This is a proposed replacement for the baseball scorekeeping article which has been tagged for cleanup since June. Your comments, ideas, or other ways that other scorekeepers might do things are welcome.......

how about some pictures

Looks pretty good from a quick glance but there are no citations at all which goes against WP:V. Is the entire article driven by the two external links at the bottom? —Wknight94 (talk) 02:07, 22 August 2006 (UTC)

The original article has no citations either. Not that that's a great excuse. The vast majority of it is based on my own experiences, other scorekeepers and fans that I know, and dozens of "how to score" pages from game programs. The two links are quite elaborate and should be able to verify all the notations and rulings that I've listed. I might be able to find a few more sites dedicated to scoring if you think it should have more. Can you help me out with the specific claims or "facts" that you think need citations? Numbering the players

In the section "Numbering the players," the table at the left uses the abbreviations 1B, 2B and 3B for the infielders, while the diagram at right has 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd. Personally, I prefer the abbreviations used in the table, as that is what most people (at least people who follow baseball) are familiar with. However, in any event, they should be consistent.

Suggestions

I think there should be a "History" section, which gives a somewhat in-depth origin and background on scorekeeping. I'll try to find that book at the library again and see what it has. The other big thing that should be "altered" if you will, trhoughout the article, is that this is not a "How to". Giving some description on how keeping score works is fine, but we should be careful as not to go overboard with it. I'll read some more tomorrow and see what else I can come up with, it is definately a very solid base to go from. If you want to attract others to help, you might want to leave a messege on the WP: Baseball discussion page, and noting that it is rated as an article of "high" importance couldn't hurt.
