Image uploads[edit]

Hi Cheller13. I see the images you've uploaded are being removed from Charles Frederick Worth. You've specified that these are copyrighted images of dresses (which is true), but the source of the work is the photograph who took the image, not Worth. We would want to specify them as the source and also explain why we need to use the image when a free alternative could exist--namely, someone could take a photo of the dress and release it under a free license. The good news is that almost all images of the subject should be in the public domain (as he died long before 1923). Worth images[edit]

There are LOTS of vintage/antique two-dimensional images of Worth dresses out there that were published/made before 1922 and will be in public domain. Therefore, you do not need to upload new photographs of these dresses as there is no clear need to do so. Institutions like the Metropolitan Museum of Art are highly unlikely to be happy that their images are being used in this manner. The mounted dress images that are already uploaded have been made available for use by their respective institutions. Please stop violating copyright law with your uploads - they cannot be argued to be "fair use" because of the massive quantity of Worth images from pre-1922 that are out there already just waiting to be used in articles. I know it's frustrating, because we love seeing colour photographs of real, actual dresses, but repeatedly uploading images that you have been told over and over again are not free-use is not helpful.
