Hi Cyrus, I saw you nominating Zylog Systems Limited to be deleted. How do I list my company as an informative one to Wikipedia users? john_zsl

SD Nomination of Compete, Inc

I honestly have no memory of adding that tag, although I see I added it when the article was just an infobox. It irritates me somewhat when people submit articles that are that incomplete. However, I can see that the company is very notable, with an interesting history, now. Thanks for removing it, I know I sometimes get a little trigger happy with the tags. Can you just delete me? every article i make gets deleted, what's the point of having an account if you can't make anything?Murkrow 12:30, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Remember that any article you create must meet the notability requirements. While Wikipedia is an encyclopedia that anyone can edit, it has rules and standards. Not everything is going to have its own article. Try not to take it too hard. After all, Wikipedia doesn't really matter that much. --Cyrus Andiron t/c 16:54, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Edits to Thomas Carr College page

" Please do not add content without citing reliable sources. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Cyrus Andiron 15:19, 15 February 2007 (UTC)"

you sent me this generic warning concerning the thomas carr college page. i would like to add that you are not welcome. i do not wish to experiment, but merely add to the 'encyclopedia that any body can edit'. i edited the thomas carr college page, because i used to attend it. if you check the discussion page you will see that there are sources listed so back off. 60.240.104.109

I checked the discussion page before I reverted. Luckyherb told you that any references to the $5 hand jobs or the suicide needed to be referenced before they could be included in the article as per WP:CITE. As those citations were not in the article, I reverted the changes. That is considered adding unsourced material. As for the warning, it comes directly from WP:UTM. It is a first level warning. Additionally, controversial edits such as the one you made are more likely to be reverted when they are done by an anonymous user. Cyrus Andiron 03:38, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Ive been trying to figure out for a couple days now what to do about User:Qtangel7772 page. I finally found WK:NOT which says not to do that but you beat me to placing a warning on there. Where did you find that warning template? Thanks again. --Xiahou 01:44, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

quick note should all that stuff on there be deleted?--Xiahou 01:45, 21 February 2007 (UTC)
I see you got it :-) See you around --Xiahou 00:00, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

Sorry

You and other Wikipedians have been sending warnings to my school's adress. I officially apologise for any idiocy my classmates may have commited. Ryan shell 19:30, 21 February 2007 (UTC)

Your userpage is in Category:User templates or a related category. Please take it out of this category or find the userbox that puts your userpage in this category. If you know how to then <noinclude></noinclude> the category in the userbox and message me afterwards so that we can see the effect on the purged category. -PatPeter 04:50, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

I fixed that like a month ago my friend. If I remember what userbox it was I can tell you later. -PatPeter 14:23, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

Hey

Hey Cyrus, how's it going?--CombatRock 09:04, 30 March 2007 (UTC)

No it was just a salutation :) But I need some help. I know how to centre images but I don't know how to centre text. If you could tell me I would be grateful.--CombatRock 15:03, 8 April 2007 (UTC)
Got it sorted --CombatRock 17:41, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

No need to repeat yourself

Hey, saying something once is enough particually if they've already commented to your remarks (which means they've obviously seen what you said). There's no need to repeat it again. -- Thewinchester (talk) 14:34, 10 April 2007 (UTC)

I think the point well worth repeating, when it seems to be ignored. What's been going on with this ultra-speedy stuff? PuzzledDGG 04:59, 11 April 2007 (UTC).

AfD

I'm not - or at least, not deliberately. I simply clicked on the edit button beside the top link to the article. Haven't a clue what might have gone wrong. Michael Sanders 01:12, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

If it's any help, I found your signature written in the top line earlier (which screwed up edit summaries then). I removed it, but it could be more of the same... Michael Sanders 01:18, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

sigs

sorry, didn't do it on purpose, will have a look Sandpiper 01:15, 12 April 2007 (UTC) Dont know, seems to be the answer. I notice a michaelsanders edit has come out the same way. I did not type that into the description box. Sandpiper 01:18, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Don't understand what is going on, but I notice that in this edit[1], you inserted your username into the debate title somehow Sandpiper 01:30, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

Yes, thinks do get a little unstable here sometimes. I dont know what happened, but I did notice that michael and I are logged as responding at the same time. Surprising it wasnt an edit conflict. Sandpiper 01:38, 12 April 2007 (UTC)

International Services Trade Information Agency

Hi - I saw your most recent post on the AFD about this article and I just wanted to clarify something. Earlier in the debate, you rightly pulled me up about my remark Let's be blunt - when the ED of an organisation has time to mess around with it's wikipedia entry...well..., but I just wanted you to know that I wasn't making an attack on the person (and I can see how it came across like that) but the position.

In my experience (I was a management consultant), the executive directors of "international" organisations generally don't have the time to a) run multiple sock accounts and b) spend a solid six hours arguing about their entry on wikipedia (which we all agree is no big thing). That suggests to me that someone needs the publicity/promotion or more importantly, they have been tasked to get an article included on wikipedia. I'll try and be a bit clearer in what I say in future. --Fredrick day 13:32, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Fredrick: "they have been tasked to get an article included on wikipedia" What makes you believe that? Is it more than a feeling? I am still trying to figure out who gains what from the sole existance of the article and its content in its past form [2]. That's why am I pushing that aspect in the discussion. --roy<sac> Talk! .oOo. 13:41, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

XXXXX AfD

I just wanted to point you to my comment at the talk page of the wikipedian User_talk:Fredrick_day to explain why I jumped in to defend the article. The comments do not belong into the AfD, but are relevant IMO. Cheers --roy<sac> Talk! .oOo. 13:36, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

List of McDonald's locations

I've responded to your "List of McDonald's locations" comment on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Parisian locations. You may want to reply to it on that page, because to me it's clear that one could exist if somebody just makes it. WP:ORG says the following:

In a few rare cases, an individual location will also have architectural peculiarities that makes it unique and notable, such as the Winston-Salem Shell gas station or the Vinita, Oklahoma McDonald's; however, a "List of Wal-Marts in China" would be informative.

— WP:ORG

As per the last part of that sentence, I see nothing wrong with having a List of McDonald's locations. Tuxide 20:52, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

It says "in China" because I changed it myself. It used to say "List of Wal-Marts in Germany" up until mid-2006, but then Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. moved out of that country. I don't know who wrote the original version of the sentence, but during the time we chose to change it to either China or Canada. Canada and United States didn't sound as foreign as the original example. I am still not seeing how a list of McDonald's locations is a directory when it has the attributes that we're using such as city, state, year opened, year remodeled, year closed, etc. (and lacks the attributes that we're not using, such as street and phone number). Find the Pint AFD

I had already signed off when you left me the message. I logged in this morning to find quite a heated debate. I too had my suspicions of sock puppetry, but never voiced them. Cheers LittleOldMe 08:23, 25 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I sent that message to my friends, who helped with the page, just so they know, is it possible to just delete the links and not the episode guide, as some of the guide has been deleted.

Hi, is it okay, if I go back to the version with the links on, and just delete the links?

Only because, when you undid the version with the links on, it deleted quite alot of the episode guide.

Thanks

Ryan.

Archiving talk pages

For some reason you posted a note on my talk page that I should archive it, and included a link with supposed directions. I followed the directions on the link you posted, and it turned my talk page into a redirect to my archived talk page. Now I have no idea what to do. The reason I don't archive it is there is no place on Wikipedia with straight instructions on how to do it for people who aren't already knowledgable. Please don't include links on my talk page that just make me irritated at the link. KP Botany 02:14, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm sorry, but I was not the person that provided the link on how to archive a talk page [4]. That link was posted by the editor before me, Lahiru k. Also, I think the easiest way to archive a talk page is copy and paste the information onto a new page. If you ever want help on how to archive a talk page this way, I could help you. It's much easier than attempting a page move. I don't think your pages are linked together. If you look on my talk page, you can see an example of the copy and paste method.
My commenmts were made in regards to the AFD nomination of Hans von Boetticher. You can see my comments by clicking on the link that I posted above. --Cyrus Andiron 12:15, 27 April 2007 (UTC)
Wow, your edit did not even appear on my talk page, it simply showed that you had posted the last addition to my page, which was the one that User:Lahiru k posted. I have no idea what was going on with my talk page, now. I will look at your copy and paste method, as I am certain the problems I encountered were due to the attempted move, maybe your message got lost in the move--I have no idea.
Anyway, as to the Hans von Boetticher article. There are also no Wikipedia rules that says if an article has not been edited in X months, it should be nominated for deletion. Also, sources in a language other than English are not a reason to delete an article. I would like nominations for deletion to strictly follow the policy, as they often don't. By raising extraneous issues (no edits for 6 months is not really the issue, the failure to assert notability after being requested could be an issue though, and sources in German is not an issue) you bring up extraneous arguments against deletion. There is a lot of crap on Wikipedia worthy of deletion, but posting AfDs to get an article sourced is not the way to handle it, and giving people extraneous arguments for keeping articles is also not a good way to handle it, and I have seen crap kept because of these extraneous arguments. And frankly, the mailing list has frequent posts that AfD is broken and has run amok due to the rampant postings of deletionists, and I am beginning to agree with these posters. I would like to see AfD focused, articles nominated only for valid reasons, or the reasons changed if you disagree with them, discussions raised about these valid reasons, extraneous reasons and arguments eliminated, other problems with articles posted at their proper places. For biological articles you can always post at WP:Tree of Life. And, if you disagree with what I post in a discussion at an AfD, let's stick with AfD for raising the issue, so that other editors can weigh in. As to being condescending, that was not my intention, but there seems to be no way to disagree with anyone on Wikipedia without getting this accusation in response, so I won't deal with it.
