Hi, feel free to write to me. I am new (Jan 2008) but learning.

Pukeko[edit]

I see that you have created an article for Pukeko (Porphyrio melanotus), however the article already exists, at Purple Swamphen. A redirect already exists for people searching for the bird using the New Zealand name for the species, and there shouldn't be a duplicate article, especially one that is a near orphan. I am proposing turning Pukeko (Porphyrio melanotus) into a redirect for the main article since we don't have duplicate articles, and Purple Swamphen is the internationally established name for the species. I suggest editing Purple Swamphen in future. Sabine's Sunbird talk 03:35, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pukeko responce I think it deserves its own page named with its full scientific name. I realise now it is actually a subspecies. I intend to write much more in the near future. Carpenter0 (talk) 12:53, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted your edits to the above talk page. You should not delete old discussions on talk pages, even if they are your own comments, otherwise it makes it difficult to follow old conversations. Sabine's Sunbird talk 23:57, 16 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Steatoda capensis[edit]

A tag has been placed on Steatoda capensis requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you.

Photo uploads[edit]

Hello Carpenter0 - thank you for uploading your nice pictures to Wikipedia. Can we ask you to instead upload them to Commons instead? Commons is the recommended repository for all free non-text content of Wikipedia. There, the images can also be sorted better. So it would be great if you could consider uploading there from now on. Any questions, please don't hesitate. Cheers and happy editing. Ingolfson (talk) 08:54, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For example, Commons has a category for Omana Regional Park that at least one of your images could be added to. Here there are very few image categories, which makes them hard to find even on this project. Richard001 (talk) 20:52, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of File:Omana great view.jpg[edit]

A tag has been placed on File:Omana great view.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:File:Omana great view.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
