Clay Clement[edit]

Hi. Please discuss the changes you think need to be made on the article's talkpage. Thanks. Lugnuts Dick Laurent is dead 18:40, 18 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is that there are 4 people with the name Clay Clement who have connections to the theater. Clay Clement Sr, Jr, Clay Clement III, and Clay Geiger Clement all of whom are related by direct descent. Look at IBDB on clay Clement to see the two different elder gentlemen, Clay Clement III was only a child actor in the theater, my father, John Marshall Clement. Clay G Clement is my nephew by my brother and was a film assistant on 1 production. Since they are relative I have done extensive genealogical research and have copies of playbills, birth/death/marriage certificates, census info, plus family history and a history on Archive.org written by my great Aunt. The original problem is that Clay Jr spent most of his life in the theater and only the 30s and a few other years making movies, so he was primarily a stage actor, with a few TV appearances. Then the picture is one of Clay Clement Sr as it matches his physical features from 1885 especially the ears and the broadness of the face. The Cab card has script photographer lable which is post 1880, but not embossed lettering which is pre 1890, so the date is most probably 1885 and the companion card is by the same photographers as another 1885 card.

The article needs to be expanded and I have all the info and old photos which could be posted. I also have copies of a complete family scrapbook on Clay Clement Sr, including many newspaper accounts and a personal letter. I would also like an article on Clay Clement Sr, and Mary Frey (Jr's wife)and also an actress. ClementJ (talk) 19:14, 18 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have added the parents of Clay Clement (Jr.), and also that he was a stage actor. He spent more years as a stage actor than as a film actor. His earliest play is listed in IBDB as 1909, and I am sure he was on stage before then. His filmography continues to grow and may top 100. Matti Marshall has been listed under various names. There is a birth record with the correct parents listing her as Martha, but her marriage license list her as Matti. Various newspaper accounts, playbills, and her adverts list her as Matti, but the Willa Cather journal calls her Madeleine. ClementJ (talk) 19:08, 19 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There is no such place as Greentree, Kentucky. At least I can find no such place: According to two records, his marriage certificate and his draft registration he was born in Lebanon, Ohio. http://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/K6JC-274 http://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.3.1/TH-1951-21943-130934-3?cc=1589502
