MfD nomination of User:Canman512[edit]

User:Canman512, a page you substantially contributed to, has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Canman512 and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:Canman512 during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Chuckiesdad (talk) 06:44, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hey, I've closed the discussion as Keep but as noted in the discussion, which can be viewed here, I am cautioning you against a userpage full of personal favorite links. This isn't really what Wikipedia userpages are about. Please ask for help, consider asking to be adopted and most of all have fun here. You can have a lot of fun contributing to articles whether it be fixing spelling and grammar, improving an article to FA status, or starting entirely new articles, and your user page is a great place to tell other editors what sorts of editing you are most interested in and what you are working on or thinking about doing on Wikipedia. I'd suggest you thin the links and tell us about your editing interests (I love botany, or 80's metal, or whatever); your background (I have a doctorate in subsaharan basket making or have lived in 73 different countries, etc), or your admitted biases (I hate frogs and think they should be driven to extinction). There is a lot of confusion over what is OK and what's not because this is a social networking thing, but the networking is for a specific purpose - to build an encyclopedia. Please take a look at the userpages of some experienced users for examples of what's appropriate, but keep in mind that the more experienced a user is and the more valuable content he or she has contributed the more leeway will be given in userpage content. If you want more thoughts on what is OK and what's not, post on my talk page.--Doug.(talk contribs) 23:15, 18 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
