January 2011[edit]

I have deleted all of the redirects you created per WP:CSD#R2. Please do not use Wikipedia to advance your SEO activities. Thank you. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:09, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And please stop putting discussions of your name in article space. Acroterion (talk) 23:24, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Colin R. Walcott requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. E. Fokker (talk) 23:29, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Redirects from the article main space to user pages are not allowed. It does not matter that there is a Collin Walcott article. You appear to be not notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia. From the mass number of redirects that you created using SEO terms, it is apparent that you are trying to promote yourself on Wikipedia, which is not allowed. Please stop. Thank you. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 23:35, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

MfD nomination of User:Colinwalcott[edit]

User:Colinwalcott, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Colinwalcott and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Colinwalcott during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Acroterion (talk) 23:29, 12 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is your only warning; if you use Wikipedia for soapboxing, promotion or advertising again, you may be blocked from editing without further notice.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:41, 12 January 2011 (UTC) Thank you Ronhjones. I am new to the system with posting "anything" but got a whipping from others. I am content with the original page with the suggested edits. Thanks again colin walcott--Colin Walcott 16:10, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop pasting the same message into talk page of all of the deleted redirects. Now that you made your concern clearly, I can answer you more specifically. The reason why Colin Walcott redirects to Collin Walcott and not you is because Collin Walcott is notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia. The redirect is appropriate because there is no Colin Walcott that is notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia. You do not appear to be notable enough for inclusion on Wikipedia like I said in my previous message to you. You trying to put a long list of alternative spellings and such to redirect to your user page is not appropriate unless you can establish that you are indeed notable enough for inclusion. While I understand your desire to not be confused with Collin Walcott, making a bunch of redirects is not the appropriate method to do so. The bottom line, like I said, is that you appear to be not notable enough for a biography on Wikipedia. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 00:17, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Gogo Dodo & sorry for the redundancies; I am new to this content management system, hence the issues. Anything else you see I will follow your advice. Question: what is "vanispamcruftisement"?? Saw it posted in reference to some edits but I never generated that name before. colin walcott--Colin Walcott 16:03, 13 January 2011 (UTC)

I saw you note on my talk page, but I'll reply here to keep it altogether. As Gogo Dodo says, this is not the way to go. In general we never have redirects from the Article Space to the User Space. I can see that you have dived in so fast with edits that no one had got round to adding a welcome template (or even thinks you need one) - a bit late but I will do so, as the links to the policies and guidelines that it contains are very useful for the novice editor. You might note that the word Vanispamcruftisement at seen at Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion/User:Colinwalcott is blue - hence it links to a page about what it stands for. I would suggest you also read the page about creating autobiograqphies.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:36, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
P.S. You are quite welcome to add your comments on the MfD page Wikipedia:Miscellany_for_deletion/User:Colinwalcott  Ronhjones  (Talk) 19:42, 13 January 2011 (UTC)`[reply]
