Speedy deletion nomination of Tratos[edit]

A tag has been placed on Tratos requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for organizations and companies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 10:09, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tag removal[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you.— RHaworth (talk · contribs) 11:26, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, but a recent edit of yours to the article Tratos has an edit summary that appears to be inaccurate or inappropriate. Please use edit summaries that accurately tell other editors what you did, and feel free to use the sandbox for any tests you may want to do. "Reformatted into wikipedia standards" did not suggest that the edit removed a speedy deletion tag. JamesBWatson (talk) 12:41, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Tratos Page Removal[edit]

I have reloaded the Tratos page as I feel the content meets the criteria, The Tratos group of companies are of great significance within the cable industry. If you can give me guidelines on how I can meet standards I will be happy to change the content to suit. I apologise for my errors in removing the speedy delete tag last time, I assure you that was down to inexperience, it was not intentional. Thanks for your help. Copmeister (talk) 13:31, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

  • You have simply re-loaded the same text with no attempt made to demonstrate the company's notability. Create a text which actually contains links to independent reliable sources and raise the matter at deletion review. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:43, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

With respect, I told you I had reloaded the text. I feel that the companies notability is inherent in the text and company information. For example, what is the notability of a company such as these B3 Cable Solutions. I fail to see the differences. But as I stated earlier, I am inexperienced and was hoping for some help as to why one page appears to meet criteria and another does not?

  • Did the words above: "links to independant reliable sources" possibly suggest anything to you? And the OSE argument cuts no ice - B3 Cable Solutions is just as bad as your article. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 13:55, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]
The article does not give any sources to either confirm the statements made in the article or to indicate notability. An article must be about a subject which satisfies Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Essentially this means that there must be references to independent reliable sources giving substantial coverage of the subject. For more details you should look at the general notability guideline and the guidelines on notability of companies and reliable sources. Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations is also relevant. I accept that removing the speedy delete was not intended to be disruptive, and letting you know about it was meant to be helpful. If I thought it was intended to be disruptive I might have given you a much more strongly worded warning. At present the article could still be deleted for the same reasons as before, but I will leave it so you can have a chance to add references to suitable sources. • Actually James, I have deleted and salted. But User:Copmeister/Tratos is available to improve and take to DRV. Biting? I just don't like to ignored. Copmeister clearly demonstrated that he had not read the words "links to independant reliable sources". So I think I was justified in coming back more heavily. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 14:10, 8 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback you two. I feel that my inexperience combined with viewing similar Wikipedia pages to the one I was attempting to create has made it look as though I am deliberately trying to break the rules, this is not the case. I genuinely didn't see any difference in the example I showed you of a page that appears to be valid and the page a created about Tratos. However, as I now understand it, a page like City Links appears similar in notability (size and history of company etc) but there are 5 links in the reference section to independent sources that are classed as reliable? If this is the case, please reinstate the page whilst I search out similar and I will provide them as soon as I can. I am looking for help on this as I feel the information on the company would be very interesting and useful to many people within the industry as well as people who live locally to the various factories.
