UK Music Charts template[edit]

Hi David.
I'm a little uncomfortable with some of the recent changes to the UK Music Charts template. Certain relevant links have now been completely removed (e.g. List of UK hit singles by footballers, List of UK Singles Chart Christmas number twos and UK Classical Charts), and some of the charts listed in the "Music Genre Charts" group aren't really "genre" charts at all (e.g. UK Official Download Chart, Official Streaming Chart and UK Compilation Chart).
Other links are rather misrepresentative (e.g. the Official Record Store Chart monitors sales of CDs as well as vinyl, so to list it as a "Vinyl" chart is rather misleading). I'm also not sure why so many links have been de-italicised – per Wikipedia's Manual of Style, titles of newspapers, magazines and radio series are listed in italics, both in articles and in associated navboxes.
If you feel that the navbox, in its original form, was too unclear or busy, then I'd be happy to see if we can work out a compromise that would satisfy both of us. Thanks very much. A Thousand Doors (talk | contribs) 16:00, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your message. Sorry that you weren't happy with some of my edits-
With regards to the 'vinyl' chart and de-italicising, these were simple mistakes/misunderstandings on my behalf and I will revert these back. Thanks for pointing them out, I've since reverted them.
Other than that, I simply felt the template as a whole was over-crowded and not laid out in a way that best presented the information at hand. The majority of past edits had been additions, without any re-positioning. I think the new layout better clarifies this information and allows people to find what they are looking for in an easier fashion - I hope you agree?
As for the removal of specific links, I think the navbox should exist as a brief overview rather than an in-depth list of everything relevant to UK Music- it is meant to be for charts, after all. Pages like the List of UK hit singles by footballers and List of UK Singles Chart Christmas number twos bear little significant relevance and (I believe, at least) should link on from other pages, rather than being listed in this specific navbox. I removed a lot of the Download chart articles as they were overly-specific as well, I thought maybe a separate navbox for the download chart articles would better suffice instead?
Finally, the title "music genre charts" was taken directly from the Official Charts website [1] and although I agree certain things need moving around, I think as a title it summarises the section well.
Thanks for your feedback and let me know what you think. All the best davidmichaelscott (talk) 20:17, 2 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's certainly an improvement, but I still feel that it is a little incongruous to have charts like the download, streaming, subscription plays and record store ones in the Genres section, as they are not charts that are tied down to a specific genre. I would prefer to see a layout like this – please do let me know what your thoughts are. Thanks. A Thousand Doors (talk | contribs) 03:05, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I'm more than happy with that, I think it summarises the information a lot more sufficiently than previously. Thanks for your help on the matter. davidmichaelscott (talk) 14:45, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Disambiguation link notification for February 20[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited XO (song), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Crazy in Love (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
