Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:20, 23 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Kahk[edit]

On 26 May 2018, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Kahk, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Fatimid Caliphate used messages stamped on kahk, a type of cookie, as propaganda? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Kahk. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Kahk), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Can you give me a hint which RFC?[edit]

And what particular thing caused you to revert my edit out of hand? GliderMaven (talk) 22:45, 8 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This one: RfC on the word "myth" usage with the Genesis flood, as well as the previous section. Your edit seemed to go against WP:NPOV and did not seem relevant to the article; it would have been better suited for the Noah or Genesis flood narrative articles. Sorry for not being more clear earlier; I'm sure that must've been frustrating. Cheers,
--Chumash11 (talk) 17:32, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
No. I'm still utterly baffled by your revert. So far as I can see it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the RFC, my edit doesn't contain, refer to, imply for or go against the word 'myth'. And to write the edit, I simply paraphrased the account in the King James bible, and added the reasons given there for God creating a flood. Exactly which bit of my edit fails NPOV??? GliderMaven (talk) 19:13, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Hurricane Aircat[edit]

Alert[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have recently shown interest in the Arab–Israeli conflict. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Use of About.Me in Khartoum[edit]

Hi Chumash11. I ran across you use of about.me here, and don't understand why you added it. Could you explain? --Ronz (talk) 20:22, 29 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

To be honest with you, I have no recollection of adding that and no idea why I did. Maybe I was auto-filling references with reFill and it put it in? Not sure. If you'd like to delete it, please go right ahead. Should I try to avoid about.me in the future? --Chumash11 (talk) 16:11, 31 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Onel5969: Thank you for reviewing the article. This copyvio issue is a case of the Wikipedia article and the alleged source of the copyright violation copying from the public domain Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships (DANFS) entry for this vessel. Copying from the DANFS seems to be very common practice for writing about US warships on Wikipedia; one can see it on articles for her sister ships here and here for example. In the reference section of the article, I noted that the article incorporates text from the DANFS: "This article incorporates text from the public domain Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships. The entry can be found here." Please let me know if that addresses some of your concerns. Thank you, --Chumash11 (talk)

Hi. Sorry about the confusion. I'm going to ping a couple of admins who specialize in this sort of thing to take a look at it. Hey Diannaa and Justlettersandnumbers, what do you think about this? Onel5969 TT me 23:59, 9 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. The source webpage is here, and the corresponding home page for this Navy website is here. The Mobile Riverine Force Association has no right to assert they own this content; it's public domain material and is okay to copy, if properly attributed, which our article does. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:32, 10 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict...please fill out my survey?[edit]

Hello :) I am writing my MA dissertation on Wikipedia Wars and the Israel-Palestine conflict, and I noticed that you have contributed to those pages. My dissertation will look at the process of collaborative knowledge production on the Israel-Palestine conflict, and the effect it has on bias in the articles. This will involve understanding the profiles and motivations of editors, contention/controversy and dispute resolution in the talk pages, and bias in the final article.

For more information, you can check out my meta-wiki research page or my user page, where I will be posting my findings when I am done.

I would greatly appreciate if you could take 5 minutes to fill out this quick survey before 8 August 2021.

Participation in this survey is entirely voluntary and anonymous. There are no foreseeable risks nor benefits to you associated with this project.

Thanks so much,

Sarah Sanbar
