Temple News Today

Hello. Given your latest message on my talk page, I wanted to let you know that I have been able to update the St. George Utah and Manti Utah Temples as a result of today's temple updates. I haven't yet included the site information on the templates for the Toluca Mexico and João Pessoa Brazil Temple templates. I haven't yet done that in view of your message on my talk page. I wanted to make sure I understood what you were trying to tell me correctly. What I got from your message is that the site announcement date and site announcement link parameters are now defunct on the temple templates, and that the information that has traditionally filled those parameters is now to be included in the notes section, with applicable references. Is that correct? Is there anything from your message that I am missing? I will wait to hear back from you before I edit those templates so that I don't mess them up if I am missing anything. Thanks. JgstokesThank you! Last I checked, if reference is placed in "dedication_by" or "notes" then it will show on page. If reference is placed in "dedication_link" it will not show in page. This is applicable to announced by, groundbreaking_by,... There has never been a site_announcement_link parameter. When the temples page went to the new format, any "link" parameter became defunct.
The "link" parameter did not provide any citation info other than the link itself with no option to provide it. I guess the link function can be revived if it allows the citation template to be used. Thanks - Dmm1169 (talk) 04:35, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
@Dmm1169, as you might have noticed, I went ahead and did my best to get the templates updated appropriately. I see you were able to add geographical coordinates for at least one of the two temples in question. I used the notes section to cite the site announcement. I can continue to do so, as that's actually easier than adding extra fields to the template. And if those fields are defunct anyway, listing the information in the notes is something I can handle no problem. I will probably still leave it to you to add the geographic coordinates when you can, as there is no rush to get that information added. Hope all is going well with your new job and calling. Jgstokes, I haven't added the coordinates yet for either temple. Hopefully next week I'll have the time to add these coordinates/update new stakes Dmm1169 (talk) 05:09, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
No worries, and again, no rush. Thanks. User:Jgstokes (talk)—We can disagree without becoming disagreeable. 05:20, 30 November 2023 (UTC)
