I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Mapmechanics for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

I appreciate that this company is not large in numbers, but I will add references showing how mapmechanics is widely quoted in the press for its research and GIS systems expertise. Can you get me a week or two before deleting stuff so that I can get this stuff together please?

Hi Chris,

It looks like someone tagged it before I did and since then, someone else has already gone ahead and deleted the article, which essentially means that they agree with the reason that the article was tagged.

When I look at Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL:

I find just a couple of sources this this custom search, the ones from Parliament seem to be the only reliable sources,
some in HighBeam
some in news that fit the definition of mainstream reliable sources, such at The Guardian, The Times, and the local Lancashire Telegraph (most of the sources though are press releases or from less than reliable mainstream sources.) A lot of these mention Kingswood Mapmechanics. Is that the same thing?

If Kingswood Mapmechanics and Mapmechanics are the same organization, then there may be sufficient sources to meet general notability guidelines or organization notability guidelines. I suggest looking over those guidelines and if you think that the situation fits, then start the article in Draft:Mapmechanics (or use Draft:Kingswood Mapmechanics, if that is more generally used). I just saw that someone mentioned that you use your sandbox. That's a good way to go as well. You may want to replace Daily Mail and the Ordnance Survey (which very much looks like a company-supplied description) with one of the sources identified above to help strengthen your case of coverage by reliable, mainstream sources.—CaroleHenson (talk) 18:12, 3 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, yes, they were originally Kingswood, and then changed name, I am still trying to get dates for that as well as dates of other significant events. I will keep pottering away on the sandbox version for a while, fleshing it out and trying to keep the style and tone in keeping with that of Wikipedia and let you know how I get on.
