removing coats of arms etc. Then there will be less justification for removing these. To demonstrate good faith, I just rescued the article on Fendall II, which would surely have been deleted if the last testament etc had stayed in. Comment here, please; I will see it.DGG 04:11, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

unsourced[edit]

I notice that all of these articles are unsourced. What is your source? DGG 04:16, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thomas Dent, Sr.[edit]

Just an editing hint: Use headlines instead of bold text to create different sections and to automatically create a table of contents. Just type: == Headline text == for a level 2 headline (level 1 is reserved for article titles) use different amout of "=" for different levels (== for level 2, === for level 3, and ==== for level 4, ===== for level 5, and ====== for level 6. Note:(I've never seen anything higher than level 4 actually used) Mr.Z-mantalk 21:36, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Descendants of Governor Josias Fendall[edit]

Your page The Descendants of Governor Josias Fendall was recently speedily deleted. The reason was that it provided no context and was seen as a non-notable personal page. As this is an encyclopedia, each article should stand alone.. so creating a "reference" page dosn't really work. So, unfortunately you will have to put those references back into your articles. Also, as per DGG above, I caution you to be careful about how far with some of these persons.. as that some articles editors may see them as non-notable, etc.. so it's important that you get the source information back into the articles. Also, for some of the minor 'descendants', consider placing them in lists with short biographies if possible, prehaps on Fendall Family. This is a common practice on wikipedia when the individual characters are not very notable but worth mentioning in a larger context. But, like I said I am no expert on history, so I will leave it up to your discretion. Danski14 06:33, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also, I would do this ASAP, as at least one of your articles has been tagged (Benjamin Fendall II). Also, nice job with Josias Fendall. I can tell that he is an important historical figure. Danski14 06:44, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Also Edward Fendall was tagged for deletion. Danski14 06:45, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • As were several others. Please see our biography guideline. I guess this is your family, please do not assume that a chapter in the book is an indicator of encyclopaedic notability. Guy (Help!) 08:07, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am continuing to delete others in this series. I encourage you to review the biography guideline offered above and to answer any questions I may post on articles that are not yet deleted. Kafziel Talk 22:29, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fendall Winston Yerxa[edit]

A "{{prod}}" template has been added to the article Fendall Winston Yerxa, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Crambe[edit]

I am interested in the Fendalls inasmuch as they relate to Crambe esp. Karl Pearson - do you have anything of interest? (Others may have deleted it)

File source problem with File:American River.JPG[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:American River.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:56, 30 May 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 16:56, 30 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:1671 Maryland.GIF[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:1671 Maryland.GIF. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:16, 18 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 00:16, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Gov. Josias Fendall in prison.JPG[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Gov. Josias Fendall in prison.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 14:50, 23 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gov. Josias Fendall signature[edit]

Josias Fendall's signature

I made an SVG (vector graphic) version of your JPG image contribution of Gov. Josias Fendall's signature. The new version replaces the version on the Josias Fendall Wikipedia page. Both being public domain, they are now available only on Commons per f8—a good thing.

Notification of automated file description generation[edit]

Your upload of File:Brooke Coat of Arms 2.JPG or contribution to its description is noted, and thanks (even if belatedly) for your contribution. File permission problem with File:Stratford Hall Plantation 2.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Stratford Hall Plantation 2.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{permission pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. Here is a list of your uploads. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F11 of the criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. --TheImaCow (talk) 11:13, 24 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
