Vandalism fighting![edit]

Hey thanks for your efforts to fight vandalism on Christmas worldwide! A couple pointers (a bad news/good news setup?  :) ):

  • be careful when you revert. Sometimes vandals like to remove text too, and it's important to see what they deleted. When you removed vandalism here, the stuff they deleted was still left out, and other editors just assumed by your edit summary that you'd reverted all the vandalism. I found out the stuff got deleted because, well, the article read funny and I wondered why, so I went digging through the edit history. BUT - there's a way to save us having to do that!
  • you don't need to do it manually :) Just go to "View history" on the article you want to check for vandalism. You'll see a list of summaries, e.g.
  1. (cur | prev) 05:48, 14 December 2010 Capgre (talk | contribs) (108,767 bytes) (Revert vandalism) (undo)
  2. (cur | prev) 05:21, 14 December 2010 69.158.50.15 (talk) (108,500 bytes) (→Czech Republic and Slovakia) (undo)
  3. (cur | prev) 04:26, 14 December 2010 216.73.77.232 (talk) (108,556 bytes) (→Europe) (undo)
  4. (cur | prev) 01:57, 14 December 2010 Chris Henniker (talk | contribs) (109,327 bytes) (→Malta) (undo)

If you click on the "undo" link, you'll get the option to undo the edit if it can figure it out, sometimes it says it cannot be undone, but always try the undo first. Failing that, if you click on the date, it will take you to the old reversion of the article, and if you click the edit button there, then you can revert to that specific version. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any questions and I hope you enjoy participating in Wikipedia!
