New player articles[edit]

Hi there, and thanks for your contributions. However, please take note of the following issues with them.

To determine who deserves to have an article written about them on wikipedia, there is a guideline called the general notability guideline, which states that you need significant coverage in independent reliable sources. For sportspeople, a secondary guideline exists, WP:NSPORTS, which says if you have played at the highest level, then you are presumed notable enough. For sports like soccer and cricket, they are very strict on this, to the point of the rule being "you don't get an article for being signed, play in a professional league and then you'll get an article". We are generally a bit more lenient for AFL articles for currently listed players, but the key is to add an INDEPENDENT (ie not the AFL or club website) source that covers the player in SIGNIFICANT coverage - ie not just a mention in a list or that he played/was drafted.

Also, capitalisation is important for any links or categories. If the link or category is red, then there is a problem and the link won't work.

Welcome again, and hope you hang around to help out. If you need any questions answered, please reply here or on my talk page. Cheers, The-Pope (talk) 15:11, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
