I don't know how to mark pages as needing proper citations, but I hope you will know how to mark it or correct it. Anyway, I noticed on the page you created on Abd al-Salam Faraj the citations are not formatted properly. By just providing an author, I wouldn't be able to go find the book or source from which you got the information

Thanks for pointing that out. I haven't finished writing that page yet, so I will get round to sorting out the references. --Copper button 20:36, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Al-Shabaab[edit]

Hey Copper. Another account has finally weighed in on the Rfc; he seems to be in favor of your draft edit. I will of course defer to whatever version is selected. However, I just noticed what appears to be a minor factual error in your draft that I was hoping you could perhaps fix. You indicate that "Somaliland media reported that Atom's representative requested military assistance from Somaliland in January, while denying that he was linked to al-Shabaab". However, the cited source [1] indicates that it is actually Atom's representative himself rather than the Hargesia-based Haatuf newspaper that denies links between Atom's militia and Al-Shabaab: "Farah Ismail Sardheye, who identified himself as the spokesman for Mohamed Said Atom, told Haatuf newspaper that Atom's group has "no connections" with Al Shabaab.". It would also be sort of strange for a Somaliland paper to deny Atom's ties with Shabaab since, per that link, Somaliland's Interior Minister has explicitly described Atom as a "terrorist". Let me know what you think. Regards, Middayexpress (talk) 16:15, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your message and sorry for a delayed reply - I haven't had much time for Wikipedia this week. I agree with your interpretation of the source but I can see how my wording was unclear. Is the following unambiguous? "Somaliland media reported in January that Atom's representative both requested military assistance from Somaliland and denied that he was linked to al-Shabaab." --Copper button 19:21, 2 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, that looks much better. It would perhaps be better to also change "denied that he was linked to al-Shabaab" to "denied that Atom's group was linked to al-Shabaab" just so it's clear that we are talking about Atom's militia and not just the representative.
