Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Rosa Ponselle BOC.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 12:39, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:John adams composer.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:John adams composer.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:15, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Baltimore Lyric Opera House.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Baltimore Lyric Opera House.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 15:05, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

National Transitional Council[edit]

Please obtain consensus before performing a controversial move to the National Transitional Council again. As you can see from the history, this has been undone before, and you can't move it unilaterally without first establishing a consensus to do so. かんぱい! If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Atumpan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://music.africamuseum.be/instruments/english/ghana/ashanti/atumpan.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Atumpan cleanup - done[edit]

Hello Dkusic1, unfortunately the added content seemed to be a copyright violation and had to be deleted. A new article could be created at Atumpan (drum), if you want. Per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC and a quick Google search neither topic is primary, so I left the disambiguation at Atumpan pointing to both articles with parentheses ("singer" and "drum"). I also fixed several "old" links from other Wiki-articles pointing to the wrong version of "Alumpan" article. Regards. GermanJoe (talk) 13:20, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

About the Sad and Unprofessional Cleanup of Atumpan[edit]

Hello GermanJoe talk. I will try to create a new article but am surprised and displeased with your too hastily made action and the lack of knowedge about the atumpan. Atumpan is a cultural symbol of the Ashanti people from Ghana, who are a subgroup of the Akan people, and the drum has been around probably for many centuries, while the singer called "Atumpan" has been born in 1983. So any talk about the primacy of the topic is displaced and ignorant. If you can't find information about this, please check Mantle Hood's video and read articles in the Encyclopaedia Britanica or other respected publications.

And a little suggestion for the Wikipedia "moral / copyright driven" policemen, like GermanJoe: your speedy deletion of the article made more harm than benefit to the cause of Wikipedia - the article was a stub and it could have been easily edited, but you just trashed it - what a shame and what an ignorant move. Take notice! Dkusic1 (talk) 18:37, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Using copyrighted material in Wikipedia is an absolute no-go. Next time you'll do it, you will most likely get banned. That's really all that is to say about this point. And WP:PRIMARYTOPIC is the standard accepted way to find the best handling for ambiguous titles, not your or my belief about a topic's importance. Considering your response, I am off here and will not continue this probably fruitless conversation. (de-watchlisted) GermanJoe (talk) 18:57, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I understand the copyright issues and that's not something that I am trying to dispute! What I am disputing is your approach, un-professionalism and hastiness in making decisions and your unwillingness to take a careful look at the article I created. If was done according to the standards and it was a basic stub that I wanted to work on. So, since you are threatening me to "turn me off", here is my question: who do I contact to dispute your "geeky" and unprofessional approach to editing? My intention is not to offend you but rather to bring your unbridled behavior to the attention of others. You need to be in check and under control so that the balance of Wikipedia is insured. Who do I contact and how to complain about you? Thank you. Dkusic1 (talk) 19:04, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Hi, I've removed the extra link you added to Atumpan, as there is only supposed to be one blue link per disambiguation entry (as described at WP:DISAMBIG). The Ghana article mentions the drum, but there's no mention of it at Ashanti people, and so Ghana is the appropriate one to link. Also, the Ghana article calls it an Akan drum, not Ashanti, and the disambig entry needs to be consistent with the target article, so I've changed it back to say Akan people. If you can find a reliable source that says it's specifically Ashanti then you can update the Ghana article with it and also the disambig entry. Squinge (talk) 19:15, 19 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
