Eurogliders

What can you tell me about 1981 album, West by various artists, with a track "Should Have Been There" by Eurogliders? Also see ARDb. APRA search gives six song titles with two tagged: one by Troy Cassar Daley and one by Grant Nelson. The album was released by 96FM.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 08:36, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

To atone for your embarrassment, you'll have to find out more about it. Try Music Australia for a start. Also, when in 1981 was it recorded/released? Presumably this becomes their first recording? Only Perth recording? We need a band line-up. Relevant details should be in the article. If its a precursor to "Heaven" that needs to be nailed tight.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:24, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

SC

Apparently notes can be added. However, I'm still sorting out the albums per single: especially the early ones. As for the table itself, see here for ideas on this 'plate. Created and developed by Ikara (talk | contribs). I'm still fiddling with the SC version(s): current maximum for this 'plate is 20 singles – should I split into 1980s and 1990s?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 07:54, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

Seems you're right, catalogue nos and labels are not easy to add to the table.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 09:37, 2 July 2009 (UTC)

TWd

The Waifs discography at Dan's sandobox has had its wikitables worked over. Your turn:

  1. Check need for Kent.
  2. Put in AIR peaks.

Answer these:

  1. Where's the EPs? According to the articles there's three of them, I saw two hidden as singles in the singles table. In any case, there's no EP table.
  2. How many singles did they release? May be related to previous. In any case, the totals don't match.

Have fun.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 23:29, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

Monique Brumby

Yeah, would have plopped Monique Brumby onto mainspace yesterday afternoon but "transient conditions on the server do not allow your request to be processed" (technospeak = internet has crapped out) Will try to plop it on later today—too busy right now (still have to upload a Flickr pic).

Will meet you over at Mentals after—have you got its McF yet?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 22:02, 16 July 2009 (UTC)

As you can see its now on mainspace. Thanks for all your help on it.Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 22:27, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Keep an eye on it: wikipedia is having problems with image storage—don't know how long it'll continue.
Also I'm thinking about writing a Did You Know for the article: any suggestions?Shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 02:23, 17 July 2009 (UTC)

Singles tables

I'm going to use the Stephen Cummings tables to enter the Mentals tables at my sandbox copy but noticed the existing table has columns for NZ and US but no charting positions for singles. Noted your request(s) at AusCharts for KMR, singles were already posted in an earlier thread: I've got them and will check against article's info. Fair use rationale for File:Exploding Panda.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Exploding Panda.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. I've gone through main text through to half of Living it up sectn, although I skipped Style sectn: I'm not much chop on analysing their music/performance/artworks: can you find any refs for claims made about their pioneering in visual/video/humour? Also need some certs for gold/plat albs. Did they have more than 2 EPs? Hi, I saw your note on Jennavecia's talk page after I'd restored the deleted Dog Trumpet article as the band is pretty well-known in Australia (however, as you can see from the page history notability wasn't exactly evident). I don't think it should have been unilaterally speedy deleted without discussion or even speedy tagging as it's clearly not some unknown garage band. I had a go at rewriting and adding some references, but it pales in comparison to the outstanding rewrite in your userspace! Hope to see your version in the mainspace soon. --Canley (talk) 10:04, 21 August 2009 (UTC)

Artshub resume?

hi. on models(band) you listed a resume from artshub. Mind if i ask how you got it? Beat me to it

Nice work on the Jimmy Melbourne article... whilst I first heard about him when the NAIDOC games started, I only saw the story in the West today so was going to write it up tonight. You saved me a few hours work! I'll try to find some more original references from the NLA website over the next few weeks to expand on what Ray Wilson and Steve Errington have found out. Gave the DYK a tweak too, still might need another go. Cheers, The-Pope (talk) 15:55, 7 September 2009 (UTC)

Ganggajang

Thanks for your note. Unfortunately I was about to start correcting the capitalisation of the band's name when something came up, so only got as far as moving the main page. If you take a look at WP:MOSTM and WP:NC, you will see that we do not follow non-standard capitalisation. Instead, standard English capitalisation is used throughout Wikipedia. Thus, GANGgajang is correctly styled as Ganggajang. Cheers, Nouse4aname (talk) 08:02, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

This was news to me. I started drafting a reply to support the original version, but halfway through read this naming convention that I was unaware of, Invader Zim being the cited example. I don't like it or see the point, but there you go. –Moondyne 09:06, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

I'm getting older by the minute but don't believe I'm much wiser... I've read the guidelines and sections indicated. See also cLOUDHEAD discussion by User:Peace and Passion and the replies at User talk:Peace and Passion#WP:MOSTM talkpage by User:Nouse4aname. Even though GANGgajang's own website states " The name "GANGgajang" comes from the idea of the band being a collective of creative individuals, a..."GANG" and the sound of a guitar being strummed -"gajang"". According to Nouse4aname a band's website is not a reliable (independent) source and so this could not be used to explain the naming convention. I was going to appeal to authority (ie McFarlane) but where's the ref? Another possibility is to consider CamelCase and render it as GangGajang but that seems to be original research... It's likely that its going to stay as Ganggajang.shaidar cuebiyar ( talk | contribs ) 09:44, 8 September 2009 (UTC)

Found McFarlane entry, it may help with article explaining band name styling but not with naming convention of wiki-articles.shaidar cuebiyar ( talk | contribs ) 09:54, 8 September 2009 (UTC)
Is there nothing more bizarre in all the world than allowing Wikipedia policy to override the band itself when determining what the band's name actually is? The real world exists regardless of whether Wikipedia policy permits it, and in this real world, the band's name is "GANGgajang". Policy wonkery gone mad. Not sure what you can do about though... Music Page - Phatchance

Hi Dan, I am still new to Wikipedia, thanks a lot for helping make that page float for me, you did a much better job than I did and you sourced a heap of information I couldn't find for the bio and discography, I'm still learning the ropes with this site, I noticed you'd made a lot of really good contributions for Australian hip hop, I want to start getting involved actively in editing and making articles so maybe we should stay in touch via user talk? I also wanted to ask if you'd like to bow into the discussion on the articles for deletion page for phatchance I think I accidentally stepped on some toes removing a prod notice and it's blown way out of proportion (I honestly didn't really have much of an idea how to fix everything up and thought I did a good enough job) I'm not even sure (given the discussion we're having on that page now) whether I am allowed to ask your opinion on this, but since you've edited the page I figured you might have a view on whether it should stay or go?
