Thoracic aorta injury

- Aw, busted: that's been on my to do list for like a year and a half. The thing that's been stalling me is I gotta figure out exactly what the connection is between that and traumatic aortic rupture; is the latter a subset of the former? But yeah, if you want to figure out the relationship and create it, go wild! (Also, there's thoracic aortic rupture). The review looks great, free full text and everything. - No problem :) Traumatic aortic rupture is a subset of thoracic aorta injury. The aorta can be injured by other mechanisms as discussed in the article. It might be worth merging the two articles eventually. Epidural haematoma
Thanks for reminding me about Image:Epidural hematoma.png. Remember the case vividly. Wasn't actually traumatic, which was the weirdest thing. I do indeed hold the copyright; the image is anonymised so there are no privacy concerns.

I believe you locked my page.
I realise there was information that was not in English and I will remove that. However the quotes you refer to are not exactly quotes but the nicknames of the players in the team. I fail to see what gives you gentleman the authority to tell our team that our nicknames are inappropriate. We have had this webpage for ages now and nobody has updated it to include our team roster. The team finally decided to take action and uploaded the team roster. If you want us to link it to a reference sourse then I will do so with ourwebsite www.carnegiemellonrugby.com. The website is partly done and will be finished soon.
I would appreciate it if you unlocked this page so Carnegie Mellon Rugby can edit this page as to our own requirements - rather than those of Wikipedia administrators that - although they have good intentions - know absolutely nothing about or team and team culture.

- There's a bunch of templates that use the navbox collapsible thing. Probably the easiest would be {{hide}}. You can set the background color with |bg1= set the header with |header= and set the formats (borders etc) with |contentcss= |headercss= and then what you want to go in the box with |content=. so for example, {{Hidden|titlestyle = background-color: pink; color:blue; ;|contentstyle = border:1px red solid; ;|header=Whatever you do, don't press show|content=Gah! You pressed it! }} will give you:

hello again. been a while. i've been very busy with non wikipedia stuff, you know - life? anyway aconflict has arisen over the titled article. 2 guys who claim no medical expertise want to include a paragraph on 'non-medicinal treatments' i have explained to one of them that these violate wp: not a manual. they either disagree or just don't care. on top of everything else,the rx it speaks of sounds like a generally bad idea, although it claims a microbiological basis. in any event, wp shouldn't be advising kids to burn their skin lesions with a heated pin! please take a look. i undid it again just now, so you may have to look in the history. pax vobiscum. - Good to hear from you again! Yep, it's unfortunate that reverting is going on, but hopefully that'll cool down. It'd be great if you and the other two people could begin a discussion on it, I don't see anything on the article's talk page. Have you tried contacting them? I'm leaving them notes to see my response here.
- I agree that the material that sounds like it's giving medical advice should go, as should the unreferenced material. In addition to not being a how to manual, WP doesn't give medical advice. (WP:MEDMOS has guidance on how to write medical articles). However, there's nothing wrong with the article describing treatments used by medical practitioners--in fact it's important content--it just needs to be cited to a reliable source, preferably a textbook or review article. Also, I would have kept the cited info about where in the skin the virus is (possibly move it) if the citation checks out. - Um, but that section is completely unreferenced except for the first sentence. How about you re-remove the unreferenced material until reliable sources can be found for it? No need for explanations
You did not have any need to give me your note. I knew that FAC was not very close. However I intend to take it with you to FAC, but I do not know when. In the Alzheimer's disease I was working for a year before I took it to FAC... so we have plenty of time. I like to center in only an article or two at a time until they become the best of wikipedia. When I heard of your article I felt this could become my new project for FAC since at that moment I was not very sure of what to write about. However from now on, with the new year, I am going to change how I edit this article. Instead of continuing a Peer-review I will edit myself some of the remaining sections and ask for your help in those cases when I am not to sure how to do it. I feel that way the article will advance faster toward our aim. I really have fun doing this kind of improvements in important articles which do not have edit-wars, neither there was a need from you to say that you would pay back my help; nevertheless now I know when I can ask for help if needed. Cite.php and cite journal
A question! Using this reference style, you basically have to put the full reference inline at the point of first usage, as unlike cite book there is no 'ref' parameter. Do I understand this right, or did I miss something? I seem to be able to put cite book references at the bottom of an article, but not cite journal. Cheers, Basie (talk) 07:14, 8 January 2009 (UTC)
- I think the convention is that since journal articles are usually short, it's not necessary to put the exact page number of the fact you're quoting from; you just cite the entire page range for the whole article. That way, if you cite a journal article more than once, you just use the same citation again and again (the reason for the ref parameter in cite book is that books do require the exact page number, so if you're using more than one page from the same book, and you don't want to cite the whole thing again and again in the refs section, you can just say "Fowler (1999), p.222" or something in the references, with a link to the whole reference in the texts cited section). Pardon me if I'm explaining something you already know! The way to cite the same journal article again is to give it a name once with the whole citation <ref name="yourmom">Your Mom (1999)...</ref> and then in subsequent uses of the same citation to reference it like this: "Blah de blah.<ref name="yourmom"/> Blah blah." I hope I've actaully answered your question rather than some unrelated question! Definitely let me know if I can clarify that or help with anything else. - That's... sort of what I was asking! Essentially I was frustrated with having the entire reference typed out in the body of the article rather than at the end as you can do with cite book. Edit pediatric intensive care unit for an example of what I'm grappling with. It's only because I'm fussy, I was just hoping I could put all the templates at the end and just use <ref name="blah" /> in the body of the article, but it seems with cite journal you must put the entire template at the first <ref> tag. - Oh yeah, I've always found that annoying, that the citations have to be in the body. Makes each one difficult to find and clutters up the edit window. It'd be much better if there were a section at the bottom, the way there is for interwiki links or categories, that doesn't show up in the article but that contains all the refs. Oh well. In fact, you can't put the book or the journal references at the bottom; the "texts cited" section is only for books that you use more than one page number from. - Oh, so it's like my hand waving the handkerchief thingy _/~ . I get it now, thanks for the nice gesture.
- So the thingy in November went pretty spectacular, as long as we don't count the fact that the bride found out 30 minutes before the wedding that she gets sea sick. Luckily, the ship captain keeps a bucket in the wedding chappel, presumably for exactly this type of occasion.
- I thought of you last week; the wife was watching Wife Swap (in case you're wondering, she always watches it, we're not thinking about trading each other in just yet) and they had a freegan family trade places with some well-to-do executives or whatnot. I was thinking "hey, that could be Dell faking a British accent and riding around in her vegetable oil-powered RV". Then I thought that I should remind myself to ask you how the van conversion is coming along; so now I'm having amnesia and deja-vu at the same time -- I remember that I forgot asking you about it. Just to say...
Hi Dell, just popping in to let you know I am still around. :) It's been awhile since I popped in to say hello so I thought it was time. I am doing my own thing here and learning something daily which is a good thing I think. My medical has caused me some problems lately with me being less active here, you can see on my user page, but overall the project is still good for brain stell stimulations and fun. Hi, just thought I'd say, can't see the original article so don't what it said but Xose is a real and notable person. He's a Galecian folk musician who's reasonably well known (just google him), so the article ought to be valid. Cheers anyway.
- Hey, sorry for the late reply. I basically deleted this because it didn't explain why he's notable. The article's allowed to exist, it would just have to explain why it's notable. If you'd like to expand on what was there to give it a reason why he meets the notability criteria for music I'm happy to undelete it (there wasn't that much there though, just a sentence). Article on Spitoons
Hi Delldot. I'm the fellow who tried to add a couple of sentences to the article on spittoons on Aug. 24 and inadvertently deleted part of the article. Thanks for your kind note of Sept. 5. I did observe in looking at the spitoon article that my short addition (with documentation) about the spitoon collection at Duke Homestead State Historic Site has been deleted. Is there something wrong with adding that information? It's a free admission state museum, and anyone interested in spitoons would benefit from visiting it. I made another contribution to Wikimedia Foundation at the end of last year and use Wikipedia often. But I'm starting to wonder whether about the arbitrariness of whoever deleted my humble contribution, which I think is completely relevant to the subject of the article. If the rules are strict and arcane, I'm not sure the original intent of picking the world's brains will be fulfilled.

- Hi Bob, glad to hear back from you! I couldn't see anything wrong with your edit, I think that everyone else had just forgotten to reinstate it. I don't know why I didn't reinsate it at the time, but I did just now. Did you try to re-add it yourself? I didn't see it in the article's history if you did. My advice is to be bold, and if anyone gives you trouble (which I kind of doubt), don't be shy about just asking them the way you did with me (you can find them in the artice history). I can also help with this if you'd ever like me to talk to someone about something like this. I agree really strongly with your point that WP shouldn't be strict and inaccessible. I think this case isn't representative though, I bet it was just an error that got overlooked. So I definitely encourage you to contribute more and let me know what your opinions are! Hi, on Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion#Template:Sourcebible you have closed it as delete based on a single comment, but {{Sourcebible}} has not been deleted (yet?). I urge you to reconsider this, as I dont think it is a POV to choose to link to a sister project rather than another website that might host the same content. (Surely, it should be encouraged rather than discouraged?) Note that Wikisource links to other editions of the same chapter, and the {{sourcebible}} template can be expanded to allow for other editions to be selected. If you do believe it needs to be deleted, the current invocations need to be updated to use {{bibleverse}} which has a different calling convention which is unsuitable for linking to Wikisource (at present; maybe I can fix that). - Hm, I did delete it on the "looks like there are no objections" grounds, so I don't mind undoing the close and relisting if that's what you want. Would you be interested in volunteering some time and expertise to help the Wikimedia Foundation in a collaboration with the National Institutes of Health? Hi Delldot, I noticed this TFD back in September. However, at that time, my hands were tied. If I was present at the time, I'd have argued that while, yes, the template can be replaced with {{Infobox character}}, Infobox character is complicated, and hard to use, while {{Infobox 24 Character}} is simple, and easy to use. I think this means the template is useful, and useful enough to have it undeleted. I'd have taken it to DRV, but as there was only one person (besides the nominator) supporting deletion, I thought I'd ask you directly. I'm happy to convert the infoboxes back, you don't have to worry about that. What are your thoughts? Steve Crossin Talk/24 08:22, 29 March 2009 (UTC)
- I think it was a pretty clear-cut delete. It's in line with a lot of other discussions that have taken place with wikiproject-specific templates (e.g. the 24-specific cleanup templates). I think bringing it to wider discussion will reveal a pretty wide consensus against having project-specific templates of this nature. - OK, I might have gone overboard with the cleanup templates, but the infobox is useful. Look how complicated Infobox character would be for newcomers? Then have a look at the Infobox 24 Character template. Isn't convenience of use a reason for keeping the template? - Yeah, it wouldn't get overturned at DRV. I think the way to go about recreating something that was deleted through a discussion is to bring it back up as a discussion and see whether consensus has changed in favor of recreating it.
