Merging multiple articles into one[edit]

I had to do some cleaning up after your merge activities at By-elections to the 39th Canadian Parliament and By-elections to the 40th Canadian Parliament, and I thought it might help to outline the extra steps you'll need to perform if this situation comes up again:

  • Follow the general instructions at Help:Full-content paste merger, step 3 in particular. This implies copying only one year at a time, so there is an appropriate edit summary for each merge.
  • Demote all the headings in the copied content on the destination page, so the individual elections are sub-sections of the year. To demote a heading, add an additional equals sign to the start and end of the heading (e.g. ==Outremont== becomes ===Outremont===).
  • Consider copying any talk page headers from the original articles' talk pages to the new article's talk page (e.g. {{WikiProject Canada }}).
  • Add the appropriate {{Copied }} template to the source and destination talk pages. This creates a message box to tell readers how to discover the attribution for all the content that has been merged.
  • In the redirect on the source article page, link to the destination page's year section (e.g. from Canadian federal by-elections, 2008 to By-elections to the 39th Canadian Parliament#2008).

A tag has been placed on Andy Lehrer, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. —innotata 03:22, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
